| Posted: 08 Feb 2022 09:21 PM PST so, i just moved and i reconnected my home theater setup and my apple tv (newest gen) now refuses to give me a 4K dolby vision option - the highest format under 'video and audio' is now 4K HDR. (1080p dolby vision is available.) everything is hooked up exactly as it was in my old apartment, with the same cables. i even tried a different HDMI cable to see if somehow the one i was using lost the ability to transmit 4K dolby in the move (eye roll). my tv - a 4-year-old LG OLED - will activate 4K dolby vision if i use its smart tv stuff, so i don't think the tv is the issue. i'm honestly stumped! i've restarted the box a couple times; the only thing i haven't tried is a full reset. basically...help lol [link] [comments] | ||

Since i discovered i could use wireless headphones paired with tv i was blown away i mean its a dream for me, i found a deal for the sony WH1000XM4, half the price of Airpod MAX!

We are in the US and we enjoy watching the BBC iPlayer and the hayu app. I am able to access the services with Nord VPN on the fire TV but I know I cannot install that on the Apple TV. Does anyone have any advice? I see from Nord VPN that I might be able to use a smart DNS but I have no experience with this…(but I am willing to learn). First, is there any way to install the apps on the Apple TV? I have seen other posts about setting up another account maybe? Second, does anyone have experience with Nord VPN and Apple TV? I have an Xfinity gateway and when I attempted to activate the Smart DNS on my Nord account per instructions it wouldn't let me because it is connected to IPv6? Is there a workaround or should I consider another VPN service? Would screen mirroring be a better option or will that result in a picture quality issue? Sorry for all of the questions. We noticed instantly that the Apple TV seems much more of a smoother experience than the fire TV and we are happy with it so far but having the Nord VPN app directly on the fire TV did make it a lot easier to access all of the programming we like from the UK. I guess we can keep the fire tv for those purposes but really hoping there might be a workaround so we can use one device and be done with it. Your expertise it greatly appreciated! Posted: 08 Feb 2022 03:17 PM PST Hi I have a plex server set up at home the connection is hardwired with bt full fibre 900mbps/100mbps I am accessing the plex server remotely in the same country using Apple TV 4K gen 2 via WiFi 5ghz and gets a stable 60-70mbps I'm extremely close to the router. I have enabled on the server settings for maximum quality to be used remotely and also in the player on the Apple TV I have tried the new and old player. The old player only transcodes. I keep getting the error your connection is not fast enough for this server and I cannot understand why? I have even tried disabling subtitles before playing a movie however this does not make a difference. I am only trying to stream 1080p content which uses 4-10mbps which I should be able to Handle fine as no one else is on the server. My aim is to be able to direct play only and not transcode I have a very high spec pc so I know it's not hardware limited. Do you think getting a couple of power line would help? Or should a WiFi connect 5ghz 60mbps be able to handle the streams fine remotely? Been reading about infuse but would like to get plex working as only paid for a pass recently. Posted: 08 Feb 2022 07:25 AM PST In the past, I used to be able to add and authorize my desktop browser in the YouTube app settings by navigating to "youtube.com/activate", then entering the TV code that is shown on the Apple TV. When I try this now, I'll get an "code not valid" message in the browser. I also noticed that the app now only mentions that this given code should be entered in the mobile app, which I think wasn't mentioned in particularly before. | Posted: 08 Feb 2022 08:11 AM PST Hello all. I have the most recent Apple TV 4K, a Sony STR-DN1080 receiver, and an LG CX OLED TV connected by high speed HDMI cables. When I set the chroma to 4:2:0 everything works fine, including Dolby Vision. When I try to switch the chroma to 4:4:4, there is a noticeable flicker where the screen goes black every 10 seconds or so. When I hit the power button it pretty much immediately booted the tv and changed the input to the Apple TV. After I had that for a week I had a friend sell me his really cheap because he wasn't using it. It's the same 4K model everything is identical but for some reason when I hit the power button on this one it turns on my tv and I have to hit another button on the Apple remote to get the cec to engage and switch the hdmi and everything just take a bit. However, as soon as I back out of it and open it back up again, it will not connect to the Apple TV. I have to wait about 10 mins before it works again. Using the updated OS.
