It's saying I have to verify an old one from when I had an iPhone 5 a few years back, but that card is long gone and I have no way to remove it. It won't let me set up my current debit card until I do something with my old card. How do I change the name of my MacBook Air? It says "test's macbook air", and when I Google how to change it nothing comes up. I'd like for it to be my name. How do I set up the Shortcuts and make my home screen look pretty like new Apple products on my iPad? Is it too old to do this? It's running iOS 15.2. Can I text other Apple users on my iPad using wifi? Google says I can but I'm not sure how to set it up. Should I update my MacBook Air to MacOS 12.1 Monterey? It's an old MacBook, not sure the exact model, but I'm worried I'll update it to something it's not powerful enough to run and ruin it. I'm using it exclusively for school and casual browsing and wouldn't like to unnecessarily over complicate things. How do I manage my files on my iPad? I need to understand how iCloud works and about its privacy levels (details in the post) Posted: 02 Jan 2022 04:15 AM PST Before you think I'm dumb below reason, here is the backstory about why I'm "scared" of clouds in general. I'm also at a basic literacy in IT. What happened is that I had a gmail email and didn't know that it came with an account, so when it was hacked there were people who knew my browsing history as well as my email contents and I couldn't understand why. I was really scared, I didn't know why changing password didn't work (I was told later that I would have had to logout from all devices, I knew nothing of it). Basically I went into a Big Brother scare because they were commenting and mocking until I closed the email. Later on I started using an iPhone (I already had an old MacBook) because at some point to keep using WhatsApp you needed to download it from a store and not anymore from their website. I was and still am confused about what does it mean to have an account. Is the same as having an account on Reddit or a forum? Or is there somewhere that keeps tracks of everything you do and store it? Just to avoid you thinking that I need privacy for shady reasons, is just a mix of that bad experience with the gmail and partly because I want to google personal problems or embarrassing questions, if someone googles "what to do if you are depressed" the last thing they want is to have it stored for the future when you are happy and want to forget about it. I regularly delete my browsing history every day for that reason too. Now I have to buy a new MacBook (Air this time) and I have heard that you have to insert your Apple account credentials in there. What does it means? So fare I don't have it on the old MacBook and I don't know if I can cope with something or somebody somewhere keeping track of everything I google or read. Does it also makes the computer the same thing of the phone, meaning that you find the same things on both and if you change one it changes on the other too? What I want is my computer to be a private space for alone time like if I were in a library or journaling. I have started somewhat recently to use the iCloud backup function on the iPhone to save: photos, notes, safari bookmarked websites, contacts and the basic settings. Where are those things? There is somebody's computer somewhere who has my pictures? It's lots of plants photos for that matter, but is it like I have given an usb key to a friend and they put the pictures on their computers? Same for the notes? Possible (and legal) to buy music with US gift card? I've seen people recommend have a friend living in the US buy and send me an ITunes gift card, then I would redeem towards buying those music files. In an attempt to fix my iPhotos/Shared Album issue, I will need to try to sign out and in of my AppleID/iCloud. Before the sign out, a screen prompt tells me something something will be lost/saved. But even after reading it several times, I still don't quite understand what I stand to lose if I sign out. IPhone X Screen is Black, Phone is On Posted: 01 Jan 2022 10:08 PM PST Randomly today my IPhoneX screen went blank and nothing I've tried has resolved this issue. I know the phone itself is working because when I plug a charger in, I hear the charging tone. I've tried doing a hard reset multiple times(vol up, vol down, hold power). I think the phone is actually resetting because I can't hear the charging tone for a couple minutes after attempting the hard reset while plugging in a charger, but the screen remains blank. I've owned this phone for a few months and I've never had any issues until now. I've been going out of my way to take care of the phone, I've never dropped it, no water damage, etc. This issue came up seemingly randomly. Apple apps still using some storage after deletion Posted: 01 Jan 2022 03:43 PM PST I deleted Podcasts, Voice Memos and Books from my iPhone 12 mini. Yet, when I look at the Storage tab in the settings, they are still there (with the iCloud logo next to them, indicating that I properly deleted them). Is there a way to permanently get rid of these apps and fully clear the storage space they use? I have never used any of these apps, so it's not like I downloaded podcasts or books before deleting them. If I click on "Delete app", it does nothing. Oh, and just to be clear, I have deleted these apps from my phone; I have not simply removed them from the home screen.
