But every time I try to change the email, I get an error message that says "This Apple ID is already in use. If you have an email address ending with @mac.com or @me.com, it is already an Apple ID. To sign in with it, simply enter the email address and password. Or you can create a new Apple ID using a different name." I have never set up an Apple ID with the gmail.com account before, and I've also used the Apple ID lookup tool and found no results. What do I do? [link] [comments] |

I had a scare the other day thinking I lost my AirPods and decided today I'd make sure they have Find My Device enabled in case it happens again in the future. I went to go create an account for iCloud, but apparently I already had an account. Cool, just makes this all easier. Well, trying to sign into that account, I discovered that the number I'd used for it I no longer have. I must've made that account ~2.5 years ago and just forgot about it. I can't get into that account without verifying a code sent to the number. Is there any way to bypass this, or have a code be sent to my email or anything else? Would Apple just delete the account for me? It's not a huge deal, I can make a new email and create an account with that, but if possible I'd like to have the account associated with my main email. I currently have my entire music library, organized with album arts, tagged meta data and stuff, all in a micro SD card. I just received a new iPhone 13 mini with 512GB, so I want to transfer all of my music onto it. I also have a MacBook Pro as my main laptop. For the life of me, whenever I try to transfer music to my iPhone I always get steps confused, especially after iTunes was decommissioned. | Can you get rid of the “iPhone findable after power off” prompt for a teenager’s iPhone? Posted: 07 Mar 2022 04:25 PM PST My fiancé's 13 year old currently has an iPhone 6 and they have been getting into a lot of trouble recently (skipping class, going missing for hours after school, saying they're going one place and then going somewhere else). My fiancé uses the Find My IPhone feature as well as every screen time setting possible to track them, but the teen has recently figured out that if they turn their phone off, they can't be tracked. We did some research and realized that the newer iPhones have the function to be able to find the iPhone even when the iPhone is turned off, but looking at our own phones we realized there is a prompt that says "iPhone findable after power off" that you can click and then…disable the ability to find the phone when the power is off. Is there any way around this, so that the teen doesn't have the option to turn off find my iPhone when they turn their phone off? We were about to order them an iPhone 11 until we played with the screen time settings on our iPhone 13s and realized that the find my iPhone while turned off can be disabled, even with a screen time password enabled. Does anyone have experience with this or have any advice? We were excited about the prospect of being able to track the iPhone while it's turned off, but if the teen can turn that feature off then it defeats the purpose of the new phone. [link] [comments] |

The wifi worked perfectly fine on my phone though. We went to their settings and it showed a privacy warning. Why are they getting a privacy warning on their own wifi? And why doesn't it show on my phone. Their roommate is the one that setup the wifi for the apartment. It said "This network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic. The names of websites and other servers your device accesses on this network may be monitored and recorded by other devices on this network" [link] [comments] |

I'm more of a Windows/Linux guy so I've done as much as I can with my general knowledge and need to ask for help. It's on the latest macOS update, it's hardwired into the router, and virus/malware scans come up clean. Despite this, every 15-20 minutes, the internet will just not resolve through Chrome or Safari. Ping works fine, but when on https://speedof.me, the connection will time out after 20 seconds. The only thing I can think of at this point is that the OS got corrupted and would need re-installed, but I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. Has anyone else ran into this or have any ideas of what to check? [link] [comments] |

It's a big file. I went to trim it down and it is making an Untitled 2 copy with the trim and wanting me to save that. The combination of the rushing water and being on a hill meant that it carried off. I'm trying to use Find My on my laptop but it's got my location from my work yesterday. I believe that my phone is on Data with the Wifi turned off via my Widget. Is that why it hasn't updated? I'm kind of convinced that it is 100% lost but I locked it and gave a phone number anyways.
