| Build a better mousetrap; An overly complicated list of Factorio-likes Posted: 22 Aug 2021 04:05 PM PDT A ubiquitous question I see in my exploration for content is " Are there any games like Factorio? and the short answer is frustratingly, "not really." And of course the immediate long answer should and always be Mindustry, a powerfully complex game that branches out into several different genre engines and play styles; a little tower defense, a little base building and resource extraction and a lot of conveyer belts. Well as I went hunting I started to get the idea that while I probably won't be able to replicate a complicated automated factory like game, if I started thinking about this out side of the box, perhaps there were a few games and their ilk that might scratch that itch in a Satisfactory (heh, get it?) way? The thigh bone's connected to the hip bone I've included a few different kinds of games, all of which I felt were basically about the organization of complicated systems. And like a Rube Goldberg machine, so named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, which is a chain reaction-type system intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way. Usually, these machines consist of a series of simple unrelated devices; the action of each triggers the initiation of the next, eventually resulting in achieving a stated goal. And so one concept led into another and I expanded my search parameters… Factory, Automation and Logistics, with a little Programming and Traffic management thrown in for fun. | Sound overloading in Defender Chronicles Posted: 22 Aug 2021 03:30 PM PDT I recently acquired an iPhone 5 running ios 10.3.4, which I believe is still valid for 32 bit games, but when theres a lot of sound effects at once, the sound crackles and cuts out until the amount of sound effects attempting to be processed decreases. It's not an issue with my speaker since the issue occurs with headphones too. Do I need to downgrade the ios version, or is the phone I got just busted? [link] [comments]  |
