| My iPhone Xs Max will not display anything but its still running Posted: 11 Oct 2021 10:27 PM PDT The phone is running as I can hear sounds from it and can still interact with the screen, but the screen is dark and I don't see anything. If I force shut it down and turn it back on while it's in the charging cable this will sometimes fix this, but I'm not sure how to permanently fix. I've restored the phone to factory settings and it's still doing this so I know it's not the software, right? I'm just so confused and would really appreciate some help, thanks! [link] [comments]  |

Side note, if I try and connect to them while they're on/near the person who stole them, would they connect? Like if I tried to connect to them near a backpack of someone I suspected? The "24" Cinema Display is the 2010 model I believe and I connect it using 3 cables that are connected to the display - the power cable, USB, and display port. | Background windows dimming on Mac OS Big Sur (11.6) and I don't know why! Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:59 PM PDT Hey everyone - I am on a MacBook Pro 2019 with the latest version of Big Sur (11.6). I have an issue where the apps in the background of my screen dim behind my main window (see above). There are apps on the App Store that do this, such as hazeover. But I have never installed anything like it and I don't see anything installed. I have tried restarting, making sure latest software is installed, different monitors, etc. I have also had a friend take a look and make sure I am not missing anything. Thanks for your help! | Calls not working properly on CarPlay Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:04 PM PDT So, recently, whenever I connect my phone to CarPlay and try to make a call the screen on my head unit shows the call being made. Yet, I cannot hear it ringing, nor the person I'm calling when they pick up. They also cannot hear me. The only thing that seems to remedy the situation is to unplug from CarPlay, restart my phone, plug in and call again. It seems that preemptively restarting my phone also solves the issue (temporarily) Any advice would be great, thanks! | Is there really no way to download full resolution photos from icloud onto your iPhone? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 08:59 PM PDT Is there not a way (from my phone) to download the full resolution photo from a shared album in icloud photos? I honestly don't think there is, but I would love to be wrong. My wife took a picture (from her iphone 13 pro max) yesterday of one of my kids, and I really liked it and wanted to use it as a wallpaper for my phone (13 pro). She put it into a shared album that we have for pictures of our kids, and I downloaded it from there (by going to the photo in the shared album, tapping the 3 dots, and selecting "save image"). I cropped in a little bit while setting the wallpaper, and noticed it was more blurry that I thought it should be, so I checked the photo info and it had only downloaded a 3mp version that was 860KB. The original on my wife's phone was 12mp and 4.1MB I cannot for the life of me figure out how to download the full resolution version. She could airdrop it to me, but why is that necessary? What if I was out of town or needed it right away? She has to email it? That removes almost all of the convenience of using a shared album in the first place. After some googling it seemed like I could go to icloud.com from my phone and download a zip file of the full resolution version, which would technically work, but again... what the hell? Why is that necessary? Could there not just be a little option drop down when I save the photo asking if I want the full resolution one? But, it didn't matter anyways because I tried it, and for some reason you cannot access shared albums from icloud.com on your phone. So no luck there either. Also, to be clear, I do have the "download and keep originals" setting turned on, so that isn't the issue. So... I don't know. I spent hours googling this and haven't found any solution. I also found several threads from the past few years on apple's support website where others are having the same issue, and none of them were ever resolved https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252113907 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8184908 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252049743 Anyone have any thoughts? | Posted: 11 Oct 2021 05:03 PM PDT Hey, guys dropped my iPhone XS in a puddle by accident and I got an alert when I plugged it in, it said to unplug the charger because water was detected in the port. So I held my phone up right in a well air conditioned room and waited, I plugged it back in every 2 minutes or so and after about 10 minutes the alert stopped popping up and my phone is charging up like normal but am I in the clear? I recently factory reset it cuz of a glitch in updating it, but that also reset all my preferences for the settings, and I remember I was able to make the screen time out after 5 or 10 min of inactivity. But now I can't find a way and Google isn't helping either. So now, I turn to you wise Redditors. If it's any help, I have a MacBook Air, year 2020, macOS Big Sur 11.6. | Restoring iPad within the 15 minute limit Posted: 11 Oct 2021 03:50 PM PDT My toddler got ahold of my iPad and disabled it. I start it in recovery mode and have it connected to iTunes on my MacBook but it tells me an update needs to be installed before it can be restored. We are on satellite internet (pretty slow) and I don't think the update is able to download within the 15 minute timeframe before the iPad exits recovery mode. After 15 minutes the iPad returns to the disabled screen and iTunes doesn't even recognize the iPad is connected. Is there anyway to pre-download the update on my computer to help speed along the installation process? [link] [comments]  |
| iPhone 12 Pro Max Not Detected by Windows PC Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:02 PM PDT Hey everyone, I've been having an issue with my Windows 10 now 11 desktop detecting my personal iPhone 12 Pro Max. I've troubleshooted everything, updating drivers, different usb cables etc. The interesting thing is that this desktop works with detecting with my girlfriends iPhone 12 Pro Max and my old iPhone 6s Plus. When my phone is connected to the desktop, my phone will ask me to trust the computer however after pressing "Trust" it does not appear on my desktop (iTunes or photos app). Desktop Specs:
My phone can connect properly on a different windows laptop and a macbook. So the the problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max seems to be isolated with just my desktop. Is there any solutions before I factory reset my iphone? [link] [comments]  |
| Video frame rates extremely low on MacBook Air? Posted: 11 Oct 2021 06:52 PM PDT I'm on a 2017 MacBook Air (13 inch), and I've begun to come across an issue lately. I believe it occurred when I updated to the most recent operating system (11.6 Big Sur), and videos have been nearly impossible to view since. Both for watching and recording, the frame rate is probably like 0.5 FPS, if I'm lucky. No exaggeration, I counted 6 frames over a 13 second video I took on Photo Booth, and that same lag is for videos on any browser or app. Literally everything else works fine, including the audio on the videos, but just videos on this latest operating system have been impossible to watch because of appalling frame rates.
