MLB games picture tone too dark? Posted: 07 May 2022 03:47 PM PDT Anyone else watch these games and think the contrast, tones or brightness is just off? It hurts my eyes just to watch and I can't figure out exactly what's off about the picture quality. Or am I just getting old? [link] [comments] |
Are the Apple TV screensavers fake? Posted: 07 May 2022 06:33 PM PDT I've been watching the airport screensaver and Dubai screensaver very closely and I noticed there are never any people walking around. In the airport one, after cars come to a stop, no one ever gets out or gets in and there are no workers handling the airplanes. In the Dubai screensaver, there are straight up no one walking around in the city. Also I noticed cars almost never change lanes. Are the screensavers CGI? Or heavily edited? I know Google maps will edit people out so maybe Apple does the same? [link] [comments] |
Apple TV is force renaming my TV input, even with "Control TVs and Receivers" off. Posted: 07 May 2022 12:37 PM PDT Hi everyone, I recently got an Apple TV (4K 2021) which I have connected to a Denon receiver that passes through video to my LG C1 TV. I would like my Receiver / eARC input on my TV to be named "Receiver", because I also have a Blu Ray Player and cable box connected to it. However, the Apple TV is automatically renaming the input (to what I have named my personal Apple TV) when connected, even with "Control TVs and Receivers" turned off. I can't even select that HDMI input to rename it manually in the LG dashboard. I had this problem with my Chromecast automatically renaming my receiver input, but disabling CEC fixed that problem and I was able to go in and rename it back to "Receiver". Now that I've switched to Apple TV, I'm having less luck. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any fix? [link] [comments] |
Apple TV suddenly unable to turn down volume of receiver through hdmi earc Posted: 08 May 2022 03:17 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm using an Apple TV 4K 2021 with a 2021 lg oled a1 Got the TV last month and everything worked fine, although sometimes it doesn't automatically route the audio to the Samsung receiver, although when I try to control the volume I see it changing the audio of the receiver even when the audio doesn't come out from it. I've reset the lg tv and restarted the Apple TV multiple times If I set the Apple TV in setting to change the receiver volume via ir it works to turn it down too, but then I am unable to control them from my phones Apple TV remove Anyone else having this issue? How do I fix it please 😠[link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 May 2022 12:32 PM PDT Current Roku is on its last legs, have been debating between 4k Roku or AppleTV. My usage is pretty simple, just stream content, no fancy home theater or anything. But what's enticing me with the AppleTV is how long Apple products last (have an old iPhone and MacBook that are still kicking) and development for Roku apps are eh (crashing, slower updates, channels like Twitch getting cut). Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Showing the Switch User Menu every time the Apple TV Wakes Up? Posted: 07 May 2022 07:45 PM PDT Is there a way to automatically show the switch user account screen every time the Apple TV is woken up? It's not something that currently is intuitive and other members of my family (including myself) just pick a show without remembering to switch to the right Apple TV user (ruining preferences, ratings, etc). Currently the Fitness app and other third party apps like Netflix do this, would be phenomenal if there's a way to do this with the actually Apple TV. [link] [comments] |
Best cheap tv for Apple TV box Posted: 07 May 2022 06:45 PM PDT I just impulsively bought a TCL tv, which is mostly for Roku but it had an Apple TV logo. So I see I can download the apple plus app. But I plugged in my Apple TV box and it doesn't recognize it. Either I did it wrong or I assume it's competing companies so it won't work? "No network detected" on ethernet. Posted: 07 May 2022 12:22 PM PDT I have the Apple TV 4K (old one with the black controller). This happens every time I try to watch a movie. It doesn't matter which app I watch from, but mostly it happens when I use Plex. I have tried restarting, resetting and switching ethernet cable, but nothing works. I have also updated to the lastest firmware. This is getting very frustrating as it happens like every 2-10 minutes and I can barely watch anything anymore. This started happening a few months ago. Anyone know a fix for this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 May 2022 07:15 PM PDT Under the apple tv app, i have purchased movies and tv shows. I havent looked at it for about a month. Today, i revisit the app to watch one of the movies and found subtitles in Chinese. This is fascinating. I never use subtitles. Anyone have any theories as to why apple remotely turned on subtitles in chinese in my personal movie collection? I dont remember reading about this in apple's "privacy" doctrine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 May 2022 09:04 AM PDT Is there an option in the Apple TV 4K (the first one) that blocks ads? I'm specifically thinking of when using the You Tube app. On my PC, I run an ad blocker, so it's smooth as can be. On the Apple TV App it's just highly punitive to watch anything with ad breaks every other minute. I wasn't sure if there was a way to block those. I'm thinking there isn't, but thought I'd ask in case someone knows of a way. [link] [comments] |

Does anyone feel like the AppleTV isn’t really worth it? Posted: 07 May 2022 09:09 AM PDT Don't get me, the Apple TV as a device is pretty powerful in compromise to most of the other devices out there (maybe save for an Nvidia Shield?). But what good is it if most of the apps being used are not optimized for it? For instance I've been having issues with Hulu, Paramount+, and DisneyNow where it will either stop autoplaying the next episode, won't stay in memory (which is supposed to be a feature that other boxes don't have), and the whole "are you still there" thing seems to happen more frequently than I like…despite using other Apple devices which you would think indicate that "hey I'm still here!! Just doing other stuff as well!!". Then there's Netflix. Their stubborn refusal to integrate with Up Next really pisses me off. Now I have to go to two different places to see what I'm currently watching where as on something like the Google TV it's pretty much there (although you get a lot of ads…no thanks). I'm sure I have more annoyances and all (made this post pretty hastily) but I wanted to know if anyone else felt like they weren't getting as much out it as they paid for it despite the cool ecosystem integrations.
