I updated a couple of hours ago and my phone is constantly restarting :-( Posted: 01 Nov 2017 08:40 PM PDT I'm a technophobe and still have a 5S. I went to update earlier (didn't backup beforehand as I've never had a problem) and saw that it would take approx. 12 mins. It ended up taking hours and now it won't stop restarting. It stays on and works for about a minute then goes again. The screen has just started to flicker as well. It's 03:40 in the UK and I have an alarm set for 7am. I'm too scared to go to sleep in case I can't get woken up! Could anybody help? (Thank you.) [link] [comments] |
iphone 7 not making it past logo screen, goes black, then repeats. Posted: 01 Nov 2017 07:53 PM PDT i found an iphone 7 in the woods. brought it home, plugged it in and it came on. obviously on a lock screen so i removed the sim card and plugged it into my computer to restore it so i can use it. somewhere along the process it stopped making it past the white screen with black apple logo. it just stays on repeat going black screen to logo screen till it dies. i plugged it in, held the recover buttons (lock button and volume down) and selected to restore and update on itunes. i wait through the whole download screen but when its supposed to restart it just repeats the same black screen, logo screen, and then black screen. im completely lost and i dont even know what else to try should i bring it somewhere? please help. Posted: 01 Nov 2017 03:41 PM PDT Hello, Once I upgraded to iOS11 I noticed a glitch for when my phone sent green sms texts. When using a contraction: the character count goes to a max of 70 instead of 160 and the SMS is sent with only one or two words sending. When not using a contraction: everything is normal. Max character count is 160 and recipients receive all text. I have just downloaded iOS11.1 and it's still happening. I reported it to Apple when I originally downloaded iOS11. Nothing in response. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
iphone 6 - Adding new music, stuck on preparing to update Posted: 01 Nov 2017 03:31 PM PDT Updated both phone and itunes to latest software. Tried restarting both. Anytime I add music to my phone it says preparing to update and then just gives up after a bit. Tried using tunescare which did nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated as this only happened within the past few days, before that I had no issues adding music. [link] [comments] |

iPhone 7 Plus not letting me send or receive phone calls. Posted: 01 Nov 2017 11:20 AM PDT I have been having this problem where I try to dial out and it counts the time of the phone call, but I am not able to talk or receive sound. I updated it recently and it fixed it for like a day, but now it is doing the same thing again. Siri isn't working either. I know it is not my microphone because my voice recording app works. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Strange issue with keyboard on iPhone 6 Plus Posted: 01 Nov 2017 09:05 AM PDT I am at a complete loss for how to deal with this strange issue, any suggestions/help is welcome and appreciated! I am using an iPhone 6 Plus, running iOS 11.0.3. A few days ago, my phone starting changing the letter "I" to "A" and then a box with a question mark in it (much like would appear if you receive an emoji that is yet to be installed on your keyboard. You can see what I mean here. I've done a reset of the phone, I deleted the emoji keyboard, and did a reset of my dictionary, all with no luck. Anybody else experience this incredibly bizarre issue or know how to fix it before I do a full factory reset? Thank you in advance for your help! EDIT: I should also note a phantom "I" emoji has appeared in the emoji keyboard, which is also documented in the images I've linked to. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6s Battery Dies While Still Saying 8% Available Charge Posted: 01 Nov 2017 02:41 PM PDT My phone will die right around 7-8% battery. It's actually dead because if I try to turn it on, it will attempt to boot (believes it still has 5%+ battery so it will attempt) and die during the boot. If you try enough it will then finally quit attempting (assuming it now believes it is below the 5% mark so it won't try the boot). If I plug the phone into my laptop it will attempt to boot but fail due to the small amount of current a laptop provides an iPhone to charge off of which is more evidence that the battery is actually dead. If I plug the iPhone into a 2.1A charger for 30 or so seconds and then switch it over to the laptop, I can test the battery with Coconut Battery. That too has it listed the same as the phone (~8%) with the design capacity being 99.8%. This issue never occurred before I downloaded iOS11 onto my iPhone 6s and everything was fine before that. This obviously screamed software issue to me. I did a factory reset of my phone and set it up as new on iOS 11.0.3. After I did that I found out they released 11.1 and upgraded to that. Today was the first day since the restore that my phone was able to drain all the way and it still drained to 8% and died. I have tried to recalibrate the battery (let it die completely, charge with no use for 2 hours past full charge, let drain completely, recharge with no use) but that clearly hasn't worked. Any suggestions? Do you think it's the battery? I just got the battery replaced by a third party (I believe they said they used an LG battery) ~2 months ago. The life of the battery is great and can hold a charge very well. It still seems to me like a software issue, but I'm stuck on how to fix this. [link] [comments] |
iphone 5c no longer syncing with itunes Posted: 01 Nov 2017 02:18 PM PDT Hello, Last night I went to my settings to delete all of my songs, since I was going to remake my whole library and couldn't delete the songs one by one, because my digitizer is damaged and the screen doesn't work properly. Anyways, I then connected to iTunes to send songs to my phone, but whenever I click "send to device", it's never sent. Any help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Nov 2017 08:08 AM PDT This started with my iPhone 7 shortly before the 8 came out, and the 7 was really locked up, so I upgraded. A week into owning the 8, it did the random shut down and restart twice, so I went to the Apple Store genius bar. They factory reset the phone and I restored it with the backup from iCloud. I was told that if this didn't fix it I would have to factory reset it and not use the backup. I won't lose photos and contacts because those are stored separately in iCloud. I protested that I would lose my texts. The Genius Bar employee told me that they were originally told that iOS would store texts separately so if I didn't backup I wouldn't lose them, but then they were told iOS 11 wouldn't have this feature so yes, I would lose them. Flash forward a month later. This Monday evening, my phone froze, screen went black, then seconds later I got white screen with black apple logo as before, and it restarted. Acted like a normal phone. I called support, they were unable to remotely run diagnostics but told me to factory reset using my Windows laptop then restore from my iCloud backup. I did so. Now this morning, it unexpectedly restarted and I happened to see it happen, with the white screen, black apple logo, and it asking me to use my passcode to restart. I have an appointment after work this evening at the Genius Bar and I'm afraid I will be told I'll have to factory reset the phone and not restore it with the backup because "there's something wrong in the software."
I know this a lot, but I'm concerned. This is shaking my confidence in Apple and the iPhone in general. I thank anyone who has the time to reply and help me out. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 - Won't let me send a text message from a person's contact screen Posted: 01 Nov 2017 01:53 PM PDT When I find a contact in my phone's contact list, I click send message and it just takes me right to my imessage texts. It used to be where I hit "send message" and it took me to an already templated message screen with the contact I'm trying to text. Any help? It bothers me so fucking much. I will give gold to whoever finds a fix for me. [link] [comments] |

iPhone 5 no audio in video recording Posted: 01 Nov 2017 03:20 AM PDT I have a very annoying problem. When I record video on my iPhone 5 (iOS 10.3.3), the sound is not recorded. Instead, I hear a clicking sound in the audio. Every minute I might get a few seconds of sound, but most of it will be silent clicking. Weird thing is: Phone calls, facetime and sound recording work perfectly. Does the video recorder use a different mic? Can it be disabled in favor of the main mic? The phone has no other defects, so I don't want to replace it yet. Thx in advance [link] [comments] |
Contacts updated on the iPhone aren't updating across iCloud to my Mac. Posted: 01 Nov 2017 12:19 AM PDT So I've always had a constant issue with all my contacts not seeming to transfer over between my iPhone and my laptop, which makes using the iMessage or FaceTime app on my macbook frustrating. I realized tonight that the main issue seems to be that when I update a contact in my phone, it doesn't update the iCloud contact. I can see a linked iCloud contact at the bottom when I choose to edit the card, but there has to be a way just to merge them on my phone, right? I would really like to avoid going through and individually updating each and every contact to the linked iCloud card. here's a link to a screenshot of my phone contact for reference: https://i.imgur.com/zkYGlCX.png [link] [comments] |
