Apple Watch might just have saved me from a stroke. Posted: 29 Sep 2021 03:17 PM PDT Two days ago, on Monday morning I felt quick pulses. I ignored it and went about my day. Monday night I was a bit worried and decided to sleep with the watch. Tuesday morning I woke up with 3 AFib warnings and pulse warnings up to 170 while sleeping. I did a couple ECG with the watch during breakfast and all showed AFib with high pulse of up to 160. I visited my doctor, they did a proper ECG, and detected AFib, which confirmed the Apple Watch's results. Tuesday afternoon I was admitted to the emergency, underwent treatment and was released today, Wednesday with preventive stroke medication. Thanks to the Watch I reacted much faster than I would have otherwise. Never thought I'd have such a story of my own to tell, but Apple got a loyal Watch customer for life here. Now me and my wife plan to get Apple Watches for my parents and parents in law. I'm 40. [link] [comments]

So you have a preferred sleep band? Posted: 30 Sep 2021 03:48 AM PDT I have a few bands, that I end up swapping a couple times a day. I've got a couple non Apple leather, a Nike sport band and a Nike sport loop. I tend to sleep in the sport loop more often than not. Just wondering if I am the only one that specifically swaps bands for bed time. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2021 05:18 AM PDT I just bought my very first Apple Watch, an SE running watchOS 8, and love it so far. Didn't know that the level of app sophistication for such a small form factor is that high. GPS and heart rate sensor provide highly accurate information. The big storage provides lots of space for offline music from Spotify. I so far owned a Fitbit Inspire HR, a rather simple fitness tracker which however did a brilliant job tracking sleep. It properly detected the sleep and wake cycles. I can't really judge REM and light vs. deep sleep though. I found the various sleep tracking apps for Apple Watch to be highly inaccurate. I tried Pillow and AutoSleep. While they provide nice visuals, the data seems pretty off. I actually thought that an Apple Watch would do even better than a Fitbit Inspire HR due to additional (like noise) and more sophisticated (accelerometer vs. accelerometer/gyroscope) sensors. The only sleep tracker for the Watch doing a decent job in detecting sleep and wake phases is Apple's own which however is rather rudimentary. I googled the app developers of the different sleep tracking apps and couldn't find any scientific background. So I suppose that the sensor data is either misinterpreted or certain data is not taken into account at all. Those sleep tracking apps seem to have won quite some App Store awards, guess for the number of downloads, which however increases the necessity for Apple to provide decent sleep tracking as those apps just seem fool to people. What's your experience with sleep tracking with an Apple Watch? Are there any apps you can recommend? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:14 AM PDT As I understand it, I need my GPS non cellular watch to be in bluetooth range of the iPhone for Siri to work. Correct? If I change to a cellular watch I gather I can then use Siri out of range. Far away in fact. Correct? If that is so, what sort of hit does this make on my data allowance? Roughly equivalent to one call? [link] [comments]

How have you used your Apple Watch to successfully lose weight? Posted: 30 Sep 2021 08:02 AM PDT It's getting harder and harder for me to keep my healthful promises to myself (mostly eating, but sometimes I skip exercise too). What specific apps have helped you stay healthy and lose weight? [link] [comments]

Benefits of Activating Celluar? Posted: 30 Sep 2021 07:29 AM PDT Now that Watch OS8 has been released I am considering activating the cellular option on my S6 watch. Before I plop down $120 / yr, has anyone seen a benefit to having cellular? I ride my bike for exercise and would consider leaving the phone at home during rides or occasional hikes. How is it in the real world for you? [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2021 07:09 AM PDT Hey everyone. I'm planning to buy my boyfriend an Apple Watch but was having trouble with the band size. I can't exactly measure his wrist without being too suspicious so was wondering if someone could help me out. For the record I've wrapped my fingers around his wrist and my thumb and index finger close around it. Also let's say I do get a band size and it's incorrect, is it easy to go in store and change the size? Thanks in advance. Also is there a major difference in the 40mm vs 44mm. I initially thought of getting the bigger screen but felt the smaller one might look better on his wrist (is it mostly just preference?) [link] [comments]
Apple Watch no longer recording VO2 Max since watchOS8 upgrade Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:58 AM PDT Upgraded on the 26th, since then no VO2 Max results are being recorded in the Health app. I'm going on runs and walks over 20 minutes, the runs may not qualify in some cases due to low level of effort, but the runs are ~30 minutes in length and my heart rate is above 130bpm for a vast bulk of the time. Anyone else seeing similar or just me? [link] [comments]
Since watchOS 8, periodically my screen stays on when charging (series 4) Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:50 AM PDT Ever since upgrading to watchOS 8, several times I've awoke to my series 4 Apple Watch screen staying on while on the charger. Interacting with it briefly seems to put it back the display back to sleep. Anyone else noticed this behavior? [link] [comments]
Apple Watch won’t charge or turn on Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:34 AM PDT I've had my Apple Watch for only about two months and everything has been smooth sailing up until now. I went to put on my watch this morning and it won't turn on, and I just noticed that when it's hooked up to the charger, it is showing the Apple logo on the screen and not the lightning bolt as it usually does (but the Apple logo comes and goes - it doesn't remain on the screen). Is it the charger? Is it the watch? I am using the charger provided by Apple and the watch is not beat up by any means. I take good care of it and - like I said - it's still practically brand new. Any ideas? I already tried holding dow the lock button and dial at the same time to see if it would respond at all and nada. [link] [comments]
AutoSleep: Lost all history since updating to watch os 8 / ios 15 / autosleep 6.7 Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:30 AM PDT As above, since updating my watch / phone and the autosleep app I can no longer see my full history in AutoSleep. I went through the recommended steps on their help page and have got to the point where I can force the data through by long pressing on a day in the history, which brings through the data and then clicking edit, which seems to save it. So the data is there and has permission to come through to AutoSleep. Is there any way to force it through to show and rebuild my history as I've lost all my stats. While troubleshooting I rebuilt my history in Heartwatch and that all came through fine but there doesn't seem to be a similar button on AutoSleep to rebuild history. [link] [comments]
Apple Watch series 6 activation lock stuck? Posted: 29 Sep 2021 10:58 PM PDT I sold my Apple Watch series 6 and the buyer messaged me saying the activation lock needs to be removed. I went and removed the watch from iCloud. I also removed the watch from "Find my iPhone." The buyer still can't get pass through the Activation lock. Any help? [link] [comments]
Unable to make room on s6 Watch Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:20 AM PDT Edit: watch is a series 3. I've update my phone to iOS15 and need to update my watch, but the update keeps failing because there's not enough space on my watch. When I go to the watch app from my phone it won't allow me to gat past the "all watches" screen so that I can delete some stuff. I've done a hard rest on both the watch and phone. Anyone know how to resolve this issue? Hoping I don't have to restore my watch to factory settings. [link] [comments] |
