Apple Wanted Normalcy by September. Covid Had Other Plans

I’ve made an app that only shows good news. I call it Good News 4 U.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:29 AM PDT

A few months ago I was looking for an app that can show me only happy / not depressing news. I found a few, but all of them require expensive subscriptions.

So I've decided to make a Free App that hopefully will help people smile and restore hope in humanity.

Also, this project is my sandbox to explore Apple SDKs I don't usually have the opportunity to try at work, like Widgets that I will soon be releasing in v1.1

All feedback and suggestions are more than welcome. I hope you enjoy it.

PSA there is no way for Siri to search through your personal music exclusively.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:03 AM PDT

I was searching for an answer to this for a while, how to get Siri to only search through "My Music" when I request a song. I found MANY different thoughts and solutions about this online from explaining how to fix it to people even claiming they fixed it! I wanted to make this post to say that after a talk with apple support it is impossible.

The only things you can request from Siri when it comes to Music is an app, artist, album, song, or playlist. There are no other search query's and you Siri cannot use multiple at a time aside from in combination with a specific app. Anybody thinking that they can do this are mistaking Siri's built in known requests with what Siri has learned from them.

I wanted to share this because again there were many different answers online with a common one being "reset your entire phone" they are all false and only speaking from there personal experiences as to how they were able to get Siri to learn about them. I hope this post can cut down on misinformation.

New update for my scientific and engineering calculator

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 04:38 AM PDT

I've just released an update to TechniCalc - my scientific calculator app.

The new date mode lets you calculate the years, months, weeks, and days between two given dates. You can also do the same in reverse - finding a date a given distance away from another.

The unit converter now supports composite units - like meters to feet and inches, or vice versa.

The memory screen has been merged into the constants screen. You can now see all your custom constants and physical constants in one place.

You can now see the count, median, upper, and lower quartiles in the statistics mode.

Programmer mode now supports left and right bit shifts.

When you press and hold on the constants button in the keyboard, you'll see a popover showing your most recently used constants - making it super fast to insert them. The same thing also happens for the variables button.

Decimal separators and digit grouping will now format according to your device's locale.

New (and very late) Easter-themed app icon.

TechniCalc is every bit functional as it is beautiful.

The modern interface that makes a clean break from traditional pocket calculators. Equations are entered in a natural way, adhering to every detail of hand-written maths.

The advanced maths engine also makes this the only calculator you'll ever need.

You'll find your garden variety logs, sins, and cosines — but for when you need it, the engine has full support for imaginary numbers, vectors, matrices, sums and products, and differentiation and integration.
