2020 M1 Macbook Air - 'Best Fixes' under 1-year warranty? Posted: 02 Jun 2022 09:24 AM PDT I bought a 13" MacBook Air (M1, 2020) last year. It needs a new screen - and the authorized repair shop is going to send it into Apple for it. It is covered by the 1-year Apple warranty, but this coverage will expire after this fix (they opened the repair on the day the warranty expired.) Are there any other 'good fixes' covered by warranty that I should ask for? Like a basic keyboard cleaning, etc.? Since this is my last/only warranty-covered opportunity. This was suggested by the store, since it's being sent in. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Are AirPods Max safe to use after cleaning ear cups with stain remover? Posted: 02 Jun 2022 05:49 AM PDT My AirPods Max ear cushions became stained and to clean them, I detached them and I used some Vanish stain remover and soaked them in water. They've cleaned up pretty well. However I noticed on the stain remover that it says not to use it on anything with an anti-flammable/ inflammable coating. Do the AirPods max have any coating like this? I'm looking to sell them and would like to ensure they're in good condition before doing so. I've worn them once or twice with damp hair too, I don't think they're damaged in any way as they sound absolutely fine. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jun 2022 09:54 AM PDT Guys, I really need your help! My iphone got stolen and the person who stole it turned it off. I logged into icloud on my friends device and selected it as "lost phone" and it said that it will notify me when it got connected to the internet again. Is there anything else I can do? :((( [link] [comments] |
USB port stops working after unplugging Studio Display Posted: 02 Jun 2022 04:00 AM PDT Hi I have a issue where unplugging my studio display appears to disable the USB port it was connected too. To allow the port to work again I need to power cycle the machine. This is a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) M1 and the Apple Studio display running latest firmware on Monterey Anyone seeing similar or can offer a fox? [link] [comments] |
Cannot verify server identity: Hotmail Posted: 02 Jun 2022 03:33 AM PDT So this morning I woke up to no power in my house and this pop up on my phone. I do know that this message has something to do with emails but the problem is I don't have a Hotmail. I went to my settings to see if maybe it was an account I could delete and still nothing was there except my regular outlook. Help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

iPad Air - refurbished 4, or new 5? Posted: 02 Jun 2022 10:45 AM PDT I'm looking to get this only for procreate and watching Netflix/etc. Can anyone who has tried both models tell me which you would recommend? I've seen some people mention creaking and screen rippling when you hold the air 5 without a case, but some people mentioned this has only been reported in grey and blue (I'm looking to get purple). I've never had an iPad before so I'm looking for some guidance here. Thanks for reading! [link] [comments] |

MacBook Pro M1 — 1 year — 173 cycles — 90%? Posted: 02 Jun 2022 05:25 AM PDT Apple states that a good battery should be at ~80% after approximately 1000 cycles. My MacBook Pro M1 is as shown below after 1 year, which makes me think that it may get to 80% when it reaches ~300 cycles. What do you think? MacBook Pro M1 (1 year this June) Purchased: June 2021 (new from Apple's website) Cycle count on June 2022: 173 Condition: Normal Max capacity: 91% How I use it: I only keep it connected to the wall in certain situations (editing/ exporting video, some zoom calls). I use it on battery for pretty much everything else and always try to keep it between 20-80%. [link] [comments] |
Learned how to move app from iPhone dock to Home screen Posted: 02 Jun 2022 08:41 AM PDT New iPhone user. I bet this is obvious to others but not to me. I wanted to have Apple Music on my home screen. I couldn't find it anywhere, just on the dock. I figured out I could move it from the dock to home screen. Didn't know you could do that. I heard 15.6 is taking it off the dock? Or maybe it's just not the default? [link] [comments] |
Dark Mode and Night Shift out of sync and Dark Mode turns off early Posted: 02 Jun 2022 02:43 AM PDT Recently, at some point since iOS 15.5, I've begun to have problems with Dark Mode turning off too early in the day. It seems to turn off as soon as I silence my Wake Up alarm (from sleep settings) regardless of whether the sun is up. I don't have any automations in place to that effect however. I haven't yet noticed it turning on too late or too early in the evening (sunset). What's more odd is that Night Shift is behaving as expected. So Dark Mode will turn itself off, but Night shift is still on and doesn't turn off until sunrise. (Both Dark Mode and Night Shift are set to activate at sunset and deactivate at sunrise.) I'm about to comb through sleep schedule but I don't previously remember any settings related to Dark Mode being there. I've temporarily made automations to handle Dark/Light Mode transitions and turned the actual Dark Mode setting off under
Any thoughts or troubleshooting suggestions? Apologies if this has been addressed. I didn't find anything searching. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jun 2022 07:51 AM PDT I replaced my daughters iPad 2 times last year, due to a charger breaking in the charging port and a cracked screen. In May and October. My son cracked the screen again but when I try to set up a repair, it's saying it'll be an out of warranty repair for $249 instead of the $49 repair. Everywhere I looked it says you get 2 repairs in a 12 month period. But when does the 12 month start? I assumed june would make it restart. Anyone know how I can verify this to figure out how to get the $49 repair. I still pay for apple care for it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jun 2022 07:15 AM PDT iPhone 11, iOS 15.5. My personal phone number is eSIM and my work has given me a physical sim and Huawei handset for business use. Rather than use the Huawei I have the work SIM card in my iPhone so I can choose which number to call certain contacts from etc. Problem is I have customers contacting me at all hours of the day and night via the work number so I have to manually disable that SIM card at night and then remember to enable it again in the morning. Is there anything I can use (e.g. IFTTT) to enable the SIM card from 8am - 6pm only? Or just any tips in general from other people in a similar situation? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Please suggest me a RELIABLE way to back up photos to a windows PC Posted: 02 Jun 2022 07:13 AM PDT I've been struggling with this for literal years now. Everywhere I look people just suggest backing up photos from my iphone (XS 256gb) via Windows Photos app (or fishy freemium software), and every time I try it eventually gives me an error saying "device unresponsive" and ends it. The only way I've managed to back up some stuff was actually accessing the DCIM folder of the iphone but you know what levels of chaos that results in when saving that to the PC. PLEASE anyone tell me a reliable way to just save my photos to a PC, I've wasted so many days over the years trying to get this to work. [link] [comments] |
