    I’m new to MacOS, be gentle. Every time I open up chrome, it does this. It takes a few minutes to open because it has to “verify” it. How do I stop it from doing this every time?

    I heard Apple uses Microsoft Azure and Linux for their server stuff…

    But wouldn't a command line-only version of macOS be very good for these tasks too?

    There used to be a separate Server edition of Mac OS X, but that is long gone.

    How to recovery/reset password notes.

    I tried to open my notes but the touch id had problems, so I tried to open it with a password, but I had forgotten. What I did was reset it.

    I tried to open it but it didn't work.

    Note that the new password only works for new notes. I can't open the previous notes and now it only asks for a password

    Hi! I'm a software developer and I feel a bit shameful of not having a deep knowledge of my Mac... (about the files arborescence, etc...).

    So I'm looking for a good book or a lecture to get all this knowledge but I don't even know what to search exactly... (a system programming book ?, an admin guide book ?)

    The only thing I know is that I don't want a beginner's guide because I've almost been using a Mac since my birth.

    Reading reviews about various external CD-ROM readers and the latest MacOSX versions is very sad reading, indeed. Seems something changed with the driver specs so most drives that claim MacOSX support do not work at all with Big Sur and Monterey.

    Any recommendations for a CD-ROM drive that you have actually working with your 11.x/12.x installation?

    Keep system clean vs. Work

    Hi there

    I am crazy keeping my system clean and dont install shit like adobe which runs with 400 background processes all the time. The same with audio plugins which summon an virtual copyright dongle running all the time in the background.

    Sometimes I think I should just use my machine to work and not to have it clean.

    I tried to install it virtually, I tried to install it on my M1 notebook and then screenshare to the big mac but it was all trash.

    How do you handle software that rips your fucking computer with 72726 background daemons?

    Startup Security Utility "No Administrator"

    So I'm trying to install the Seagate Paragon driver for NTFS on my M1 MBA running on Monterey 12.0.1. In order to install it successfully, I need to Allow kernel extensions in Startup Security Utility. However, once i checked the Reduce Security box and hit ok, it showed me:

    "Recovery is trying to change system settings. No administrator was found."

    I have admin rights, in order to get into the Utility i have to login to my admin account so I find it weird that it says No administrator was found. Been finding high and low for solutions but cannot seem to find an answer. Any help appreciated!

    How to enable HiDPI on external monitor

    So I have been trying to get this menu (highlighted it yellow) for my 2012 Mac Mini. I am using it with an 21:1 ultrawide with 2560x1080 resolution and a lot of things are just scaled very poorly. I have found this from a fellow Redditor ( source ) but I just cannot get the exact scaling options. The only thing it offers me are different resolutions but I could choose different resolutions before that. The Github page even shows that you apparently get the GUI just like with other Retina Macs.

    As far as I know the scaling options keep the resolution while making everything bigger. Kind of like in Windows where you can choose to make everything to be 125% as big for example while still keeping the resolution the same.

    I would like for my resolution to still be 2560x1080 but for everything to be larger/ upscaled. I don't want to sacrifice resolution for bigger buttons etc.

    I would appreciate any kind of help greatly!

    Is there a way to bypass T2 requirement for netflix 4k?

    I am sure my 2017 iMac is capable of 4k decoding, but looks like netflix force T2 chip. Is there a workaround available? or install Windows instead?

    How to stop calendar from moving my events around when I change the computer time?

    This really annoys me. How do I stop this from happening? Let's say I have breakfast at 8 o'clock every single day. I'll pencil in breakfast for 8-9. Then, when I go overseas, and change the computer time, all my events change! All I want is for the 8am feb 10th event to stay at 8am feb 10th! It's so annoying. Is there any way to stop this? Is there any way to make them not change times on past events?

    This just started happening to me and wondering if anyone else has this issue.

    If my mac goes to sleep. After I wake it and attach to my thunderbolt dock, the monitor turns on but none of the usb devices work until I reboot the laptop. It's driving me nuts and just started happening recently. I haven't found any posts stating similar issues

    So, every time I the use accept option in brave Grammarly extension and mac os app. It does not change the word.

    I need to retype from the suggestion bar instead of auto-correct. Are you facing the same issue?
