Window snapping should be the default window management style... no excuses for Apple here Posted: 02 Nov 2021 10:48 PM PDT I'll avoid you the long repetitive rant you hear every now and then from someone who switches from Windows. Microsoft's window management system is simply way ahead of what MacOs currently does. The inability to instantly undock and reduce windows into discretionary sides and corners without dragging and dropping the window corners is very unproductive. I know there are various 3rd party tools on the App Store that will do it for you... But for real... time for Apple to make it the new default. [link] [comments]
Bluetooth headphones cutting out? USE THIS FIX! Posted: 02 Nov 2021 03:43 PM PDT After multiple trips to Best Buy (to return my new Gen 3 AirPods) and multiple hours on the phone with AppleCare, I still could not figure out a way to stop the irritating audio cutting out issue found in Monterrey Luckily user u/WheelofTime101 provided a simple and easy fix
Thanks again to the user who found this! [link] [comments]

I'm also connected to my own network/wifi/internet at home. After they send it, they just asked me for its serial number(I think for the damage/warranty purposes only?). Just a brief about me, I do web development. This is gonna be my main computer only and will store some personal data in it. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Tab Groups... Am I a tech grandpa? Posted: 02 Nov 2021 08:14 PM PDT I just updated to Monterey and saw the new tab groups feature that came long with the new version of Safari, and I think maybe I'm just not understanding how people generally use a web browser. I'm pretty used to always closing a tab when I'm done with using it, so I never have a surplus of tabs open. My question is: does having a ton of tabs left open in tab groups not use a ton of memory? This is probably me not understanding how safari does this, but I don't want to leave a ton of stuff open for fear of chewing through RAM. Maybe this is just me being used to chrome devouring my system memory, but I would like to hear how other people use this. Tbh it would be nice to have curated groups of tabs, it just seems very alien to me to have so much left open. How are y'all using tab groups? Thanks, sorry if this isn't the place to ask this! Any idea how likely Vulkan from Valve will allow gaming on MacOS? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:23 AM PDT I don't know much about the subject, but one of the big things keeping me from buying my first MacBook is that I like to game, and Windows and native hardware support is where the games are at. But Valve is developing a cross-platform API called Vulkan that could bring gaming to all ARM-based machines. In the case of MacOS, Vulkan will be translated to Apple's Metal API via MoltenVK. Any idea what the status is on this? Can people like me who are new to Mac expect the just-released M1 Macs to eventually support a wide range of AAA titles via Vulkan API? [link] [comments]
System Data taking up 125Gb of storage?? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:20 AM PDT I have a 13 inch m1 macbook pro with the base 256 gb hard drive. I mainly use for work email, light video and photo editing, and some light web based gaming. My system data is taking up a whopping 125gb of storage on my hard drive. That is separate from the 15.7gb that mac os takes up and the 50gb of apps and documents I have saved. Does anyone have experience with this or know what this system data could be? Its taking up half of my hard disk space. Edit: I recently upgraded to Monterey, I'm not sure if that caused this issue, I don't recall seeing this much system data before. [link] [comments]
Mirroring iPad screen onto MacBook Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:18 AM PDT Does anyone know how to mirror iPad screen in the same manner, as Zoom allows: as a separate window? One can do something similar with QuickTime Player, but that requires the devices being wired. Monterey made it possible to mirror iPad screen wirelessly, but it's not the same as in Zoom feature, as you can't do anything on a laptop without stopping the mirroring, as it just dominates the screen. Posted: 02 Nov 2021 06:53 PM PDT What's considered the best way to browse Reddit in MacOS? Tbh I prefer safari but it randomly reloads or blanks out on reddit so I'm looking for another option. I also enjoy Apollo, but being a mobile app the text is too jammed in the middle to be visually pleasing. What's the consensus? [link] [comments]

Macrumours: trio of friends create missing Monterey wallpapers Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:40 PM PDT Macrumors has published a post about people who went out and took photos in Monterey, California with the intent to make a macOS monterey wallpaper. They even made a dynamic wallpaper, so I'm assuming they set up a tripod and took pictures in intervals. Anyway, here's the news and direct download links: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/11/02/missing-macos-monterey-wallpaper-created/ Download links Static wallpaper: https://www.vyncher.com/s/Lone-Cypress-Sunset-alt-5K.jpg Dynamic wallpaper: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0da69co3f5ndnnv/AABun_JC1-tz0f64M3iNX7HQa?dl=0 (EDIT: the dynamic wallpaper link is broken. Maybe Dropbox removed it because of extremely high network traffic?) [link] [comments]
ARD 3.9.3 on Catalina not allowing use of Shift or Copy/Paste Posted: 02 Nov 2021 06:39 PM PDT Recently got an Intel mac mini, and now when I remote into any machine I can't use shift or caps, and copy/paste seems to be broken no matter what the shared clipboard setting says. Things still work fine on the computers I am connecting to on my old High Sierra machine. Anyone know what could be causing this? [link] [comments]
M1 and Logitech MX Master 3 - finaly without delay Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:12 AM PDT Finally after almost a year not using my MX Master 3 with my M1 Macbook Pro the Monterey brings fast response time and the mouse is finally usable. It was pain to use it because of delay...but now it's fixed...amazing news. [link] [comments]

new to macOS, seeking some recommendations Posted: 02 Nov 2021 06:01 PM PDT safari seems to use a lot of energy, but, I like its cross website tracking block. what other browser or extension offers good tracking blocking? how about an ad blocker that blocks web and YouTube ads without collecting my personal information? finally, what app can I use to track my computers temperature, etc. thank you in advance.
