Question about AirPods Pro in MacOS Monterey Posted: 14 Dec 2021 09:28 AM PST Hey guys, just a quick question about the latest version of MacOS. I am still running MacOS Big Sur as I didn't want to risk upgrading while I have university assignments due and am still frustrated by the fact that AirPods Pro don't seem to switch between MacOS and iOS in the way Apple said it would. My AirPods will switch from MacOS to iPhone with ease, but will require lots of extra steps when I try to switch back - is this fixed in the latest version? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Logging in to Mac user profile using Google account Posted: 14 Dec 2021 08:10 AM PST Hello, To slim down on the amount of accounts/credentials my colleagues need I'm trying to figure out whether or not it is possible to use our Google account to access our macbooks, instead of creating a local user with a password that can't be changed from a distance. I thought Secure LDAP should work, and I tried to follow this guide, but I don't really get what I'm doing here and after setting this up I don't understand how to "add" a specific account. I was wondering if anyone here could point me in a new direction (or tell me if this is possible at all). Thanks in advance for your replies. [link] [comments]

Cant create new movie in iMovie... Posted: 14 Dec 2021 07:09 AM PST Feeling kind of stupid here. Howcome I cant create new iMovie projects? I needed to delete the old files and than drag files for the new movie, to get it to work. The option to make a new movie is ALWAYS greyed out. :( [link] [comments]

Freeze/Doesn't work external monitor Posted: 14 Dec 2021 09:45 AM PST Since the very last update, I'm experiencing HUGE problems with external monitor. I have a USB-C/HDMI cable connected to a 24' monitor. Either:
I'm precising I'm using in lid-closed mode, I'm only using the external monitor. I, sometimes, success to make it work but I don't know how... Does someone has the same issue? If I need to wait one month for a fix, I'll explode. [link] [comments]

For what do you use Force Click? Posted: 14 Dec 2021 09:14 AM PST Just upgraded to an M1 Max from a 2014 MacBook Pro. I tried the new Force Click to define words (use this at least 10 times a day), but much prefer the old way of clicking with three fingers. I've not really found any other uses so disabled Force Click. Is there something I'm missing or should try? [link] [comments]
iCal / Google Calendar Integration Options Posted: 14 Dec 2021 05:28 AM PST Hello, I feel like I have scoured search results for an answer, but the search terms isn't bringing me to something specific enough. I added my Google Calendar Account ti iCal so I could see several different calendars. At work, I have about 15 calendars shared with me. I went into the settings and turned off invitations / notifications (Although I DO want to keep this option on for my work calendar). It doesn't matter, I keep getting invitation requests for all 15 calendars in the notification center (and the ability to accept/reject, which seems odd). Is there a way to get rid of this. I can uncheck them all so I don't view them, but the notification center is blowing up and it's making it not worth the integration. It seems possible, but the options are extremely limited when it comes to the calendars themselves. (Running Big Sur) [link] [comments]
Question about menubar and multiple displays Posted: 14 Dec 2021 08:41 AM PST Hi all, is there a way to stop the menu bar from becoming greyed out on a secondary monitor when you change the focus to a window on your primary monitor? I like to use fullscreen (without the menubar) on my main monitor, and I have other windows and stuff up on the secondary monitor with info in my menu bar I want to be able to see. But when interacting with my main display, the menu bar is too faint to see on the secondary monitor. If its not possible to disable this, is there a mod/app or something third-party I can install to disable it that way? Btw, I am not talking about how the bar itself shows the background color behind it. I'm talking about how it faints out everything in the bar including all the icons and time and stuff when the second display itself isn't in "focus" [link] [comments]
Should I buy MacBook M1 pro-2021 14 inches? Posted: 14 Dec 2021 08:08 AM PST Hello everyone, I am an iOS developer by profession. I am planning to buy this year's MacBook but having confusion regarding the apple silicon. Because I heard that the majority of things are not working correctly because of the change in architecture, not every app is shifted to this architecture but also heard that rosetta is saving the day so being an ios developer I think I can survive but I also work on other stacks as well like react, etc so other than iOS development will I face any issue regarding that or should I wait for another year. Because right now I am using the 2019 MacBook pro and it is working slow on the development so should I go with the apple silicon or buy the last year intel one [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Dec 2021 07:36 AM PST Support couldn't find the download file and the software won't let you download it again. Support then suggested I redownload the entire operating system. Those idiots. I won't install Monterey until it seems less buggy. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]

Why does a Mac in Sleep Mode wake up when I close the lid? Posted: 14 Dec 2021 06:46 AM PST Seems somehow unlogic to me... - I have a 2018 MacBook Air and keep it most of the time in sleep mode as it's a bit tricky with getting all the connections right (external monitors, bluetooth keyboard - especially since Mojave came out) when starting up. But keeping the Mac in sleep mode is not an easy task, as it interprets every wrong movement (e.g. switching off the Magic Mouse to avoid it interfering with the Mac's sleep or even closing the lid of the MacBook afteer a while as a "wake up event" and so it keeps waking up unwantedly quite often. It's almost like a little kid you bring to bed and hope it wll be still sleeping when yo close the door. Is the maybe some kind of "shut up and stay calm" setting, that would wake up the Mac only when I OPEN the lid or press a specific button (even better)? BTW: PowerNap is deactivated if this should have an influence. [link] [comments]
How to load iPhone Version on Monterey Posted: 14 Dec 2021 02:47 AM PST Hi guys, does anyone have an idea how to get the iPhone-Version of an App instead of the iPad-Version? The iPad-Apps take huge amounts of screen estate for some trivial apps. Couldn't find anything in the AppStore. [link] [comments]
Unknown reason Facetime HD Camera is on 12.0.1 Posted: 13 Dec 2021 10:43 PM PST So, I got a notification from MicroSnitch that my FaceTime Camera was on, I checked the privacy settings and there wasn't anything there that was allowed to use it. I checked remote access and screen sharing, but nothing had permissions there (other than the default airplay receiver) How panicked should I be? Microsnitch specifically said that the Camera was on, but the Microphone was not. [link] [comments]
Keychain issue with Monterey question Posted: 14 Dec 2021 05:46 AM PST I have a couple M1 Mac and I have an issue when I boot up sometimes or randomly I will get a pop up for a service/app that needs access to my keychain. When I see this I know that my keychain is locked I will get prompt after prompt to authenticate for keychain access eventually I loose my work vpn and Bluetooth. This happens on both macs and one has nothing installed other than a Clean install of Monterey and it it happens on that one too. Is this happening to anyone else? [link] [comments]

What is an ideal monitor for a MacBook Pro? Posted: 14 Dec 2021 04:35 AM PST I have a 32" 4K UHD monitor from Samsung and MacOS looks fuzzy when I plug my MacBook Pro into. Is there a different monitor I can buy that would make MacOS look better? My Windows laptop looks okay when plugged into it. The text is sharp and not fuzzy. [link] [comments] |
