Pro-tip: Tapping AirPods Pro case while wireless charging lights up status light

    Posted: 03 Jun 2022 08:08 AM PDT

I just noticed this and have had these a couple of years. My AirPods Pro were on a wireless charger and I wanted to make sure they were charging and also see the status. I tapped with my finger--same motion intensity that I do my iphone for tap-to-wake--and noticed the status light came on each time.

Remove your e-mail address BEFORE deleting your Apple ID, or lose it forever

    Posted: 03 Jun 2022 12:28 AM PDT

I'm writing down this experience to save you from having it.

Background: I deleted an unused Apple ID a couple of weeks ago, without removing or changing alternative e-mail addresses in the settings. The plan was use the custom domains feature and use one of these e-mail addresses in a custom domain e-mail address.

I tried to add a custom domain e-mail in my other Apple ID, but always received the message that the intended e-mail address is used for another Apple ID (the deleted one), no changes even after two weeks of trying.

Result: I just got off a chat with Apple support, who confirmed that the e-mail addresses used in the deleted Apple ID are forever shut out from being used in any other Apple ID, forever and ever.

Takeaway: If you intend to delete an Apple ID, be sure to delete all e-mail addresses on the account first or they can never be used for a new Apple ID, ever.

This is my most missed feature and I'm crossing my fingers that it's back in iOS 16. Not to mention the shooting star iMessage effect.

Anyone else feel this way too?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! Lol

Dear Apple, I want to use Safari, but you don't make it easy.

    Posted: 01 Jun 2022 02:13 PM PDT

I really want to be done with Chrome. It's a CPU hog and frankly, I don't trust Google. I made the decision to change my default browser back to Safari and things were okay for a while. But today, I had to change it back for one simple reason.
With Chrome I have my work profile, and personal profile. I like to keep the two separate for various reasons, but with Safari I cannot do this. Why!? It seems like such a simple change, and I've seen other requesting this. Are there any thoughts of including this?

Tip for those who don’t want to watch WWDC live, but also don’t want spoilers

    Posted: 02 Jun 2022 05:48 PM PDT

TLDR: use the Apple TV app, no spoilers guaranteed. Even the description will just be something like "Apple WWDC event 2022" for the week.

Suppose you have work on the day, or, the event is live at 2 am and your not a morning person. Whatever the reason is, some can't watch these events live, which is unfortunate, because Reddit, YouTube, and every other social media/ news site immediately posts whatever was announced, the second it was announced.

Easy solution to this is to turn on DND, set it to turn off never, then when you feel like watching it, just open the Apple TV app, and if it isn't already in the home page, search up "WWDC" or "2022", whatever gets those keywords out.

Personally, I gotta follow tradition and wake up at 2am, promise myself that I won't download the next version of iOS, and then find myself downloading a dev build on my main devices anyways 5 minutes after the show. But you do you!

I think Siri knows about realityOS

    Posted: 03 Jun 2022 08:12 AM PDT

I just found out that when you ask Siri « what is realityOS? » it redirects you to apple's website to « learn more about apple's products » 🤔 do you think it's a sign that we'll see it announced a wwdc this year?

    Apple One Bundle Suggestion

    Posted: 03 Jun 2022 12:31 AM PDT

I don't know if I'm alone in this but I would LOVE if Apple One could be mix and match. Example, I'm wanting Apple TV, music and the cloud data but really could care less for Arcade. Why can't I switch that with News at the $14.95 price point? I refuse to go to premiere just so I can use the news app.

Apple's WWDC 2022 Event Page Features Animated AR Trading Cards

    Posted: 01 Jun 2022 03:04 AM PDT

Apple is promoting WWDC on YouTube with video ads, are they gearing up for “one more thing”?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2022 09:29 PM PDT

I watch apple keynotes religiously and I don't recall a time (ever) where they have publicly advertised a keynote (even WWDC) outside of their own ecosystem? I mean correct me if I'm wrong.. but if I'm right, with all the hype surrounding RealityOS and the VR/AR headset, which has now been demonstrated to the board members and the name trademarked?

Could we be in for a juicy treat this year?

I literally can't wait for WWDC..

Product wish: 13/14/15/16 inch Retina display

    Posted: 02 Jun 2022 04:57 PM PDT

Basically rip the display off of a Macbook Pro. Maintain the form factor as much as possible, add a little foldable (detachable) stand. USB C / Thunderbolt / Lightning.

A very light, mobile external display for one's MBP. Easy to fit in a back pack with a MBP.

I would love this. But, that's just like my opinion, man.

so easily scratched yet so hard to return - apple's iphone returns policy SUCKS!

    Posted: 02 Jun 2022 12:20 PM PDT

This is a rant about how much I hated my recent experience with Apple Store when I tried to return my phone that I just bought a few days ago. They refused to accept my return because the screen had cosmetic defects. I used the phone as a normal person, didn't drop it, used a screen protector the whole time except for the last two days before I decided to return it. Yes, I should have kept the protector on, but it was a crappy anti-glare one that made the screen too dim and less touch-sensitive. The scratches came out of nowhere, and according to the apple store advisors, that's not returnable so the fault's on ME? TOTAL bullshit because under EU law, you can return a product you are not happy with without any reasons given within 14 days. Plus, when did it become justifiable for companies to design/build sub-par products that become defective within a week (I'm talking about the stupidly easily scratched iphone screens) and then to REFUSE a consumer to exercise their right to return a product they are not happy with?

I was so infuriated by their returns policy at the store and I felt bad for the people working there, because they had to deal with a difficult customer when in reality they were trying their best but it's simply the stupid Apple policy that really fucked everything up. I lost complete trust in this company today. They seem to give zero fuck about building trust with their consumers nowadays because there's too much stupid hype around the brand, we've all been whipped to take whatever crap they hand us and there will always be people that eat that shit up. I had to spend 1.5h on the support phone line and got handed over different department several times to finally get the return accepted. Turns out that if you just return it online, the process is much simpler and different rules apply - meaning that they don't do the "quality control" thing before accepting a return like they do at apple stores. Good ending to the story, but such a frustrating process and made me detest the whole company altogether.

I've checked a lot of stories about people returning scratched phones in the past, seems like this really shouldn't have been an issue to begin with because companies need to accept a return if the phone is not damaged - cosmetic defect doesn't count. The store advisor was so friendly but so unhelpful - completely inflexible and failed to acknowledge a frustrated customer. I work in customer support so I know that if a customer is upset, the least you can do is to show that you are trying your best to help them. I did not feel like they cared enough to help me at the store today. Sucks that I only got what I rightfully deserved when I escalated it to the sales team on the phone.

Apple just lost my respect forever. Complete capitalist bullies.
