    I'm using Big Sur, and I'm confused about creating keyboard shortcuts to launch applications (editor, terminal, finder etc). Coming from linux I used custom shortcuts for preferred apps and I'ld like to do this in macOS as well

    As the title says, lets talk about which usb-c hub do you have and how bad/great it is. Which ones do you not recommend and if we should use the charging port or not. Are the X in 2 better than the X in 1 hubs?

    Am looking for your experiences so you can help me and other lurkers to choose!

    As far as I know, it's better to not charge the macbook at least all the time through the hub charging port, so that stands that the hubs X in 1 are better? Right now am tempted with this anker 7 in 1 ($34.99), should I buy it?

    Big Sur: Telling me constantly that certain apps can't be installed (which I downloaded on iOS)

    And these apps aren't in the app store on MacOS. So where can I stop the system of trying to download it again and again? I deleted those apps on my other devices but still no change.

    Unable to drag files between spaces, using gestures, on Big Sur using Magic Trackpad 2

    I recently, finally, updated from Catalina to Big Sur. The upgrade process was surprisingly issue free, however, I now cannot click and hold a file, and use 4 fingers to swipe between spaces to drag the file to. I am able to do so using my built in trackpad on my Macbook, but not on my Magic Trackpad 2. I have attempted all troubleshooting I could logically do. Is this a known issue? That gesture is a major part of my workflow, and I am hoping this is something I can fix.

    Isn't Time Machine supposed to delete old backups...

    When the disk gets full, instead of bitching at me that it can't complete a backup because the disk is full?

    And why are the backups so damn huge every time anyway? I don't do anything on this M1 mini but browse the web, and its backing up tens of gigabytes of stuff every time.

    I told it to do a backup now with the time machine window open in system preferences and it said it found 78,000+ changes... WHAT CHANGES?

    Family sharing a iMac

    I got a new iMac for my family, which is being used by my Mom, brother and Dad. My photos, messages and calls from my iPhone pop up on the Mac too. I do not want them to read or see any of that. What do I do?

    I somehow broke my Photos app - Can anyone assist?

    Hi all. Since I got my iPhone 13 last Friday, iCloud photos on my Mac Mini stopped updating. On my laptop it updated just fine, so I figured it was something with the Mini. I tried logging out and back in to iCloud, forcing syncs, but nothing worked. I tried to create a new library and then make that the primary library, but Photos keeps crashing whenever I try to do that and Photos itself won't open the original library anymore.

    I have all the photos backed up, I just wanted to see if there's any finagling I can do before reinstalling MacOS or something like that. I have already tried the Photos repair tool but that did not work.

    I am so confused

    I am trying to format my late 2016 i5 MacBook Pro and accidentally erased my Macintosh HD drive, and it's gone and that's fine. But I cleared my boot camp partition too and realized that I deleted every disk and the blue screen. Well I managed to reinstall macOS, but it installed on the boot camp partition that is only 60gb and that is the only disk in disk utility.

    How do I undo this mess? I am missing like 190gb!

    Sidecar on unsupported Mac (Big Sur)

    I have iMac 21.5" late 2015. It has Big Sur but for this computer sidecar is officially unsupported.

    Automatically Open Downloads Folder after downloading in Safari

    Hi there,

    I'm curious if there's a way to somehow make it so that after downloading a file in Safari (I'm on Monterey which shouldn't make a difference) to automatically show it in Finder (Downloads folder). Yes, I know I can click the downloads icon and click the show in finder button, but is there a way to automtically do this? This is different than "automatically open safe files after downloading".

    How to get back a Chrome Extension deleted file? macOS Big Sur

    Hi! I deleted a Chrome extension and I need back a file. The Chrome extension's folder disappeared when the extension was deleted and I know it is possible to recover. I'm using Data recovery software but is only showing the existing files in my computer

    It was a 000003.log file

    First time ever using a mac, can i turn on auto correction on every app?

    Hello everyone, i bought my macbook air m1 yesterday and i am actually in love with it. I just had a question though. Can i use auto correction on apps like whatsapp, safari, chrome? I'm not a native english speaker so i usually forget adding apostrophe when i type. Auto correction does it for me. It does auto correct me on Notes app, not in whatsapp though. Is it possible?

    Cant mount HFS+ usb

    I'm at my wit's end with this.

    I accidentally wiped my other Macbook so now I'm trying to write Catalina onto an external boot drive to recover it.

    All of my USB drives were exFAT formatted, so I thought it would be super simple to convert them to HFS+, just pop open Disk Utility and erase them.

    Apparently, not so. The HFS formatted drives refuse to mount; formatting them back to exFAT makes them open just fine again.

    Hey.

    My question to the Apple Silicon and Linux users; as of today, how do you use Ubuntu (or any other Linux Distro) on M1 MacBook? Parallels, UTM or any other virtual machine software, or native installation? Why do you prefer one over another?

    I need suggestions as I want to use also Ubuntu with macOS. I can use virtualization but I would prefer native, if it won't be a hassle to setup. So what are your opinions?
