I moved on from my iPhone almost a year ago. I've had an Android ever since. I woke up this morning to almost a 100 dollar charge from iTunes. I'm now in the negative. I went to Apple's website to dispute this but when I log in there's nothing in mu purchase history. Either I have the wrong apple ID or something else is going on. There is a small semicircle on the left edge that is slightly brighter than the rest of the screen. It is especially noticeable against light backgrounds and at an angle. I am hopeful that Apple will replace the phone for this, but I want to know if they will replace my screen protector as well since they aren't really reusable. [link] [comments]  |

| Did Apple drop support for Firewire based iPods? Posted: 30 Oct 2017 03:02 PM PDT I recently fixed an old, 3rd Gen iPod. This one. AN important thing to know about this model is is was the first with USB support, but that came with an update after it was released. It wont charge via USB and iTunes wont do a factory reset via it either. I was able to use it with an older mac that still came with Firewire to set it up and it worked for the most part. Scyned it via USB with the main machine that doesn't have Firewire, but it would crash occasionally. I decided to get a Firewire card for my current machine. It shows up in System Information, but it wont show up as a device in iTunes or mount to the Desktop like it does with USB. I did test the card with an external Firewire drive and it worked perfectly. [link] [comments]  |
| Can I buy AppleCare for a $329 device swap (repair)? Posted: 30 Oct 2017 08:10 PM PDT iPhone 6s Plus won't charge anymore. Confirmed singed lightning port at Genius Bar. They don't repair just the port, I guess the go-to solution these days is a flat $329 swap for a new unit. So that is headed my way. Replacement parts on amazon are flaky shit. I tried fixing it myself, results were shit. Anyway, I own this unit. As of January I would have been finally been seeing savings from buying it (it takes $25 a month for this long until it is paid). The $329 adds another year to that, but that's life. Does apple offer AppleCare in this situation? I know it has a 90 warranty, but I'm considering adding apple care for 2 years if they offer it. | Difficult question about iPad 4g / Cellular data / Find my iPhone Posted: 30 Oct 2017 02:11 PM PDT So i was thinking of buying an iPad with cellular connectivity, but essentially I don't need the cellular connectivity and i dont want to pay for it every month, BUT what i do want is to be able to have some sort of prepaid sim that allows me to use Find my iPhone. | Posted: 30 Oct 2017 08:07 PM PDT So yesterday my phone got low, I decided to charge it, except I soon found that my charger wouldn't charge the phone. I think this was because the port was dirty but i cleaned it and the chargers connect to the phone, except I was stuck in a boot loop. My phone would show me the battery with a little bit of red at the end, and when it wasnt plugged in I got the charger cable and the little red bit flashing (Ive seen this before I know it means my phone is dead and i gotta charge it). But when i plugged it in and left it, it would never get off the battery symbol. Every now and then, an hour or so, it would boot up and turn on, then immediately run out of power and give me the battery symbol. I did some research and found out what a boot loop was, and I tried setting it in recovery mode but Im not sure if that works. I tried another thing called DFU mode and i got to where my computer will detect a phone in recover mode. I click restore and my phone gives the itunes logo and a cable going to it, and my computer tells me its restoring. Then my phone gives me the apple logo with the bar underneath as it restores. EXCEPT, the phone dies before the bar loads anywhere and I get back to square one. My computer stays on waiting for phone, and I have to quite the itunes app for it to not detect the phone, even when I unplug it. My question is, what do i do? i need my phone and all the appointments at the apple store are in several days. Do i need a new battery? should i replace it myself to save money? any help is appreciated. Edit* My phone also isnt very updated. I believe it was on iOS 9 [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 30 Oct 2017 02:03 PM PDT For some reason I cannot open a different photos library after updating to high Sierra. When I attempt to change libraries (double clicking the library in my user/Pictures folder) it opens Photos and asks if I wish to change libraries. I confirm that I want to and it restarts again, but stays with my main library. !!UPDATE!! OK so this is some type of bug that I found. If I double click the library and photos opens, it does what I mentioned before. BUT, If I option click the Photos app icon and select the library from the list. It opens as expected. | Iphone is semi-frozen, and rebooting with sleep/home is not working? very weird problem Posted: 30 Oct 2017 01:53 PM PDT Im going to be as thourough as i possibly can writing this My phone all of a sudden started acting weird, my Messenger notification banner popped up and wouldnt go away, and after i tried manually sliding the notification away my screen wouldnt respond. I locked my phone and here i am, stuck at the locked screen with nothing i can do. I can hold down the powerbutton and get the power down screen, and i can tap it 5 times for the emergency number. I can also hold down the home button to activate Siri. What i cant do is reboot. It just wont work, either siri opens up or the code screen pops up, but either way it wont work, have tried this atleast 50 times, using my anger to press the buttons as hard as i can. I have had time to try every possible function on my lock screen and will provide this in the following list I can take a screenshot and use my finger to slide the tiny picture in the corner around on the screen, every sensor is intact and its tracing my finger all around. I am recieveing messages and my sound is clear, i can use the mute function aswell. cannot lower or increase audio though. I can open command center (lower), but not press any of the buttons. Cannot open the notification center (upper) I used to be able to get directly into my phone with my fingerprint sensor (have disabled the clicking part so only a slight touch activates it) but now it is asking for my passcode every time. This i cant input When im on the power-off screen i cant slide the slider. I can slide the emergency number slider aswell as use all the buttons in the calling screen, but when i try to go into my contacts and is asked to type in my code, it wont let me. cannot interact with anything i recieve, but they pop up and the timer on the inital bugged notification is increasing with every minute, so not purely visual. I can comment further info if needed, would also love if an apple employee would reach out if they saw this, as the customer in my country is closed atm. Thank you [link] [comments]  |

The phone would charge and then not charge. This would happen in fast repetition until I disconnected the Lightning cable from the phone. Anyone know whats up? Posted: 30 Oct 2017 07:35 PM PDT My phone got cracked pretty severely (fell off a balcony) to where over half the screen is blacked out. I kept trying to see messages that were being sent to me through half the screen but each time I hit the power button/touched the screen the phone would go to the enter passcode screen and then a bunch of random numbers were entered because of the cracks so the phone got disabled. Not entirely sure how many times it's been disabled (can't see the time left, only the word "iPhone.." with the darkened screen so I know it's locked right now). Once the screen is fixed, is there anyway to unlock it and recover my data without needing a factory reset? I haven't backed up my phone for a few weeks so I'm not sure how much I would lose. I restored to the last backup which was in May and I lost all of my photos from the summer and ALL of the messages. During the backup, I didn't get any of my messages or notes back and I am wondering if there is any chance I could get those messages notes back or the photos that was lost. I was just on amazon shopping around, then I decided to open the reddit app. I can still see the notifications icon, the cart icon, and the 3 lined menu button when I open reddit. I use night mode, so they aren't very apparent but they are there. Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this a software bug? Any info is appreciated. [link] [comments]  |

Currently there are three partions: Mac HD - OSX Extented OSX Reserved - OSX Extended basic Data - OSX Extended I can't use disk utility to de-partition as I get an error saying:
So I did a bit of research thinking I could attempt it in Terminal in Recovery mode or Internet Recovery Mode and tried the following
It lists 15 disks but the main being disk0 on a GUID_Partion_scheme I then try the following two commands

| Posted: 30 Oct 2017 06:48 PM PDT My first update to iOS 11 causes issues with work wifi. Three people, 3 different iPhones, all same issues. Had to forget the network and login with us and password, 3-4 times per day. Never had issues prior, was connected when in range before even entering the building. After updating to 11.0.3, constant drops at home now. Never had issues before, laptops, apple tvs, Roku, all work fine. Use a range extender but drops even when sitting next to the router. Tried restarting phone, reset network settings, turning wifi in and off, nothing changes. Very buggy release, wifi is extremely important, especially when data in Canada is SO expensive. On my iPhone 7 Plus, smart invert makes the colours of apps on the home screen dull and darker than their original. However, this is not a problem with my iPad Air 2. Would this be a hardware issue because they use different colour gamuts, or is it just a software thing with iPhones? I've confirmed that this is not a third-party issue as this problem persists even with the stock app icons. Edit: For some reason, taking a screenshot on my iPad Air 2 in smart invert mode will take the picture in normal after I turn off smart invert but a screenshot on my iPhone inverts the actual colors of the screenshot even after turning off smart invert. | Posted: 30 Oct 2017 02:30 PM PDT So yeah, if you refer to this thread ( https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/78td3n/mac_stuck_on_reboot_loop/ ) you will notice how my iMac entered to an endless reboot cycle: Start -> try to fill status bar -> stay on white screen for some seconds -> turn off and then start again. I took it with the people who sold it since it still had guarantee, it turned out to be the video card / graphic card, I don't know what's its actual name, is this one: AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB. I don't know why it failed but they had other one for the moment, an AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB. So they replaced it, also they cleaned the fan of iMac and everything. It now turns on perfectly without any problem. Everything is at it was, I didn't even made a backup. But now I'm paranoid, thinking the Graphic card will stop working again, since last time it was all of a sudden. I was watching a video on YouTube and it suddenly crashed. How can I know if the card is failing again in advance? Or it is something that always happens in that all of a sudden way, crashing the mac and creating a reboot loop. And most importantly, I'm still doubting it was an actual error from the Graphics Card. Just before this all happened I had installed "Parallels Desktop" with a Windows 10 ISO. | Posted: 30 Oct 2017 01:51 PM PDT On Saturday morning, my phone was working fine. In the afternoon, all of a sudden it said "No Service". It wouldnt let me call, text, data when there is no wifi. So its useless when Im outside. Wifi connection is working. Ive tried all the following: Restarting the phone Taking the sim out and back in Toggle airplane mode Toggle cellular Reset network setting Reset All Settings I've chatted with Tmobile and they even sent me signal but my phone still couldnt connect to the network. Also, I took another phone and put my sim in and in that phone, my sim works. But when I took another sim and put it into my phone, nothing. Im thinking this phone is a goner? Its a hardware issue? Is there a way to register my iPhone so they know it's mine? What can I do in this case? I checked the coverage website and everything has a green check which means I'm still covered under the warranty for at least 2.4 months for factory issues, but they'll most likely ask me for the receipt, what can I do? help please, I also want to register my iPhone so they know I'm the owner!
