Posted: 30 Oct 2021 05:58 PM PDT Omg. The screensavers. I didn't buy the AppleTV for the screensavers because I didn't know about it. Now the screensavers is what I love the most about it. It's the best thing on an LG OLED TV. It's mind blowing how beautiful the 4k video capture it is. [link] [comments] |
How is the picture of “see” so sharp and perfect? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 07:23 AM PDT "See" is by far the sharpest and best quality picture I have ever seen on any movie or TV show, and I watch a LOT. You can see every little detail in every shot. Even in dark scenes there's no visible noise like in every other movie/show I've ever seen, it's truly breathtaking. Am I the only one who's noticed this? I've just watched the first 5 episodes on my new MacBook Pro 14" and I'm just blown away by both the sharpness of the filming, and the screen and HDR on the MacBook. Not even multi million dollar films come close to the picture quality of this, so I'm just wondering about the magic behind it. Is it the camera? The processing? I've no idea, but everyone should be doing it! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 12:35 AM PDT Hi guys! Last week I bought my very first AppleTV (4k), and I love it! There's one thing that annoys me, and I'm not sure how to fix it. The YouTube app won't refresh. Every day, when I start the app, the 'home' sections shows the same videos. I'm used from my PS4 that every time I scroll through the menu of the YouTube app and hit the home section it refreshes those videos. But not on my AppleTV? Is this a setting somewhere? AppleTV+ episode freeze when trying to resume an episode (15.1 bug) Posted: 30 Oct 2021 04:32 PM PDT So I noticed this issue shortly after updating to 15.1 where if I start an episode of an AppleTV+ show (say tiny world for example), it doesn't matter at what point I stop, but if I stop the episode and try resuming it from the up next section, it will 100% freeze and will not resume from where I stopped it. The only fix is to fast forward or pause and play on the remote but this results in the episode always starting from the beginning. It's not the worst thing in the world as I tend to watch all these episodes in one sitting but it is a bit of a pain still. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if there's a solution? I can confirm this was never an issue prior to 15.1 as well. Also for whatever reason, this is only with AppleTV+ content. Other apps are unaffected. [link] [comments] |
Do Apple TV Siri Remotes ever go on sale? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 05:43 PM PDT I would like to replace my Siri remote with the new 2021 model, although I find that at $69.00 CAD it's somewhat over priced. Do Apple accessories such as the Siri remote ever go on sale? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 01:24 AM PDT Sorry if this has already been discussed here but I couldn't find anything online. I have family who have recently purchased a holiday home. They like streaming shows etc off their iPad using Netflix/YouTube and a chrome cast at home, however chrome cast requires wifi. Since it's a holiday home and they aren't there all the time they don't want to pay however much it costs to have internet connected year round. Can you use an Apple TV to stream from their phone / iPad without wifi (eg. Just using their phones 4g) If so, will the Netflix app / YouTube apps work on Apple TV like this?? Thanks. What is the best way you've found to play UHD MKVs to your Apple TV 4K? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 04:30 PM PDT I've just picked one up because I was sick of the bullshit of my LG TV. I'd like to avoid anything like Plex now is and play 40GB MKV Linux Tutorials at the highest possible quality with subtitles if necessary and all the drippings. How do you do this most effectively? The MKVs are sitting on my macoOS laptop's storage, some have Atmos audio, some are H.265, some are H.264 [link] [comments] |
Apple Music app: Wish it had Visualizers like Geiss and Milkdrop Posted: 30 Oct 2021 09:25 PM PDT I have this large 4K screen. I'd love some visualizers to stare at. [link] [comments] |
Will Sonos speakers automatically turn on with AppleTV? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:34 PM PDT Sorry if this is a dumb question. I have an AppleTV paired with 2 original Homepods. When the AppleTV starts playing, the homepods automatically play sound. I have another AppleTV in my bedroom connected to an older soundbar via bluetooth. I have to manually turn on the soundbar to play sound. I'm looking to get some Sonos speakers and wonder if they will automatically detect that the AppleTV is playing audio. [link] [comments] |
Apple TV remote with new wifi? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 11:07 AM PDT Hi! I was gifted a used apple tv without the remote. Since I have it on a new wifi, it won't connect to the apple tv remote app on the iPhone. How can I fix this? I can't find an Ethernet port in my house to connect that way. Are there other work arounds? Would buying a brand new remote even work? Thanks in advanced for any advice, it's appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Episode titles not in English? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 08:28 AM PDT So, I'm currently in a country which has its own alphabet and the titles of the episodes have started appearing in that alphabet. I'd like to be able to read the episode titles. Is there a way to get them back to English? [link] [comments] |
Issues with not letting AppleTV Sleep ? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 11:12 AM PDT I am wondering if anyone here does not let their AppleTV from going into sleep mode? I have an AppleTV 4 (1080) setup in my office hooked through an older Yamaha receiver and recently when trying to get it to come up through the receiver it takes a bit and then the screen will refresh multiple times with digital static till it properly comes up. I've tried my 4K AppleTV and it has the same issues on the same input. I hooked to the other 3 HDMI inputs with both AppleTVs and the same issue happened. Other devices hooked through the receiver do not exhibit this behavior. It is not the AppleTV as I have hooked it through another TV through a receiver and TV and the behavior does not happen. My best guess is how the AppleTV triggers the HDMI signaling through the receiver. Not letting it sleep and letting it stay "awake" the issue did not happen. Has anyone else had similar issues? Are there any issues with not letting the AppleTV go to sleep? I know in Enterprise and school environments I have set them this way to enable "anytime" connection as a conference room display. Surround Sound on Apple TV 4th Gen Posted: 30 Oct 2021 07:53 AM PDT I posted this a few weeks ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/appletv/comments/pz7sbl/best_video_player_for_apple_tv_4th_gen/ I've updated my setup now so I've got Apple TV -> HDMI -> AV Amp I'm still slightly unsure about how best to play video files from my home server in order to get the best surround sound. Regardless of which app I use for this (tried VLC, InFuse and MrMC), everything shows up as PCM sound on the display of my AV amp (a Yamaha RX-V3800 FWIW), which I guess means that the Apple TV is automatically converting to PCM itself from DD/DTS/whatever. So I think that's ok. Am I right? VLC seems to play DD/DTS stuff ok but I tried a couple of films with DTS-MA and it went a bit wrong - centre (dialogue) channel missing, for example. MrMC didn't have this problem (but I don't like MrMC much - very clunky to use). Shame - I'm a long time fan of VLC for Windows but it seems generally a bit flakey on tvOS/iOS. InFuse seems to be very popular (certainly was in the previous thread I linked to above anyway). It seemed fine with surround sound when I tried it out (free 1 week subscription). I'm reluctant to spend £45 (US$60) on the Pro version though, but maybe others feel that it's worthwhile. Then again, maybe I should just spend £9 (US$12) on a 1-year subscription, in the hope that at some point in the future VLC will work a bit better! Grateful for any advice, comments, etc. Thank you.
