Trackpad left click not responding on mac pro 13" 2013 Posted: 06 Dec 2017 11:24 PM PST Hi, All of a sudden, the left click on my macbook pro 13" late 2013 is broken. The OS thinks the left click is kept pressing down, even though I can physically click it. So it keeps dragging from a point. Right click works as normal. So even I connects a mouse, the left click on mouse is not working either. I turned off bluetooth and wifi to ensure nothing else communicating with it. Not working. I tried reseting the NNVM, PPEST, or whatever the name is. Not working. I opened the case, and loosen and tighten the screw of the touchpad, still not working. It doesn't seems the battery is swelled up. And taking off the battery is too much work: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Retina+Display+Late+2013+Trackpad+Replacement/27413 Currently I managed to turn on the option "ignore built-in trackpad while usb mouse is connected" to use usb mouse. Anyone has any recommendation? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Dec 2017 09:57 PM PST I cleared my SSD to reinstall my Mac. I have connected my computer with an Ethernet cable but whenever I try booting to Mac or try going to recovery mode, it would show me the error message of 1500f. What can I do? [link] [comments]
Old MacBook 15'' vs New MacBook Pro 13'' Posted: 06 Dec 2017 02:54 PM PST Hey everyone, So i'm attempting to help my brother purchase a new laptop for PA school and we've hit a wall. He's had a 2009 17" MacBook Pro since they first came out and this is his first upgrade since. He is leaning towards the old 15" for the ports and the screen size, and feels that the new 13" without OLED bar is too small for his needs. I feel like the 13" is likely to be the longer lasting machine, especially since he's not big on change, and is the more affordable option. I also argue the the 13" is significantly lighter and more portable for being tossed in to a backpack. We both agree to no TouchBar. Either way, both of these lap tops will be HUGE upgrades to him. What do you guys think? Go with the old MacBook 15" and have a bigger screen and no USBC, or go with the newer 13" and have a younger/more modern computer? [link] [comments]
Lightly used mbp 13 2.3g w 256 for 900? Posted: 06 Dec 2017 05:07 PM PST She says it's used 5 times. Would be my entry to mac. It is a 2017. Is that a killer deal or should I look for a better on a 15"? [link] [comments]
Seeking external battery to power my 2011 MacBook Air during a long flight. Posted: 06 Dec 2017 10:23 AM PST Time flies when you're playing Civ 5. Unfortunately so does my battery. In my cursory research the only options seem to be the wrong standard for fitting my charger, such as USB and USB type-c. I have the "standard" mag-connector to cord, to power block, a cord, to a three pronged outlet plug. Is there a good option that either works with my existing charger or could implement a conversation to a different format such as USB type-c --> my mag-connector? Any problems with bringing any certain size or type of battery on a plane? Many thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Dec 2017 12:50 PM PST So I have a mid 2009 mbp. Looking to upgrade to something newer. MacBook Air in my area are selling second hand really cheap at the moment. It doesn't warrant buying brand new. Unless however, should I spend the money on a new MacBook or the MacBook Pro with USB c for future proofing? I don't imagine USB type a is going anywhere fast. This is weirdly concerning me, I guess because usually the newer technology is the better but USB-c hasn't gone crazy IMO. [link] [comments]
Charging a MacBook with an underpowered AC adapter. Posted: 06 Dec 2017 12:49 PM PST I found an article by apple stating: "The best way to charge your MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 is to use the AC adapter that came with the computer. Using an underpowered AC adapter, like those that come with iPad, will make charging slower" Link Is slow charge the only drawback of using an underpowered adapter? other websites say that it will mess with the battery, this is not true? Broken key on MacBook Pro 15 2017 Posted: 06 Dec 2017 05:42 AM PST The key '5' on my MacBook Pro 15 2017 is acting weird. when i tap it, it Sometimes does not register, sometimes it registers normally, and sometimes it registers double. When i hold down the '5' key and wiggle it a little, it keeps registering it and inputs '5' many times. The key also reacts differently depending on where i tap on the surface of the key. It does not feel any different from the other keys. I got the computer a week ago Anyone who have experienced and/or know a solution? Note: This has happened to me before, but with the 'J' key. I sent it in for repair and they gave me a brand new computer, i wouldn't like to go through that again. The fact that this happened to me twice on two different brand new computers really makes me think that others have tried it as well. [link] [comments]

Weird question about MBP Mid 2014 Trackpad Posted: 06 Dec 2017 06:26 AM PST

Posted: 06 Dec 2017 09:45 AM PST So in summer, i purchased 3 (Yes three) 2017 15" top of the line MBP's.... All of them went back because of the screen uniformity issues. After hearing resent confirmation from Ive that Apple has heard the complains about the 16/17 lineup, makes me wonder should i wait for the 2018 refresh? One option that i have, is that i can purchase cheap (1500€ 128gb) MBP 13". And with hold for the 2018 refresh, sell it and purchase topoftheline 15" when the 2018 is introduced (assuming the top of the line 15" would cost around 3500€) Second option is to buy 256gb 13" non-tb variant for 1700€. and then sell it when 2018 15" is introduced. (possibly lose more money overall compared to 128gb option. But my concern is that the 128gb isn't enough) Third option is to draw my luck again, and purchase 15" 512gb for 3400€. And possibly sell it when the 2018 lineup is introduced. However, i am guessing that overall i will lose more money this way.... What you guys think? Overall my main nitpick about 15" 2017/16, is the screen. [link] [comments]
Late-2009 MacBook (silver) still running 10.5.8. Worth putting money into updating? Posted: 06 Dec 2017 12:04 AM PST I have a late 2009 MacBook. I believe it was the first silver body style laptop they issued. It is running 10.5.8 and it claims there are no software updates available when I check it through the computer, however a little google-fu tells me that if I buy the disk for snow leopard 10.6 that I can update and then update through the app store after that. I don't mind shelling out the $20 bucks to buy the disk, however, I'm working overseas in Malaysia and am unable to get the disk shipped here. There's a local shop that is an authorized apple retailer that says they'll update and reformat the computer for $65 USD if it's possible. The laptop has a few separate issues (a few of the keys don't work: a, z, q, 1, backspace--currently using the keyboard viewer to assist) but I was just going to use it as an at-work computer with a keyboard hooked up to it so I don't have to tote my other laptop back and forth from home. Essentially I'm just trying to figure out if the computer will run fine once updated or if it will be buggy and weird. Right now it's essentially useless as all of it's browsers and software are out of date. Its specs are: Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Dec 2017 12:59 AM PST So I own a 2017 Macbook Pro 15-inch and I'm wondering if its better to leave my charger in when I'm home rather than letting it cycle from 80% to 40% when I'm home in the evening and using like 1 battery cycle? [link] [comments] |
