RIP Touch Bar. I'm the only one who will miss you. Posted: 31 Oct 2021 06:49 PM PDT When the touch bar came out, I was against it. I refused to buy a new laptop for so long until my 2011 air finally died of old age. Then when the M1 MacBook pro came out, I bought it, and turns out I liked it more than the buttons. It lets me answer calls easy and switch tabs while working easily. And I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who doesn't hate it lol. I'll use my current M1 until it dies and I'm forced to buy one years from now lol [link] [comments]

Haptic feedback on FaceID Unlock Posted: 31 Oct 2021 05:25 PM PDT This probably isn't new to everyone, but I wanted to resurface a haptic feedback setting that I quite enjoy. For those with FaceID, go into settings, and under search, type in: Haptic on Successful Authentication. The last setting under that menu should be disabled. Happy unlocking! [link] [comments]

Shhh! - a party game for SharePlay Posted: 31 Oct 2021 05:40 AM PDT Hey r/apple, I'm sure you've already seen, but SharePlay came out this past week! This is super exciting for me, because I've been working on a party game for SharePlay the last couple of months. The game is Shhh! (that's the name of the app, not me asking you to keep something secret). The game should be familiar if you've played any social deduction games like Mafia or Spy Fall in the past. These types of games are always so much fun, and seemed perfectly suited to FaceTime. The basic premise is that all but one player know a secret location. They must keep this location hidden from the spy, while also deducing who the spy is through a series of questions. It's free, so if you're looking for SharePlay games to try with your friends, please give it a shot!
Have fun! AppStore link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/shhh/id1587614308 Website: https://shhh.games Shhh!'s Twitter: https://twitter.com/shhhthegame My Twitter: https://twitter.com/CarsonKatri [link] [comments]

Safari extension Map Redirect to redirect all map links on every website to the app of your choice Posted: 31 Oct 2021 04:30 AM PDT Thank you for all the helpful feedback. I was asked to re-post my Safari extension Map Redirect this Sunday. I have released a major update with added support for DuckDuckGo, Bind Maps, and some limited support for Waze as well. For those that do not know yet, Map Redirect is a Safari extension that redirects all map links on any web page to be opened in the app of your choice. Just click the map link or any "directions" button on any website. It will then redirect you to either Google Maps, Apple Maps, HERE WeGo Maps, Bing Maps, or Waze, based on your selection. If you want to be fancy, you can select "Ask Me" and it will always popup the options for each click. This works for search results on Google but also on any other website. Here is the link to download. As promo, the extension is for free for the coming days: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/map-redirect-for-map-links/id1590589672 Notes: *Bing maps only work on iPad. On iPhone, Apple decided to automatically redirect to Apple Maps. *HERE WeGo deeplinking support is limited to only links with geo-coordinates *Waze Deeplinking support is limited to only search from your current location to what is around you I build this extension because I was frustrated on iPhone and iPads that you have no choice to open map links in the map application that you want. There is "Mapper for Safari" but it only works on Google Search. There is "Opener" but it still requires additional clicks and copy/paste. Unfortunately, there is no default app settings for any map links for any website you visit. The idea was to have one extension that works across the web. With the security features in iOS you can enable the extension only to specific sites or to any website you visit - either for only one day or forever. - Simple setup as Safari Extension on iPhone or iPad - Scans any website you visit for map links - Rewrites map links to your target that you choose - Select "Ask me" if you want to be prompted each time - Does not track or collect any data Of course, map links can come in various forms and different parameters. So, it was not easy to find all map links and correctly redirect them. It might be that some links are not correctly recognized or redirected, in that case please add a comment and I will take a look and to improve. Thanks for your continued feedback [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2021 11:12 AM PDT I'd like to share out a passion project of mine. Runable was built so you can spend less time writing out running plans or thumbing through books and more time running. You can find running plans from Hal Higdon, Hanson Method, Jeff Galloway, & more. There are running plans from from 5k to 50k and at varying levels. There are no ads, no tracking, and no in-app purchases. Other features include creating your own plan, schedule reminders for individual runs, 3 day weather forecast, and more features coming. All free with no in-app purchases. Thanks /r/apple Sie: http://runable.app Download: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/runabletraining/id1583136975 [link] [comments]

What has your macOS Monterey experience been like? Posted: 31 Oct 2021 03:55 AM PDT I'm running a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" and did a clean install. So far the system as a whole feels snappier than Big Sur. I can't take advantage of most of the new features due to the system's age (3D Maps, AirPlay to Mac, Universal Control,…), but I'm enjoying the polish and I'm guessing under-the-hood improvements. Enabling unlock with Apple Watch worked without a hitch the first time (I often had to go through the pairing process multiple times in the past) and switching AirPods between devices works better than before. Only gripes so far have been an issue with BitWarden (unrelated to macOS), and an issue with Safari that caused it to crash twice already when clearing the download list (also installing Xcode still takes ages). Posted: 31 Oct 2021 04:10 AM PDT Sneak peak of the app here- really happy with how it turned out... Beta users can fully update the app for free while beta testing. Any comments, critiques, bug reports are of course much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
