    I have been a macOS user since 7 years now and I absolutely love it. There are still instances where I don't understand the fundamentals or the architecture or why is this thing this way?

    Are there any YT channel where someone digs everything inside macOS? From the UNIX architecture, sandboxed applications or macOS as a whole?

    Short code messages not showing up in message app on iMac, but do on my iPhone

    EDIT - In case anyone else finds this searching for the same issue. Looks like when I updated from the iPhone 11 to the 13, message forwarding got turned off. It is in settings -> messages -> text message forwarding

    Usually when logging into sites on my iMac that have 2FA turned on, the message will show up in my message app and my phone. When it shows up in my message app on iMac, I can auto type in the code to whatever site I am logging into and its really convenient, but in the past week or so I am noticing the messages are only going to my phone.

    Regular text messages between friends/family all sync between devices, but the 2FA messages, or any short code messages actually.

    Any suggestions or thoughts?

    I went to general -> about and tried to initiate a carrier service update, but nothing. Mac is up to date as well.

    So I copied some videos from my MacBook to an Toshiba external hard drive then I try to open them on my windows pc but some of them are corrupt how can I fix that ( picture of the windows pc with some videos available ( the not faded ones )

    Lost windows

    Hi all,

    I have a Mac mini m1 with two screens, and have a bit of a vexing issue. I sometimes lose app windows. They are active and open, just hidden in some way. No amount of coaxing, asking nicely, begging, pleading, and outright yelling will bring those windows back. Whatever app is hiding them (all apps exhibit this behavior) will show them on expose, or mission control, but clicking them will still not show them. Can anyone help? Thanks!

    External Monitor isn’t working from MBP

    I have a MBP 2011, I tried connecting external display with my mac. My macbook recognise monitor connected but there is no signal on external monitor, it is showing black screen only. I tried differ monitor but facing same problem, I even tried different cable to connect, but isn't working. I tried with MacOS Big Sur and MacOS High sierra as well, please help

    and transcripts of mailserver activity. Are these safe to delete? Or will I end up deleting my mail?

    Help me find a hidden 30+ GB!

    Hello all. I am running up against a full storage issue. However, something is taking up storage and I can't find it. I've narrowed it down to one folder. I get info on my user folder "fabiobandini" and that shows 65.55 GB. It contains 10 folders. They are:

    Applications, 1.2 MB Desktop, 238 KB Documents, 22.1 MB Downloads, 6 KB Dropbox, 42 MB Movies, Zero KB Music, 231.8 MB OneDrive, 406.6 MB Pictures, 34.93 GB Public, 6 KB

    Clearly, the 35 GB in photos plus nine other folders combined at under 1 GB do not add up to 65.55 GB. I don't even know where to begin to hunt down where this extra 30 GB of data is. Are there "hidden" folders like in Windows? Trash is empty, rebooted, can't get it to add up.

    Can't erase external USB devices or create bootable USB for Boot Camp

    I'm trying to install Windows 10 with Boot Camp Assistant, but it won't create a bootable USB.

    I also can't erase any USB devices with Disk Utility. These devices erase just fine on my more recent M1 Mac so it's not the devices causing an issue.

    Running 10.14.6 on an i5 late 2014 MBP, did a fresh install of Mac OS last night and that didn't fix the issue either.

    Opening new browser window fast

    This has been annoying me for too long and I would like to know if there is a solution.

    Is there a keyboard shortcut which I can use to open a new Firefox window in my current desktop/space?

    This seems like a simple problem which can be solved with just cmd-N. The problem arises when I have multiple desktops/spaces.

    Say for example, the first space has a firefox and notes window open. The second space has a firefox window and notes.

    Now I create a third space, and I want a new firefox window. What's the fastest way? There are a few solutions:

    1. If firefox is in focus, just use cmd-N. But usually, it's finder that's in focus
    2. Click on the firefox icon in the dock for it to gain focus, then use cmd-N. This works, but it's slow because it requires an extra step. Sometimes, when I click the firefox icon, it takes me to a different space, which is really annoying
    3. Right click the firefox icon and click "New window". This works without fail all the time, but it requires the extra step, while I want a hotkey solution

    I'm using an M1 MacBook Pro and randomly facing this error (not happened before) where Music's memory usage shoots up and the application force quits.
    Any reason for why this happens? My guess is a memory leak but not sure.

    Any solutions?

    Using MBP 2019 15in macos big sur 11.6. iPhone 12 iOS 15.0.1

    I have 2 email ids one is GMAIL and the other is Hotmail. I have flagged sample emails in my macOS Mail app to test the following.

    Some are from my Inbox in both email ids and some are from folders in each of those emails.

    Firstly, the Mac app shows flagged emails from all the folders in each of the email ids in Flagged folder on the Mac app. The iOS version only shows Flagged emails from Inbox in both the email ids.

    Secondly, I have coloured my hotmail flags as blue and left gmail ones as red. The iOS mail app does not reflect these changes.

    Humbly request you guys to kindly help or guide me if I am doing something wrong or is this the way Apple intends it to be?

    "Your disk could not be partitioned" boot camp error

    When I try to bootcamp with boot camp assistant it always just says "Your disk could not be partitioned. An error occurred while partitioning the disk. Please run First Aid from within Disk Utility to check and fix the error."

    I've run First Aid multiple times and it always passes with a green checkmark. I've looked up some pages that tell me to check and remove any partitions that say free space, but I don't find any. Here are my specs:

    macOS Big Sur ver. 11.6

    MacBook Pro 16in 2019

    1.11TB available of 2TB

    Windows 10 May 2021 Update ISO

    Accesing another Photos Library

    Hi,

    My father had a passwordless user account on my machine and his own distinct Photos Library. That account no longer exists on my machine, but I still have his Photos Library.

    Is there any way I can access my father's library while logged into my own account and import his images and albums into my personal Photos Library? Paid software okay, but obviously a free solutiion would be great.

    Can I just change user permissions on the library to allow me to access it?

    Multimedia Issue: Plugable (DisplayLink) + MacBook Pro M1

    I'm using a Plugable UD-3900Z (Driver 1.5.0, Build 58.125) with a MacBook Pro M1 (macOS 11.6), which somehow works pretty fine with two external displays. I feel content most of the time. Nevertheless, the issues come when I stand up from the desk and leave it for a moment. So, when the screens go dark, and I sit down again, no video or multimedia player works. So, I have to unplug and plug the Plugable and, sometimes, restart the permissions to share the screen. It's a little annoying. Do you know how to fix this issue?

    Is there really no third-party driver to allow pre-High Sierra Macs to read/write APFS drives? Paragon used to offer one, but it was withdrawn in 2018.

    High Sierra

    Hi everyone, I have a bootable USB with High Sierra on it, trying to downgrade an iMac with Catalina but keep getting an com.Apple error -3 and it asks to restart and try again but it never changes. I've used the usb on a MacBook Pro to do the same thing and it worked fine. Anyone any ideas or tips or tricks? Would really appreciate any info.

    scanning with preview on mac

    So I'm trying to scan in my office with my mac and my new Epson scanner. My problem is finding a simple way to do so as some people who work in here are struggling. I want to find a way to open the import from scanner--> my printer name with a short cut or something instead of opening preview and going to the file menu. Using image capture is not working for me but preview dose other then it lacks simplicity
