I would like to reinstall macOS, but unfortunately the Mac does not have a built-in recovery system. There aren't very many guides about creating a bootable USB for an older version of MacOS (compatible with the Mid-2010 MacBook) using the latest macOS Monterey either. | Posted: 02 May 2022 11:40 PM PDT In Finder you can set the default search-location to "My computer" or "This folder". I have set that to "This folder" and it works in Finder… but if I am in an app and want to search for a file (ie open-dialog) it always uses "My computer". Is there any way to set that to "this folder"? I am currently using Chrome to update some 2500 pictures on a website (one by one). And it is quite frustrating when searching for a file. After wiping both the 1TB HD partition and the SSD partition in recovery (but not re-partitioning), the installer said Monterey wouldn't fit on the SSD (24GB). | Posted: 02 May 2022 11:03 PM PDT I have a very old Mac from 2012, as it still worked up until this point, i removed the password a while ago and I was about to put all my music stuff on a hard drive for a new computer, but the old laptop restarted and is now asking for a password, it hasn't done this since I removed the previous password, so I tried the old one but it didn't work, I tried all possible passwords that I have used but none seem to work, I need to get into the laptop as I have all my work on there, any tips? | Posted: 02 May 2022 10:50 PM PDT So I moved from rackspace exchange to office 365 last weekend. Everything seemed to be fine but all the sudden mac mail cant connect to office 365. Whats strange is that in the logs its trying to connect to the old rackspace server mex08.emailsrvr.com (I can see this through the connection doctor logs). I tried rebuilding everything Envelope index, deleting mail in the library, readding the account, etc etc. I have another exchange account in mail thats working perfectly. I flushed the DNS on my mac, etc etc. I see no way of trying to point mail back to office 365. Any ideas? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 02 May 2022 04:18 PM PDT I've installed Paragon, and despite mounting the drive and giving it full permissions, it will will not give me read/write access to the drive. I really don't want to reformat the drive since it has about 4TB worth of movies on it. Easiest way to handle? I'm thinking of getting another 4TB drive and formatting as exFAT, then copying everything over using a Windows PC. Any better ideas? TIA [link] [comments] | ||

It's incredibly slow now, and is generally on its last legs in many aspects. For the first time in my entire life, I've decided I'm going to switch to a Mac after I walk. I've been compiling a list of all the apps I want to invest in for it when I get it, and I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me out in finding more. If it means anything, a couple things things I might wanna mention:

For one particular playlist it only copies about 1/4 of the music (250 songs). I dragging in chunks but this didn't work well either. I don't understand what's causing this behavior.
