Told him I'd try to fix or at least research the problem. I've searched but apparently everyone has problems and I get too many results, I can't find the right keywords, likely because I am not experienced with iPhones much at all, but still way more of a tech geek than anyone he knows...so um...yeah. I got the phone in a nearly non-functional state. Power it on and over the next few minutes you might see the white Apple come on for a few moments and the cycle repeats a few times. I did the the hold power/home down to reset and prepare for update after installing iTunes. Everything worked fine. Played with the phone for a few hours on and off and set it down, it idles fine and wakes up when you hit home, uses WiFi just fine, signed up and installed a game, browsed the internet a bit etc. Turned phone off before bed. Tried to power it on today, and it does the same thing, The White Apple of death comes up for a few moments, goes away, comes back on, goes away. From his description, he'd also taken the same steps a few times(He watched as I reset and started reinstalling iOS. Anyone with similar issues? Was there a fix? It's a couple years old or better(bought new but after this model got cheaper with new models hitting the market), no warranty that I know of, it was bought and used on a pay as you go, they have other phones, but it'd make a nice little WiFi toy if it stayed functional... If I can't find a fix, it's going to get scrapped if I can find the parts to use the display for something else(I'm a diy sort of tech hobbiest, have seen similar ipad projects, turned display into a PC monitor for a portable gaming rig). Any help or advice or tricks would be appreciated. Sorry if this came up as some form of repeat or whatnot. [link] [comments]  |
| Snapchat Microphone not working - iPhone 7 Posted: 02 Oct 2017 08:40 PM PDT I got an iPhone 7 in May, and around July the microphone for snapchat started crapping out. When I record a video you can barely hear the audio even with the volume all the way up. The microphone works for every other app (camera, voice memos, etc.) and works on snapchat with headphones. However, as of several hours ago, the issue has become particularly serious. The touchscreen is so unresponsive that I can't log in. I've tried to log in 8 times unsuccessfully, resulting in my iPhone being locked out for an hour. With the risk of my iPhone being completely wiped, I'm not sure whether or not to try again. First of all, I have one of those wireless charging things from Belkin. If I put a case on my phone, will it still work? What if it's one of those half-case half-wallets? I kind of liked those. But I didn't notice the two screws in the bottom and I tried removing it with the screws on until I noticed them. | Posted: 02 Oct 2017 02:35 PM PDT SOLVED I was not aware that the Music App could be deleted and redownloaded, I just assumed they kept all default apps undeletable. Redownloaded it from the App Store... I never really used the Music App since I have Spotify but my premium has run out and I have all my songs on my phone anyway for this occasion, but I just can't seem to find the Music App. Screenshot of my phone and comparing it with a default new iPhone I've tried searching in Spotlight for "Music" but it doesn't show. Resetting the Layout doesn't help either. Restarting isn't doing anything. Is it because I have Spotify installed? Which if it turns out the Music App gets disabled due to Spotify being installed, that's stupid considering Spotify can't, as far as I'm concerned, access the phones Music Library. iPhone 6 Plus > iOS 10.2.1 [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 02 Oct 2017 01:27 PM PDT All of the sudden for "no reason" at all, my iPhone 5s now displays Searching... instead of my normal carrier. I have tried a lot of things such as: resetting network settings, taking out the sim card, rebooting my phone, changing date and time, airplane mode, and a lot of other things that involve all of those combined. I know it is not my sim card, since it worked fine in another phone. I am not able to update my phone and I do not want to reset it to factory settings except as a final resort. | Question regarding text message auto capitalization. Posted: 02 Oct 2017 11:25 AM PDT With the most recent iOS update, it appears that my text message dictionary is including all names from my phone book. When I type a word that is the same as a name in my phone book, the phone automatically capitalizes that word and makes it into a property noun. However, I am fully capable of determining when to use a proper noun and do not need my phone to do it for me. Constantly going back and editing my texts so I don't look like a moron is getting old. Does anyone know if it is possible to tell my dictionary to exclude names from my phone book when checking spelling? This feature might work for some, but for me it is an annoying pain in the rear. I did a backup, disconnected the old device from the internet, then installed on the iPhone but it did not show me a way to restore. I only got backups from icloud. Posted: 02 Oct 2017 01:55 AM PDT Everytime I try to create a backup of my iphone's data on itunes, at the end it keeps saying it cannot create backup because the iphone is disconnected. I am trying to update my iphone 6 from ios 8.4 to the latest ios firmware, but I keep getting the error message when I try to update it. I am on a macbook pro 2012 with the latest itunes version. I tried switching usb ports, restarting my iphone without it being plugged in, and turning off wifi syncing and using airplane mode, but so far nothing has worked. Is there anything else I can do?
