| Posted: 02 Oct 2017 08:33 PM PDT Okay so this is less of a technical problem I suppose, but I'm looking for a technical answer on what I should do. On my current phone, the iPhone 4s, I have about 20,000 photos. Now, a very significant portion of the pictures on this phone are nsfw photographs of either myself or my partner. I don't have them in albums either, they're just sort of... scattered across my phone in very noticeable chunks. Now, here's the problem. I'm only 20 years old, and my parents buy my phone and handle my service and everything so apparently my dad needs my apple ID and password for the transfer. I don't really understand it, but that's my situation. What i'm here to ask is... could my parents see the pictures on my phone? Is there ANY chance they could? How do I stop that from happening? | Posted: 02 Oct 2017 05:11 PM PDT Okay, I've got an express set up to extend the network from my extreme. Can I connect my PS4 to the LAN port? I'm trying and the PS4 isn't seeing the network. Apart from a flicker from the "no symbol" to the Apple logo every 30 seconds it seems to show no sign of progress. Has anyone seen this before? I managed to get it back to this point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luoh-q4sDFM&feature=youtu.be that it what it was doing back in 2014/15 when it first died. Here are the steps I've taken.
I've found some online software that allegedly would recover the files, but everytime I get to a step that will permit me to see the files, they ask for money... $30 in most cases. Something I'm not willing to spend if the phone is just plain broken (which conveniently enough, the software wont tell me) Any other ideas? Thoughts? [link] [comments]  |

| Change brightness on external monitor Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:57 PM PDT Good evening, I've been trying to figure out a software solution to changing the brightness on an external monitor while using my MBP. I've seen a few pieces of software, and tried a couple. One didn't work (Shades), one kind of worked badly (Brightness slider), and the others seem to have been abandoned by their former developers. Does anyone know of a software solution to adjusting the brightness of an external display quickly? My monitor does have brightness controls, but they're kind of a pain to access and slow to use. | Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:42 PM PDT Hi my 2013 13in MacBook Air is refusing to start. When I power it on, it has a dark blue screen. I've been googling and trying to get it to power on but the most it will do is give me an extremely faded apple logo (it looks like the ghost of an apple logo). I've tried just about everything google will offer. I've done the PRAM thing, I've tried to restart holding command and R, earlier it stopped working and I somehow got it to work by holding option and powering on but that doesn't seem to cut it right now. | How to get Google calendar events to instantly show on apple watch? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 04:33 PM PDT I add events to my Google calendar through my web browser or google calendar app but they do not show up/update on the watch until the Apple calendar app on the phone has fetched the new calendar data, which sometimes takes several minutes. Is there a work around or any way to get the watch to instantly update events using a different app? I tried Fantastical 2 and Tiny Calendar, neither worked. | Posted: 02 Oct 2017 08:15 PM PDT I did the WebKit test and that symbol doesn't show up on my old monitor vs my MBP monitor with wide color gamut that does show it. Having said that I feel like i'm not seeing any difference with YouTube or Netflix content labeled as HDR enabled or 10 bit. I can't imagine the difference is just subtle, I have them side by side and they look exactly the same. I feel like it was more pronounced before I reformatted OSX or something, can it be accidently turned off? [link] [comments]  |

I've been having problems with my 2012 MacBook Pro ever since. Anyway, because somehow I lost Sierra and can't install it again from Recovery Mode, I thought that I'd download the original OS that came with my laptop, Lion. It installed fine and brought me to the log in screen. My current password didn't work, and my Apple ID was not recognized, so I couldn't reset the password. Anyone know why? Idk what to do... It is a Synology and I would like the library to be available to multiple computers. Not all at once, but one at a time. The server is already mounted and I can navigate the files using my Macs. When I launch iTunes, it opens and lists no music. Like it's empty. What is the best way to ensure that this works well? Thanks [link] [comments]  |
| Can't delete stuff from iCloud storage. Posted: 02 Oct 2017 07:31 PM PDT I have the free 5gb storage plan, and I've reached the cap. I wanted to delete my notability files, which are already backed up to google drive, and eat up the majority of my storage. Within the notability app, I've already disabled iCloud backup. In settings under iCloud storage, it confirms I have 3.1 gb of Notability data, and it has the arrow pointing towards the right. I tap it, and it flashes, and no new screen pops up to prompt me to delete my files. How can I delete this data, so my photos and mail can start saving again? Thanks! | Help with my Photos app draining my battery in background? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 07:27 PM PDT So this seemed to happen once I updated to iOS 11. My battery seemed to be running out faster than before but I never really thought anything of it and it became a recurring thing. I checked my battery settings and it turns out my Photos app is draining somewhere around 45% of my battery daily, with the split being about 5 minutes on screen and 7 hours in background. I've done some research and a lot of people said that iCloud sync was the source of the trouble, which may be true. However, I've shut off all photo sync with iCloud from my phone and my MacBook. The problem still hasn't ceased and I really don't know what to do barring a full on reset. Any help or ideas to steer me in the right direction would be great. I'm about to schedule a trip to someone who knows more than me, however I don't consider myself technologically incompetent but I'm at a loss for this one. [link] [comments]  |
| iPhone 8 Plus Mute switch problem or feature? Posted: 02 Oct 2017 07:27 PM PDT Coming from an iPhone 6 where no matter what when switching to mute it would give a vibrate. My iPhone 8 Plus seems only only vibrate when the screen is turned on. But then after I switch it to vibrate with the screen on even when the screen goes dark it will still vibrate when switching it on/off till I leave it off for a few minutes. Is this normal? I've tried every remedy on google that I could find. I updated to the latest iOS 11 patches, reset my the iPhone and reset network settings.
