Beware purchasing used iPhone from Gazelle. They cannot verify if a phone has been fully paid off!

    Posted: 12 Oct 2021 01:22 AM PDT

Hi iPhone fans, just wanted to share a cautionary tale about Gazelle.com as I just went through a really shitty experience with them.

I purchased a used iPhone SE (2020) from them recently and while it seemed find at first, the next day my carrier said that my network/service was blocked. To add insult to injury, when I tried to put my SIM back in my old phone, the service was STILL blocked. My carrier had blocked my SIM card just from being in this shitty Gazelle phone.

Luckily I could use another phone to call Gazelle, where they told me that the phone was showing it had pending payments, meaning the person before me had bought the phone on contract, didn't pay it all off, then sold it to Gazelle. They effectively sold me a dud phone.

I asked the Gazelle rep, how could this happen, don't you check for this!? And they straight up told me it was showing clean when they checked it before the sale, but it was tripped when I put my SIM card in. That means they had no way to verify if it was a dud or not. Absolutely ridiculous. The rep didn't even seem to care, they just got right into the refund process like it's normal for them. Therefore, I would wager that they have a lot of blacklisted phones in their inventory. I won't be buying from Gazelle again.

After being on the phone with my carrier for over 2 hours, they were finally able to remove the block from my SIM card so I could use my old phone again. Of course they said it was Gazelle's fault. Both companies were just pointing fingers. Overall, it was such a waste of time.

Tl;dr: Bought an iPhone SE (2020) from Gazelle, it was blacklisted, my carrier blocked my SIM card, had to fight with both Gazelle and my carrier to fix everything.

Does anyone have microscope pixel comparison photos from all iPhones up to 13 Pro Max?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:30 PM PDT

I remember when these were popular but haven't seen them in years. And I can't find any recent ones using google searches. Would be cool to see the progression of the pixel shapes and sizes on these newer screens.

Why did the white color iPhone went out of trend ?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 01:07 PM PDT

I'm not exactly sure, but I think it was from the iphone 4 to the iphone 5S, that it seemed like the white color was very popular, maybe even the most popular one.

But since the iphone 6 or maybe 6S, it's seems so much more rare to see someone with a white iphone ?

    Why is that ?

I came to think about that because I'm thinking of buying an iphone 13, and at first I was decided on the black color but then I saw the starlight color and it seems quite good. So then it made me think about that...

    iPhone 13 Pro Charging Issues

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:00 PM PDT

Hello fellow r/iPhone members, I've been having this issue with my iPhone 13 Pro where it will stop charging briefly when I move the charger inside the port (phone being picked up, held, etc.) I've tried three different cords and the issue persists, but all of those cords were USB A. I tried with two usb C cables and those worked flawlessly. I talked to an Apple representative and they told me that the iPhone 13 Pro no longer supports USB A cables for charging. Surely this isn't true? I'm curious to know if any of you are also facing this issue and its frusturating me. I want to take my phone to the Apple Store but the issue is somewhat sporadic while also being frequent.

Frame your iPhone 3GS and hang it on the wall!

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 08:59 AM PDT

So, I saw an article about a company which is disassembling old phones and stuff, and then frame the separated parts so that you can hang a framed picture of it onto your wall.

They do, for example, have a framed iPhone 3GS in their store which costs 169 USD currently. You can check it out here: https://gridstudio.cc/collections/iphone/products/grid®-3gs

This was the inspiration for me to do my own version of it, because of 2 things:

    1. I still have my old iPhone 3GS laying around in its original box

    2. I thought I could make that on my own and maybe a bit better

So, I decided to do it.First step was to create a Photoshop file with all the parts, lines, names and stuff. i was taking the pictures on the website above as a template.

In the process I quickly realized that the design and layout for the 3GS on their website is not correct in some occasions. So, I had to redo parts of it and also add some new things. You can see what I changed if you compare the images I shared below with the ones from the website above.

Once I finished my Photoshop template, it was time to disassemble my iPhone 3GS. This was fairly easy with the instructions on the iFixit website: https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPhone_3GSAfter everythings was disassembled, I cleaned everything and stowed it away.

Next part was the frame and the printing of the Photoshop file. For printing the Photoshop file, I contacted a local copyshop. They were able to print it in high quality in a size of 30cm x 30cm on a very thick paper. Almost like some cardboard. The frame I ordered had to be one which could hold at least the display and backcover of the 3GS in it, as these parts were the biggest ones. So I ended up ordering this one here: https://www.photolini.de/3d-bilderrahmen-tief-schwarz-modern/bilderrahmen/objektrahmen-objekt-bilderrahmen/a-11982That frame can hold pictures which are 30cm x 30cm and is 3cm deep. Perfect for what I was trying to do with it.

Once I got the frame and the printing, it was time to glue everything in place. For parts like the backcover or the display which are very uneven or have large "holes", I was using foam which I cutted in parts. After everything was glued onto the printing, I had it last for a good day and then framed it.

And here is my own old iPhone 3GS in its parts framed and waiting to have it checked out by me and others.

If you want to do the same thing with your iPhone 3GS, you can download the 2 images (the one without graphics and with graphics). It's 1:1 size for what I used.I used the file without graphics for printing, and the file with graphics as a template when I was glueing everything.

Here's the gallery with the 3 pictures:

I hope you like it and give your iPhone 3GS a new life. :)

Need help!! Suggestion for iPhone XR wallet case

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:00 PM PDT

Hi, all! I am looking for an iPhone XR wallet case but can't find what I want. I got this from Amazon but hard to remove a card, you have to remove all of the cards (3 cards in my case) when I want to use a card.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J9N8X81/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The other one I got also from Amazon didn't fit the size so I had to return it.

The smartish iPhone case is attractive but it horrified me after I read many reviews saying the back of the iPhone cracked.

I am looking for one that holds at least 3 cards, plastic, silicon, or genuine leather. Also, I am looking for the type that won't cover all of the fronts of the phone. Does anyone have suggestions? I looked on Amazon so many times but couldn't find any.

    Thank you!

Is the Belkin Rockstar worth the money or should I get a cheaper adapter?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 10:09 AM PDT

Im gonna be getting a new phone, and the phone I have right now has a charging port and a headphone jack. But the Iphones don't so I need to get an adapter because I have to be able to charge and listen. There's a lot of cheap ones on amazon but I think that the iphone doesn't have an amp or dac so if I get a cheap one then I'll get a crappy amp and dac. So if that's the case then it probably would make sense to spend a bit on the adapter, but I'm not sure.
