Im not sure though if I should get the current M1 or wait the extra few months for the M2. (Help) Buying a M1 16gb Air or M1 8gb Pro?? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 11:43 PM PDT I'm an engineering major whose also a beginner in music production. From what I've seen the M1 versions of the air and pro aren't that different in terms of speed/performance. I'm trying to decide on whether or not I need to invest in a 16gb M1 air for more RAM instead of buying the 8gb M1 pro or even investing in a M1 pro 16gb for an extra $200. I'm more than likely going to upgrade to a new MacBook in the next 2/3 years. Which max would best fit for my situation??? Any suggestions are appreciated! Which has better value: The Macbook Air or the Macbook Pro Posted: 26 Jul 2021 08:55 AM PDT (Obviously the Pro has better performance, battery, thermals, etc but it also costs a good bit more.) If you could choose between the current Macbook Air M1 and the Macbook Pro M1, which would you pick? I have been a windows/android user forever, and I always thought about most apple devices as overpriced for what others devices do. Recently I opened up and starting learning about apple and what they provide in terms of their software and their capability. Until M1 is out, that completely got my whole attention. And now my question, if any been in the same boat, is it worth it to get Macbook specifically the base air m1 model, as my only laptop for university and content creation (video and photos) plus some web based apps? and what are the main features I will lose out? Can 100C temp damage laptop? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 03:32 AM PDT Hello. My MBA M1 usually runs around 60-70C while working - having opened lots of chrome tabs, skype, Linux VM, Visual Code etc. I think thats normal temps. Sometimes it falls to 40C. But I decided to open this site: https://platform.leolabs.space/visualization Its 3D visualisation of satellites but I didnt notice that CPU temps instantly rise to almost 105C and the tab was open for 10-15 minutes max. Macbook Pro Issue. Need Help Posted: 26 Jul 2021 07:59 AM PDT Last night I was working on microsoft word document and I was listening to a youtube video, when it started skipping. I shut it off and turned it back on, but my word document says I can only read my documents and not edit them. I try to use Office 365, but it says my college account that I use (graduated last year) can only view it, but no editing. I tried using another account, but it still won't let me edit. There is also a pop up that appears, but there is no text, just the x button. So when I press the x, the box appears again a little bit later. Any tips on screen film for damaged screens? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 07:14 AM PDT Hey everyone, well, I messed up. When I bought my MacBook (2016 15"), I didn't purchase any screen protective film / glass for it. With the time, the keyboard (and the sharp corners of its keys — ouch!) has damaged the screen surface. Now I know that there is no way of repairing it other than a screen replacement, but I want to mitigate the future possible damage and (possibly) hide the existent one. Are there any products that help? MacBook Air M1 2020 - WiFi Connectivity Issues Posted: 26 Jul 2021 05:32 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've been having the strangest issues when it comes to connecting my wifi. I'm able to connect to the network itself, however, I'm not getting the speeds of our network. All other devices connected to the WiFi works perfectly. Here's the strange part, some parts of the day I'm getting the speeds while in the morning I'm getting no connectivity at all despite being connected to the network. I have tried everything, checked forums, changed DNS settings, renewed DHCP licences, removed and readded the network, reset to default settings etc etc. I've logged in as a guest and the internet works as intended too. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and if you've found a fix? I've zero idea why this is happening and how it even started to begin with.
