| Posted: 31 Jul 2021 08:54 PM PDT Help needed to locate very old stolen ipod. Gifted to a relative around 2004 or 2005, engraved gift to recipient. Not tech savvy and has been so long owner has forgotten about it or given up but it would be nice to at least try to find it. Have purchase receipt, serial number etc. on original paperwork. Would it be best to call Apple and see if it can be located when downloading/sending if it is still in use? Is there anything that could be done to reset? Owner probably has forgotten all password information by now so tracking through original purchase is probably the only way. Suggestions? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 31 Jul 2021 06:20 PM PDT I am getting a "Service recommended" message for my mid 2016 Macbook Pro. The cycle count is 1050. Is there any imminent dangers to using it with this battery and if I wanted to get the battery replaced would the most sensical and cost effective thing to do would be to take it into an apple store? Would I need to back up my data first before taking it in? Or do they not actually login to access the laptop itself? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 31 Jul 2021 08:26 PM PDT Ever since I reset my settings (not entire phone just settings) I've had an issue with my notifications. Before I reset the settings, when I clicked on a notification banner it would automatically go into it. However after I reset my settings it just slides to the right, and then gives me a prompt to open the notification. Is there a setting which I can change to revert it back to my liking? Since the resolution is higher than my previous laptop I was expecting text to look tiny on that 13 inch screen. I tinkered around some forums and someone suggested using command + shift +4 shortcut when the cursor is at the bottom right corner to find out the resolution. After doing this I am seeing 1400 *900 instead of the default 2560 *1600. Is it running at full resolution or is there some kind of downsampling going on? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 31 Jul 2021 07:42 PM PDT I just switched over from winders to a MacBook and the contacts from my iphone did not immediately transfer over. When I looked further it was because my iCloud hasn't been backed up so my contacts weren't there. Now I can't do a backup because I'm using the basic version of iCloud with only 5 gb and I have 6 gb of stuff that has to be backed up. Is there a way where I can upload only contacts to my iCloud or would I have to manually renter all my contacts into my computer? Edit: I have less than 150 contacts so I should be able to transfer just that straight to my iCloud without it taking up too much storage. [link] [comments]  |

It had one of those fake iOS popup bubbles that said something along the lines of "Click here to finishes installing your free VPN". I know these are just scare tactics to make you install their software and I know that my device (iPad) is likely not compromised, but I just wanted to know if it was possible for MDM profiles to be installed without the users permission. I ask this because I saw some screenshots of similar cases where the scammers had advertised free VPNs in the form of an installable MDM profile, which I know is a big NO NO. So I guess my main question is, "does anyone know how installing MDM profiles works and is it possible for one to be installed without my consent?" [link] [comments]  |

My iPhone's storage situation is pictured here: https://imgur.com/a/HIyICMi As you can see, over half of my iPhone's local storage is being taken up by "iCloud Drive" , specifically "Documents & Data" (35.04 GB). Why are files stored primarily in iCloud taking up so much storage on my iPhone? Can't I clear whatever documents were downloaded locally, since the files should continue to exist on my iCloud Drive? | Cannot see typing indicator on FB messenger -group chats Posted: 31 Jul 2021 06:55 PM PDT As the title says, I cannot see a typing indicator in group chats. I have an iPhone 12 Pro (surely the phone wouldn't make a difference). All my friends can see my typing indicator but I can't see theirs. The only time I can see a typing indicator is when I am messaging one on one. I'm not sure if it is a phone problem or a FB messenger problem. Any help would be great. Thanks [link] [comments]  |
