Does Anyone Feel Like iOS Apps Have Stopped Progressing?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 07:39 PM PST

I remember 10 years ago when I just got my iPhone 5, one of my favorite things to do is to check the App Store front page and see the new amazing apps/games, all well polished and fun. Notability, Heads Up!, Angry Birds, Subway Surfers, Temple Run, the list goes on and on.

Back that time I think to myself "Wow, what a time to be alive, imagine how great the App Store will be a few years later!". Now 10 years later, I open up the App Store front page, what do we have?

Notability, Heads Up!, Angry Birds, Subway Surfers, Temple Run

I mean, what the heck? I know these are amazing apps/games and they deserve all of the reputations they have, but 10 years later and they are still the best in the field with minimal change? The biggest change I have witnessed is the subscription model. Did the developers happen to hit the jackpot and come up with the best app that will ever exist?

I still enjoy the apps and the Apple ecosystem, but the whole experience has changed from "Discovering new and innovative stuff" to "I have to use them because there are no other better options".

PSA: DON’T PAY FOR QR SCANNERS ON IOS

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 03:50 PM PST

I feel like sometimes Apple doesn't advertise some of the amazing features they put out enough. For example, in iOS, the camera app has a built in QR code reader. Yet, the App Store has a couple extremely popular qr scanning apps that require you to PAY MONEY to use them. Guys, if you are doing this, stop. Those are basically a scam. I found this out while I was curious if there were any apps for scanning maxi code labels from UPS. Just point the camera app at the QR code and it will detect it.

I sent an email to Tim Cook and I got respond from Executive Relations.

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 10:02 AM PST

Long story short, I sent in a MacBook for keyboard replacement, I got the MacBook back broken, not turning on. The repair center said it's was not turning on when they got it, asked me to pay $678.

I called phone support, then went to my local apple store, nothing works. I need to pay!

So I sent an email to Tim Cook, twice actually from two different email address, the next day I got reply from Apple Executive Relations. The manager gave me a call and assured the MacBook will be sent back in for repair at no cost. Just finished my call and I'm waiting for the box right now.

    Thumbs up to Tim Cook!
