I don’t understand how Universal Control works so well Posted: 10 Mar 2022 06:04 PM PST A couple days ago I downloaded the public beta, mainly to try out one of the only features I was excited about: universal control. I had already read online that it supposedly worked flawlessly, as if by magic. Given the way Apple usually markets things, I was skeptical to say the least. But I went ahead and installed the betas. And while I've only used it for a couple of days, I've gotta say I'm impressed. Like really impressed. I don't know if it's using BT or wifi (or both) but holy crap is it impressive. But not only that, it's consistent. This is one of the few times in recent years were the saying "it just works" isn't just a marketing gimmick. I haven't spent much time with it, sure, but for it to work every single time, every single day? I'm impressed. But also confused. Because while universal control works flawlessly (and on a beta no less), the rest of the "connected devices" features are nearly useless. Handoff has always been a gamble. I do remember it working really well when it was released, but since then it's a coin toss on wether or not it will work. Half the time it seems to be disabled, the other half it seems to be frozen or crashing, not sure what to call it. I'll see, for example, the safari icon in the usual handoff place. So it knows that the other device I'm using has safari currently open. But tapping/clicking on it does nothing. But then out of nowhere it will work fine. Then there's the whole AirPods switching thing. To be fair, this does work flawlessly between my mobile devices (say, switching between an iPhone and iPad) but if I try adding my Mac to it, it just craps itself. It just hangs there trying to connect. I just find it odd that a (I'm assuming) more complex system like universal control has no issues whereas these other features, which are far older and have had more time to be developed on, are so poorly implemented. Instagram message notifications not closing when you open the chats - iPhone 13 pro Posted: 10 Mar 2022 11:28 PM PST Since 2 weeks ago, there is a weird bug on instagram, where the notifications do not close unless you manually clear them in the Notification Center. I've tried other iPhone models with the same software and it only seems to affect my phone. I've tried reinstalling the app and no result, is this an instagram problem? There is no info anywhere. No more shared calendars on iOS for iphone? Posted: 10 Mar 2022 07:28 PM PST I was going to this document: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/share-icloud-calendars-iph7613c4fb/ios Step 3 says
But I'm not noticing an Add Person option anymore. Are shared calendars gone or is my iOS not up to date? I have a pretty recent one if I remember right [link] [comments]
Latest update messing anyone else's phone up?? Posted: 10 Mar 2022 07:26 PM PST Ever since the latest update my phone keeps freezing, my downloaded songs stop, skip and voice control pops up and don't get me started with Spotify. This is so frustrating I've deleted apps, reinstalled them, deleted cache, restarted my phone countless times. [link] [comments]

Android users who switch, how's your experience been? Posted: 10 Mar 2022 03:35 AM PST Debating on finally making the jump to ios after 6ish years, but I'm still on the fence. I'm running the s20+ since launch (with a bunch of issues popping up now), and have been an avid pixel user (well up until my ex broke my last pixel). Biggest reason I've been holding off switching was simply due to side loading. But as dumb as it sounds, ever since my ex broke my last pixel, I've been "cursed" on android. Something, somehow will go wrong with the phone, and it's all just downhill from there. So with that being said, how has the experience been coming from an android to iphone? [link] [comments]
iPhone doesn’t remember Bluetooth headphones Posted: 10 Mar 2022 11:09 PM PST I have a pair of Koss PortaPro Wireless that connected just fine for years. But over the past few weeks, I've been having to re-pair every time I've used it. I haven't had the same issue with other non-apple bluetooth devices, and I haven't updated the firmware on my headphones. Is there something I'm overlooking here? [link] [comments]
What to do with 20000+ pictures Posted: 10 Mar 2022 11:04 PM PST Hey guys im upgrading soon from my iphone 11 to the iphone 13 Pro Max. Its 128GB and for the pro max I definitely will atleast do 256GB. Ive always done restore from icloud when going to a new phone but i always end up running out of space and would like to start new. I have 28k combined pictures and videos on my phone. I bunch of it are random screenshots im sure i will never go back to but i am a hoarder and cant bring myself to delete as i think i may go searching for it in the future lol. And a lot are personal pictures as well. So, my question is my photos safe just on the iCloud? Without me restoring it onto my new device? Are there any other suggestions for saving my memories? I dont have a computer. Also, is it positive to only sync messages/notes to my new device? The pictures are the only ones i really didnt want to restore, its just way too many. Thanks! Posted: 10 Mar 2022 11:59 AM PST Hey folks 👋🏻 I have a strange problem. I don't know how to fix this but probably one of you is able to help me. My wife and me both have AirPods. She has the „normal" AirPods (2. gen I think) and I have the AirPods Pros. Her AirPods are connected to her iPhone, mine are connected with my iPhone. So far, so good. Strange thing is: her AirPods often connect to my iPhone. She takes her AirPods out the case to have a call. I get the notification „AirPods xy connected". Her AirPods also are listed unter Bluetooth devices in my settings. Also in iCloud under devices. I have clicked on the „i" button in Bluetooth settings and ignored the device like a hundred times. It goes away but finds its way back to my devices. Same is true for iCloud. Also I resetted both AirPods. But it continuous to happen from time to time. I just don't get it. Anyone experienced the same and has a solution? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]
Would creating a new macbook user for work prevent my employer from seeing my personal data? Posted: 10 Mar 2022 10:30 PM PST Basically this. I was trying to find information regarding this, but I could not find a solid answer. I am also really tech illeterate, so I apologize if the questions seem silly. I have a personal macbook air that I plan to use for work, and the company uses Forticlient for VPN (I will be responsible for recruiting/onboarding). I was wondering if they would be able to access my personal information through VPN if I created a separate user for work, on which the VPN would be installed? Or does VPN cover all users on my macbook automatically, meaning they will be able to access the info since it is the same device? I plan to set up a new Apple ID only for work purposes and use my own user+apple ID for my personal use. Your response is much appreciated. [link] [comments]
factory reset iphone no itunes no icloud no password Posted: 10 Mar 2022 02:39 PM PST my younger sister had an iphone 6s and doesn't remember any of her logins. is it really just a piece of junk now or is there any way to salvage it??? we don't care about data or anything we just want the phone to be usable again [link] [comments]
Use secondary iPhone for initiating calls Posted: 10 Mar 2022 09:17 AM PST There is a neat functionality in iOS which allows you to have calls on other devices: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209456#setup. I have two iPhones, one with a SIM, one without. I turned on this feature so I can accept calls on the phone without a SIM. Works great, however I am unable to initiate a call from the phone without a SIM, I can only accept calls on it. Is this a known limitation? [link] [comments]

Play now/Play later options gone from Apple Music when selecting a song/album? Posted: 10 Mar 2022 10:30 AM PST I noticed the options to play now or play later aren't visible anymore when long pressing a track or album. Anyone else experiencing this? 15.3.1 - 13 PM [link] [comments]
Blocked group SMS text, cannot find it. Not getting group messages. Posted: 10 Mar 2022 06:50 PM PST A while back our group text added a member and so I think I blocked the old one because the group is back to using the old group and I'm not getting any texts from them. They've tried sending me text messages and I don't get them. I've been through as much history as I can and I cannot find the old group. Is there a place I can find the group messages I've blocked? Is it even possible to block a group so I don't get messages? Btw, this is on a mixed SMS group in iMessage so it is a green group. If it was all iCooud/iMessage I might figure it out! I have tried logging out and in of iCloud several times, and now have a new iPhone 13 that the setup was transferred (not setup from scratch). [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Mar 2022 05:23 PM PST Months ago I attempted to consolidate my digital address books across multiple platforms: I even paid for a third-party service to help with this (Contacts+, it's in the App Store), particularly so that I could keep contact-photos across multiple platforms. I screwed up at some point so that now, while all my contacts are the same in Google Contacts, Microsoft Outlook (Exchange), and in my iPhone Address Book (which ONLY uses iCloud Contacts now), each contact is stamped with two Microsoft "watermarks": (1) Notes Field: "This contact is read only. To make changes, tap the link above to edit in Outlook." (2) URL Fields: hyperlinks that all begin with "ms-outlook://people/" and then a string of numbers and letters. I want to remove these fields from all my contacts and I gather that if I had even a modicum of knowledge on scripts or coding, I'd be able to run an automation to do this. I'm not sure if the iOS shortcuts app is helpful, because it all goes over my head. All of my contacts address books are disconnected from each other at the moment. I just need ONE of them to have the information stripped and, after that, I know that Contacts+ will sync the pics across iCloud, Google, and Outlook Exchange. Does anyone know of any way to do this, free or paid, with either an iPhone or a PC? It can literally be done in Google Contacts, iCloud (iPhone), or Outlook (Exchange). Since this is an iOS group, I get that options are limited to iOS, but keep in mind that I do NOT have a mac laptop so I can't run scripts from a Mac laptop—it has to be in the iCloud Web App or something accessible on an iPhone or PC. The solution also can't involve exporting to a csv because those won't contain all the contact pictures, which is the primary thing I need to maintain. It's been a month-long headache with no solution. Going one-by-one to delete the info was what I wish I did at first, but it's pure insanity now. I appreciate any insight anyone has as I'm losing my mind over this (I gather that I created a sync loop at some point with contacts that were in the outlook app, Microsoft People web app, and/or Exchange server and then I merged everything with Google and iCloud and was left with this mess) 😂 [link] [comments]

iOS 15.3 - how to add multiple email address of the same contact/person as an invitee to an event ? Posted: 10 Mar 2022 04:21 PM PST I have my own Contact card in iOS - and it has multiple email addresses (@gmail.com, [at]outlook.com, [at]icloud.com). When creating an event, i want to be able to invite all of my email address, so that the event shows in all those calenders - is that possible - how can i do that? Currently when I try to type all the 3 email address in the invitees list, iOS just collapses them into my 1 contact card and the event gets sent to only 1 of those email addresses.
