| AppleTv randomly goes to No Signal? Posted: 24 Nov 2021 06:45 AM PST Just got an ATV, its cut to no signal randomly a couple times while being on. However, the TV still can be controlled with it, and the TV recognizes it in the input list; TV just says No Signal. I reset the HDMI cord, change ports, and unplug/plug in the ATV. It seems like some random combination of those make it work again. Any idea what could be going on? [link] [comments] | ||
| AppleTV warned Game Center ID already exists Posted: 24 Nov 2021 01:25 PM PST [All devices are updated to latest iOS release] So, I am at a lost and hope someone can help me. My wife & I use to share an Apple ID, until we found out you can do family sharing. We created separate accounts awhile back with family sharing. Today, we went to add her account to our Apple TV. She follows the on screen instructions and it said:'This Game Center ID is already signed in with another account on this device' We canceled out and checked her Game Center on her phone and it was her email. I checked her iCloud, App Store, Game Center, & mail accounts. Nothing has my email address. I looked under Apple TV for my profile and it shows my email address for all three options. We signed out of Game Center on her phone and resigned in. This time the Apple TV did not give her a warning, but when viewing the Profile, Game Center is signed in as me. Her watch just gave her a message to open settings to sign in as me for a purchase? Am I missing somewhere I should check? I am trying to avoid having to wipe our phones. I appreciate any help. tl;dr: My account is showing up signed in somewhere on my wife's device. We check everything we can think of. [link] [comments] | ||
| DD+ 5.1 vs. DD 5.1. Does it matter? Posted: 24 Nov 2021 09:17 AM PST I have a Sonos Arc, Sub, and 2 Ones with the 2021 Apple TV 4K. My TV is an LG that does not have eArc (only Arc) but it does passthrough DD+ so I am able to get Dolby Atmos with this setup. My question is with regular 5.1 content. Since my TV can't send the uncompressed LPCM data over Arc, my Sonos app says DD 5.1 is playing (not DD+ 5.1). When I use a Roku with passthrough/bitstream capabilities and play regular 5.1 content, it shows as DD+ 5.1 playing. Is the sound I am getting through the Apple TV that is showing DD 5.1 actually worse than what the Roku is doing that says DD+ 5.1? If so, does it make a huge difference? Edit: I know both formats are lossy Edit: From experience, which sounds better? For regular 5.1 content (not atmos), passthrough bitstream showing as DD+ 5.1 or Multichannel PCM 5.1? Thanks! | Posted: 24 Nov 2021 09:56 AM PST Hi, I just recently got into the apple ecosystem and bought an Apple TV 4K for the bedroom. I have a 2021 sony tv with a Sony soundbar with subwoofer built in. My problem is every other time I turn on the apple tv, my tv says switching audio to internal and the sound only comes out of the tv even though the soundbar is on. When it works properly the tv says switching audio to external and the sound comes from the soundbar. How do I get this to happen consistently. For more info my soundbar is connected via hdmi arc and the Apple TV is connected directly to tv via hdmi 1. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 24 Nov 2021 03:45 PM PST I have a high end Sony Bravia TV for streaming that I'm pretty happy with; however, I can only connect one pair of airpords to the TV at a time. My wife and I would like to both be able to use our airpods at the same time and it appears that this is possible through the latest Apple TV. I did a search for "shared audio" on reddit and amazon reviews and got some conflicting information.

To control the volume I have switched the settings on the Apple TV to "via IR," because I have noticed considerable input lag when controlling the audio through HDMI. For some reason this setting resets to "via HDMI," and I don't know why. I have made sure that "auto" is not enabled. Any suggestions would be great. [link] [comments] | ||

| “TV speakers” missing from audio output Posted: 24 Nov 2021 12:20 PM PST So, I have the previous gen 4K appleTV hooked up to a 2021 Samsung "The Frame" tv, with stereo paired HomePod minis as the speakers. All very convenient and easy to use. I also have a home theater system setup over optical out of the tv, but when I have the HPMs as default audio the "Television Speakers" disappear from the output options in control center. If I go to the settings, the option is there as a default audio source, but is it normal to not be able to select the TV speaker as a temporary output from control center? I just want to be able to quickly switch to the home theater speakers, but have it default to the HPMs for daily ease of use. [link] [comments] | ||

My observation/opinion: Compared to 2020/2021 OLED and QLED no difference in streaming quality (bitrate) don't let the numbers fool you. It's basically different compression codecs and size of buffering. Apple TV+ content will show a range of 25-45mbps on your bandwidth monitoring tool versus 10-25mbps through your TV is not a direct representation of the bitrate you are getting. | Disney+ app not streaming IMAX enhanced content in 4K? Posted: 24 Nov 2021 08:50 AM PST I just noticed all the IMAX enhanced content is not tagged as "4K Ultra HD". They only say IMAX enhanced and Dolby Vision. Non-IMAX content is still tagged with 4K and DV. TV is Sony A9F OLED and the same content on the built in D+ app is tagged as 4K in addition to IMAX and DV. Is this some kind of bug? Is D+ dropping to 1080p for IMAX content? I checked my HDMI cable through the ATV and it says it's fine. My settings are 4K SDR with match content and frame rate turned on. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 23 Nov 2021 07:36 PM PST Not sure how or why but for some reason out of the blue the youtube app on my Apple TV stopped tracking my watch history. It works on my phone and my laptop but not on the app. Is anyone else having this issue? The only wild thing I did was to change some settings so that it would stop Age Restricting me an act I'm very confused by seeing as I'm pushing on 40. Anyway, any feedback would be of great help. I've deleted and re-downloaded the app 6 times now, linked it to my phone, signed in and out about 4 times, as well as paused and un-paused Watch History tracking. At this point I'm out of ideas... Never connects, can navigate, but any voice doesn't register when pressing the mic button. And just continues to pop up the bring remote closer. Remote is 90% charged. I recently got fiber through Ziply (Frontier offshoot). I recently hooked up a TP Link unmanaged switch from my ONT directly. From there it branches out to three other spots throughout the house. When hooking up directly through ethernet on my laptop I have no issues. As soon as I connect my Apple TV through ethernet I get nothing. It comes up as a generic IP address of 169.xxx.xxx.xxx. I can't get auto switching to work for the Apple TV but it does for other devices. I read something about Apple TV always outputting a signal, even when sleeping, which could cause this. Posted: 23 Nov 2021 10:30 AM PST Because it takes place in Mexico, Acapulco switches between English and Spanish throughout each episode. Usually AppleTv would show the English subtitles for when they're speaking Spanish, and no subtitles when they're speaking English. I started this week's and it isn't doing it anymore, i can either have subtitles on for all of it or none of it. | Posted: 23 Nov 2021 07:09 AM PST Hello guys, I hope you can help on this one. So, I used to AirPlay videos from safari to my Apple TV 4K via iPhone 11 and 12 pro. Since I got the iPhone 13 pro max I can't seem to do it. I press the thing on control centre to AirPlay and as soon as I press play on the iPhone, the tv flashed black and goes back to the home screen and the video pauses immediately on the iPhone. AirPlay works fine for music and screen mirror works without any issues. Both devices are on the same network. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
