Changing this setting has changed the way I use Safari Posted: 14 May 2022 05:23 PM PDT Anytime I had multple tabs open I would find Safari taking a long time to load the web pages. I had to install Google Chrome to get around it, until I came across a post on reddit that has made pages load instantly now. Even simple things like full-screening YouTube is 90% faster. Safari Preferences > Tabs > Change to 'Compact' I can finally stop using Chrome! Another thing it does it change the toolbar to the colour of the webpage background which is also cool! Installing pClamp on Mac using WineBottler Posted: 14 May 2022 10:28 AM PDT Hello everyone, I'm trying to get pClamp on my Mac because I need to use clamp fit for some data analysis. When I try to run the .exe file I get a pop up that says "you find a log file to help with debugging on your desktop" and then when I open up the terminal it shows this (attached below). How can I fix this and get it installed? Or if I can't is there a free alternative to clampfit on Mac's? External Monitor Black Screen Issue Posted: 14 May 2022 10:28 AM PDT Hello, I accidentally changed my external monitor refresh rate to 25 hertz, which is not supported by my monitor, and I got a black screen. macOS does not allow me to change the refresh rate again unless I do it by clicking on the Displays menu. However, I can not do that since the Displays menu is on the not working external monitor; (NOTE: This happens only when I have my laptop's screen down, it looks like there is a different preset for the macOS when the laptop's screen is open) I tested my MacBook Pro on another external monitor, and it works fine. I guess I'll have to delete the configurations for my first monitor and delete them, but this did not work as well.(I deleted the display plist). Any suggestions? [link] [comments]

Something is blocking outgoing NW traffic Posted: 14 May 2022 09:11 AM PDT I hope someone can help with this. I have a 2021 macbook pro 14 and everything worked great until a month ago. I started to notice issues with the Steam client and the Battle.net launcher. Games would not update or it took a long time. I tried everything I could think of but couldn't find why until I noticed in the Battle.net log that the http connections to the Blizzard servers are not going through. After a bit of digging I found that Steam and EVE online had the same problem. No outbound connections would work. On the other hand all the installed browsers (firefox, safari, edge, chrome) work, I can browse the web with no issues. Testing port 80 via command: "nc -zv IPaddress 80" would also not work. Running the command on the local network with one of my local servers would work without issues. So I thought my router is to blame, but even when I connect via my phone, it is the same. I tried a public VPN service, same behaviour. I tried on the other computers on the network (3 PCs and an old Mac Mini) and no issues. In the end I gave up and reset the mac to factory and started with a clean slate. I set it up as a new Mac, didn't use a backup to restore or anything like that. Everything was OK. I even installed one program at a time, thinking maybe it is something like that, checking after every install, but everything was working OK. In the end I concluded maybe it was something I installed or maybe malware or something, but since everything was working again I was happy. That was a week ago. Yesterday it happened again. I didn't install any new apps, I didn't do any risky browsing or anything like that, I didn't open any suspicious documents... it just happened out of the blue. After hours of troubleshooting I tried installing Little Snitch, didn't know how that would help, but it has a network monitor so I thought I might get something out of it (tried Wireshark as well, but no help). And after it installed the network monitor, suddenly the issue disappeared. Just like that.... I uninstalled Little Snitch and the network monitor and it stayed OK. I have no idea or clue why, but for some reason the issue was resolved... And today it is back... Please if anyone has any idea what is happening or why, I would really appreciate any help you can give me. I am desperate to find out what is happening. Built in firewall is off, I have no AntiVirus or Firewall or anything like that installed. Thank you for any assistance! [link] [comments]
How to fix: Unable to send/receive calls and sms on MacOS 12.3.1 after resetting my iPhone Posted: 14 May 2022 07:48 AM PDT Hello, I recently purchased an M1 MBP specifically so that I could send and receive calls/sms straight from my Mac. This worked perfectly until I had to reset my iPhone 12 (running iOS 15.4.1) about 6 times in a single day trying to enable supervised mode and always-on VPN. I wasn't able to push through with that and ended up restoring my iPhone from an iCloud backup. Now, when I try to call from my mac all I see is a message "Your iPhone must use the same iCloud and FaceTime account" (which I already triple checked). As for messages, syncing of text/sms messages is incredibly spotty, recent text messages show up days later, and sending text messages no longer work at all. Not sure if this is relevant, but I also added a second physical sim to my phone about the same time that I first observed the issue. My previous sim was converted to an e-sim. I have backups for both devices so I'm not too worried about having to reset everything as a last resort. Hoping someone knows how to fix this. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
