| Posted: 05 Aug 2021 12:03 AM PDT Hi, I have been lurking here for quite sometimes and finally pull the trigger and got the 2021 AppleTV 4k! Everything is so fast and seamless!! I just love it! It has a better sound when I plug it into my soundbar, comparing to the TV built in streaming apps. I do have one question, I do not own iPhone X or newer to do screen calibration. | Posted: 04 Aug 2021 10:19 PM PDT I got a new 2021 AppleTV and I just realized a feature that just made me love the new remote even more. It can control my TV and AVR while the AppleTV itself is off. I'm not sure if it's a feature of the new remote or Apple TV itself, but I know for my 1st gen 4K, I'd have to turn on the AppleTV to control my AVR/TV. I leave it to sleep after an hr and if I'm playing my PS5, I use the remote to control the volume so this is a pretty useful feature! [link] [comments]  | ||
| Browsing Synology NAS DSM 7 from Apple TV Posted: 05 Aug 2021 04:08 AM PDT If anyone like me is having problems having updated to DSM 7 on Synology, since they deprecated the DS Photos app I'm just sharing this app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fe-file-explorer-tv/id1065433468 Search for File Explorer on the Apple TV App Store. It connected to my NAS in seconds and I'm now able to browse and show photos as well as my home videos. It isn't feature packed. Its essentially a file browser with built in media viewer but it works very well. Note that if you want to browse the shared Photos library, you need to give the user you log in as, read access to the /photo folder on the Synology NAS Just wanted to share as I've seen other threads complaining about this (note I have no affiliation with the app, I was just disappointed because I used DS Photo to watch home videos of kids activities, and hadn't realised it wouldn't work once my NAS upgraded to DSM 7) [link] [comments]  | ||
| Judder at 24 fps in Dolby Vision Posted: 05 Aug 2021 04:03 AM PDT Ever since the tvOS 14.5 update, I have not been able to use the "match frame rate setting," due to judder (stutter?) when watching movies at 24 fps in Dolby Vision. I am watching on a Vizio M65Q7-H1 TV with a spigen 8K 2.2 HDMI cable. It displays 24 fps just fine in HDR and SDR, but the image is noticeably jittery in Dolby Vision. I can replicate the issue when I set the video mode manually to 4K Dolby Vision at 24 fps in both the integer and fractional frame rates. Anyone else experiencing this? Image looks fine when I set it to 60 fps and turn off "match frame rate." [link] [comments]  | ||
| “Use With Ask Siri” (Search Third Party Apps) Posted: 04 Aug 2021 09:42 PM PDT So, I recently upgraded my Apple TV to the newest release to accommodate 4K. I am enjoying everything including the new remote. But it appears I can no longer use Siri to search within third party apps, like YouTube and Netflix. With my older version, I could navigate to the "search" windows of either application and use Siri to talk. Now, Siri doesn't seem to engage internally. When I visit Settings > General > Use with Ask Siri, the text reads "Allow apps to access Siri and they will appear here." I can't seem to find how to allow apps to integrate. | Will Apple ever fix the bundle bug on Apple tv? Posted: 04 Aug 2021 07:39 PM PDT I've tried to get this fixed for well over a year and have never been able to. Has anyone else ever noticed when you buy a bundle of a tv series on the apple store (like Star Trek Discovery S1+2), when a new season comes out and they stop selling the older bundle, people who bought it can no longer watch their shows from Watch Now or when they search for the show. Now when I try to watch my previously purchased content, it tells me I do not own it, and suggests I subscribe to Paramount Plus. This has happened to several bundles I've bought and it is frustrating. I can't be the only person to have noticed this. Does anyone think Apple will ever fix this? Even completed shows like 30 Rock aren't safe from this happening, as this happened to my 30 rock complete set. This really makes me rethink buying shows on my apple tv. [link] [comments]  | ||

| This thing is driving me crazy Posted: 04 Aug 2021 06:51 PM PDT I got a 2021 Apple TV 4k and it refuses to turn off. When I hold the power button it shuts off and turns off the TV then 5 minutes later it turns back on. If I just turn the tv on and leave it on...the tv turns back on. I disabled HMDI-CEC on the TV and that made it so I can't turn it on with the Apple TV but it stays off....but it makes it so my ARC connected speakers don't work. Is there ANY solution besides unplugging the Apple TV between uses????? I really love the device but this is kind of a game breaker. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 04 Aug 2021 04:44 PM PDT Hey so I have a quick question that I can't seem to find online, not for sure at least. I just bought an Apple TV 4K, and it's usable with my current TV. I have a Panasonic TC-L32C3 TV and it FORCES overscan on the Apple TV no matter what. All options are grayed out so it can't ge fixed. So everything is zoomed in quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone uses the Apple TV 4K no problem with this TV. No overscan/underscan issues? It's quite expensive where I live and don't want to deal with returns as I can't drive, so moving around a huge TV would be hard. I'm looking at getting the 50 inch model if that matters. The Apple TV remote however controls both the TV volume and the sound as volume which is bad, is there a way to make the Apple TV remote control only the sound bar volume? [link] [comments]  | ||

To this monitor I added a JBL speaker (this combination always worked great with Chromecast). Looks great at first sight and seems to work as it should. Until I tried the volume control. I am able to turn on and off the monitor using the Apple remote, but I can't use the volume up/down and mute buttons. Though the ATV shows they register. Once I connected the speaker via bluetooth instead the volume controls started to work. But so did the audio lag. Am I doing something wrong, is this audio/monitor/ATV combination just not possible or is it a bug? (I have downloaded the latest TvOS update.) [link] [comments]  | ||

I have no issue getting audio for the built in tv apps over arc with the HomePod OG stereo pair. Does arc audio from Apple TV 4K (2021) via Homepod OG pair not play nicely with Blu-ray players? My original issue was that my Vizio sound bar sucks at dialogue, I constantly have to toggle tru volume off and on anytime I switch what I'm watching to try and level the sound, as well as constantly adjusting volume for explosions vs dialogue. So far my experience with the minis is subpar even compared to my finicky sound bar. The bass is lacking which I'm fine with, but the dialogue is still subpar. I believe if I was able to use to minis and my tv speaker at the same time I'd get the experience I'm looking for (boosted dialogue). But I can't find a way to play from both. Is this a feature for the regular homepods? And is this a feature that is coming with tvOS 15 when I can set the minis to be the default? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 04 Aug 2021 05:36 AM PDT It's really nice that when I turn on or off the Apple TV (latest model) it turns my TV on or off. For the a while this was also the case when the screensaver shut down the Apple TV. In the past it would also shut down my TV in that case. However recently that stopped working. I have an LG CX. It still works when I manually turn off the Apple TV with the power button on the remote, but when it shuts itself off the TV remains on now. Has anyone else seen this recent change? | [Discussion] Will Apple ever add none original content? Posted: 04 Aug 2021 10:16 AM PDT I'm not saying they need to. $5 a month is a steal for the quality of shows they have with no ads. But I imagine there's a fair amount of people that just don't see a reason to check out Apple TV+ content, even with a free trial, when there's already so many other things to watch. At least for other streaming subscriptions like Discovery+ and Paramount+ that just came online, they have content a lot of people already know and love, giving them an advantage to get people to subscribe and start surfing their way in to other shows they have. In other words, imagine if Apple TV+ had acquired exclusive rights to The Office or Friends. It would be an obvious power move to gain subscribers, no matter who bought those shows, but it would also bring in a lot of new eyes that then start watching all the original shows. I'm guessing Apple feels they can go it alone with original content and do just fine. Ted Lasso is taking off. And for them to try that power move of bringing in those big name shows everyone loves to binge watch, I guess they'd need to bring in at least a few of them. People would probably hate on Apple if they bought exclusive rights to The Office and then put it behind "another subscription" to pay, not feeling confident that theres anything else on the service they'd want to watch. But overall, it'd probably help bring in more viewers and keep these originals going in to double digit seasons. [link] [comments]  |
