How can an iPhone cost the same as a Macbook?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 05:28 AM PST

I never really realised this obvious fact but the new iPhones cost the same, if not more than new Macbooks. One is a phone and another is a portable computer thats multiple times more powerful. Is development of phones nowadays so complex that in comparison creating a much more powerful laptop is a walk in the park? Macbooks are much bigger devices with bigger screens and more powerful components but perhaps size isnt the only thing that matters?

    Switching from Android to iPhone

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 03:14 PM PST

Has anyone else switched to/back to iPhone after being frustrated with poorly optimised apps? For example, posting stories on Instagram using android seems to downgrade the video/picture quality, despite the camera being on par with that of an iPhone. It's so frustrating and is tempting me to make the switch

Tip - When you have native app open, activate Siri and say "Remind me about this". This will add a link to your Reminders.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 07:30 AM PST

I'm new to iPhone so apologies if this is already well known.

    Example:

If you're writing a note, or have a note open in Notes, activate Siri (by saying "hey Siri" or holding the power button) and say "Remind me about this tomorrow".

This will add the title of your note to the Reminders app, along with a link to the note, and will remind you about it the following day.

You can also do this with other native apps like Mail, Messages, Photos, etc.

Android converts, what took the most getting used to?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 09:36 AM PST

I've switched fairly regularly, but always found certain aspects harder to get used to when going back to IOS.

Your contacts being organized by the opposite name always throws me for a loop.

I always miss double tap for camera.

Dual sim: esim using cellular data from physical sim?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 05:47 AM PST

I have an iphone 12 and I have a physical sim for travel and my esim is for my home number. I'm currently out of the country and I have 0 bars reception for my home sim, the carrier says they don't even have roaming available where I am. Next to my 0 bars of reception it says "using cellular data." My cellular data is set to my travel sim. I'm still able to make and receive calls and texts on my home number. Is my esim using data from my travel sim to connect to my home network? Trying to figure out what's going on here. Not sure if it's an iphone specific thing.

S20 to 13Pro, will it be upgrade in terms of pictures? Especially telephoto

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 02:48 PM PST

    Hi,

As in a title, I know video will be upgrade, but what about pictures? Maybe any of you tested it or hopefully did that switch and can share their experience? Thanks

Easy add multiple contacts to a Focus on your iDevice with a Mac

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 09:06 PM PST

If you want to allow all contacts or nearly all of them in a Focus but you have hundreds of contacts and it's a daunting task then on a Mac go to the Focus settings in Preferences. On the Mac you can select multiple contacts using Shift click. You can do the same thing with apps but it's highly unlikely the apps on your Mac apart from Apple apps will be the same as on your phone.

Why I sold my 12 Pro for a 13 mini.

    Posted: 31 Dec 2021 04:29 PM PST

I loved my 12 Pro but I got fed up of its weight. I'd have it in my hands for an extended period of time to chat with someone back and forth and it's so annoying to really feel the weight of the object in your hand. To me, technology must be seamless, weightless. The best tech is the tech you don't even notice. It's there when you need it, and disappears when you don't.

I was using a silicon case on it, and the problem became even bigger. I hated feeling it in my pocket taking up so much space.

I couldn't be happier with the 13 Mini. This thing is so light you don't even notice it! It does exactly what I want technology to do : disappear in the background.

So yeah, just a mini (lol) rant about the weight and size of the 12 Pro. Screen real estate was great, and so was the telephoto. But they weren't enough to justify the daily annoyance.

Which phone version has the best video camera? Particularly for capturing the grainy indoors.

How are your 13 leather cases aging?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 08:44 AM PST

Just the tittle, how are your leather cases doing for now? Any bad thing to note about them? Do you feel them better than 12 ones after these months? Are you happy with them? Or maybe you regret not buying another brand?

I'm curious about it and see what treatment are they giving to the 13 cases after the complains that the 12 received.

Slight disappointment with iPhone 13 display compared to my iPhone 8 Plus display

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 05:28 PM PST

The 13 is a beautiful phone obviously. The only complaint I have is the aspect ratio of the display. Although it has HDR and the pixel count is higher than the iPhone 8 plus, the overall screen size seems to be smaller than the 8 Plus in most situations even though the diagonal measurements are 6.1" for the 13 and 5.5" for the 8 Plus.

The aspect ratio of the 8 Plus is 16:9 which fits 1920x1080p HD content. The 13's aspect ratio is 19.5:9. This means that when you are watching 1080p content and you put the phone in landscape, the screen will adjust the aspect ratio to fit the content but you end up with a lot of dead space on the screen around the video.

Even using the 13 in portrait mode I'm still getting used to how tall and thin the display is compared to my 8 Plus. The 8 Plus's display is overall bigger in most situations and I think it is a more appropriate size for most content.

To be fair this is a problem that goes back to the iPhone X. Do you guys think Apple will bring back the 16:9 aspect ratio screens?

To be honest: Im increasingly disappointed with the iphone 13 main camera

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 02:11 PM PST

I changed from an android phone (Huawei P30) to the new iphone 13 recently. First of all I was impressed by the iphone (display, overall built, handling etc.), but now as I have used my iphone for photography on several trips, Im a little bit disappointed. The camera is far worse than my old Huawei P30. With the Huawei I could basically take out my phone and make a high quality photo suitable for a picture frame at all times. Now with the iphone you cant really zoom in (only 5.0 compared to about 40.0 with the Huawei) and the overall quality of the pictures is not as good as with the Huawei (image resolution 12mp vs 40mp). Of course it is also my fault, because I did not research about the camera enough before I bought. But on the other hand I would expect a 850 euro worth phone to have a better camera than this (my Huawei was only about 500 Euro btw). On top of that, I looked into the data of the iphone13 pro and the camera doesnt even match the quality of the Huawei P30 as far as I understand it ( bare in mind we speaking about a price difference of about 500-600 euros in this case).

What do you guys think about the camera of the iphone 13? Does it fullfil your expectations and needs in daily usage?

Does anybody else want a narrower phone?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 04:17 PM PST

I understand that the iPhone has the mini line but does it seems to anyone else that it's still not small enough to use with one hand?

    Perhaps if it was narrower.

    What do you think?
