Just a ramble. I love Apple so freaking much. Posted: 04 Jul 2021 10:37 PM PDT I don't have anyone in my life right now I can geek out to and it's kinda making me sad. I miss having my parents around so much :(. Whether they were truly interested or not...they always showed some level of interest in the hobbies and whatnot I'd jump into. I always had them to brag to, to show off to, and just to talk to. I miss that. Over the last year I've slowly been diving deep into the Apple Ecosystem and I freaking love it. First with an iPhone SE (upgrading from an ancient iPhone 5 haha), then a M1 Macbook Pro (16gb ram/512gb HDD), last month with an Apple Watch Series 6, and I'm eagerly waiting to receive a pair of Air Pod Max (Maxs? Maxes? What's the right way of saying this?? lmao) I legitimately feel like a kid every single day...full of wonder and excitement. Day after day I'm amazed. I've never experienced a computer as powerful as my M1. It's insane! I purchased a Macbook Pro many years ago...and in the end I was pretty disapointed in it. It only had 4gb of ram and I'm not sure why I never upgraded it...but it often lagged and would become incredibly bogged down if I had too many web tabs open or tried running several programs at the same time. The M1 just continues to blow my mind! Just earlier today I had something like 20 tabs open I was needing to bounce back and forth between...no slow down at all! I'm not a gamer, but that hasn't stopped me from purchasing some games...just because this beast can run them so well! I recently purchased a racing game called Dirt 4...and just to see what would happen (and I wasn't expecting much)...I put the graphics setting at ultra where everything was turned on and maxed out. The game ran freaking perfect! I was so incredibly pleased haha! I've only had my Apple Watch for about a month now. I had no plans at all to use it for fitness. 3 weeks later with it and I'm down 20 pounds. I'm taking multiple walks a day and I've been spending at least 30 minutes doing guided mindfulness because of the watch. And my phone...holy hell! I went with Product Red and I can't believe how beautiful it is! People complain about the battery, but coming from an iPhone 5 the battery on this thing is actually a significant upgrade for me! I'm addicted ot a game called Genshin Impact that I'm able to run on the phone at full graphics and it blows me away at how insane gaming has come on phones...damn near full console experiences! Holy smokes!! There was no way I'd ever spend over $150 on a pair of headphones. I've had a couple of pairs at the $100-$129 range, and have been pretty impressed with them. I couldn't even begin to imagine spending over $150. Fast-forward to 2 days ago when I dropped $500 on a pair of headphones >.<' lmao. These will be my first noise canceling headphones...as well as my first Bluetooth pair. I'm trying to not get too hyped about them as I don't want them to disappoint me. I don't want to expect them to be life changing...just to find out they're not all that much better sounding then my current $70 cans. But I've heard lots of good things about them...and I'm just excited to further immerse myself in my dreamworld of Apple products. I try to take dam good care of my M1...I am SO in love with it. I clean it daily and do my best to keep dirt from accumulating under the keys (lol dust glows white with the way the keys are lit and it drives me nuts!). I decided to buy a small electric air blower. It worked amazing at blowing out the dust! I was super happy! Then I noticed a speck of dust on my screen. I tried to brush it off. It wouldn't budge. I restarted my computer. It was still there. Upon further inspection there were actually several specks of dust under the glass. Knowing full well it was my fault I had little hope Apple would help me out here. I started up a chat with them just to see what kinds of options I had. I was expecting to pay a ton to get my screen cleaned or replaced. The guy sent me out a box with a prepaid return label. Told me to ship it off to them to see what they could do (I have no Apple stores nearby). My left shift key was also very slightly stiffer then all my other keys so I asked if he could note that and see if I could get that cleaned or fixed as well. I shipped my Macbook off to Apple on Wednesday. The next morning I got a text letting me know Apple Received it. That evening I got another text letting me know my Macbook had been repaired and was shipped back to me. The next afternoon I got my Macbook back. I could NOT believe it! I was expecting to go at least a week without my baby! They replaced my screen, put in an entirely new keyboard, dropped in a brand new battery and replaced the top case (the case that surrounds the keyboard). All covered with the warranty! I can not express how incredibly fortunate I feel after this. What a magical experience. I loved Apple before...but now? Bloody hell! I'm sorry for the ramble...I know I'm an idiot for thinking anyone would want to read a novel length post. [link] [comments]

I'm building an awesome, beautiful, & free calculator app: Omega Calculator. Feedback appreciated! Posted: 04 Jul 2021 07:10 AM PDT Let's face it, pretty much every calculator app on the App Store reels you in with a somewhat-nice-looking design, you download it, and then you get spammed with ads every time you make a calculation. I built this calculator to be different. It's beautiful (imho), free, and has no ads. No tricks or annoying pop ups every time you're trying to make a calculation. It's been described as "the VERY BEST calculator I have EVER used." Omega Calculator is an intuitive and powerful calculator that can be used for any mathematical computation you need to perform. The calculator includes basic operations, exponents, roots, fractions, logarithms, trig functions, probability, and much more. With Omega's innovative approach to input complex expressions, performing a multitude of tasks is easily possible. You can view and save your past calculations for future use, as well as customize your experience with display settings and over 30 color themes to choose from. Get started with Omega for free today!
The app also includes in-app purchases, which are purely cosmetic. The calculator functionality is 100% free. Additional color themes beyond the default 8 can be purchased which are applied app-wide. I'm continuously refining and updating Omega. And I'm planning to add a graphing calculator soon too. If you have a chance, and you want a better calculator for your device, please check it out :) As I said, I value user feedback so much and I would love to hear any comments you would like to provide!! Probably iOS' biggest missing feature? Posted: 04 Jul 2021 08:32 AM PDT All the images received on an iPhone are compiled in one folder. Since I use my phone for both work and personal life, everything shows up together. When trying to browse through work images I receive through WhatsApp / Slack, I often end up scrolling through my family images in front of my colleagues. It restricts me from using the phone freely. Dedicated image folders for all apps will really help. Slack images & videos in a folder called Slack in the Photos app. WhatsApp folder for all WhatsApp media. All camera photos in the camera folder. Am I the only one who's felt the need for this? For how much emphasis Apple puts on online privacy, I think in-person privacy is something they struggle with. Thoughts? (P.S. Lack of app locks is another, but that's not a huge deal.) [link] [comments]
I developed Pile, a beautiful bookmarks/content organiser tool for iPhone Posted: 04 Jul 2021 02:55 AM PDT Hello r/apple! My name is Aram, I'm an apple indie dev and I'm doing some self-promotion of my newest app Pile: Bookmarks reimagined. Please give it a chance :) Pile website (find more details, videos, contact...) What's Pile: Pile is the place on your iPhone you can keep your things. Pile allows you to organise notes, photos, links, or any files like PDFs or MP3 easily with drag and drop. You can search and view your content even when offline and collaborate on your own folders or notes with your friends. All this, for free, packaged in a beautiful slick User Interface and Privacy First approach. Keep your things as a big list or create folders and curated lists of your best stuff, in any case you will be able to find it later! Why Pile: We all have those piles at home of clothes, papers, etc. And they usually are very personal, only you know what's in there and how to find anything in them. So why not doing the same in your phone too? Three main points: - Beautiful: We've built it to be pleasant to the eye. But not only beautiful, also really easy to use and simple. - Private & Secure: Privacy is in our core values, so we can't even access your data. Yet it's synchronised with your iCloud so you never loose it! - Collaborative: Build those lists or write notes and texts together with other people. Future for Pile: We are developing an iPad version. It's gonna be really, really beautiful. I have to hold myself from sharing the designs 😅. We're also about to release a Safari Extension for MacOS, so it's super easy to add links into Pile. All them will synchronise hassle-free between the devices. My Story: I'm Aram, from Barcelona, Catalonia. I've been a mobile developer for almost 10 years now, I've worked in a few big companies (such as the biggest european airline) and some startups. I've always worked in user-first apps because I get satisfaction from building well crafted apps, with attractive UI, and the fact that at the end users choose to use the app (it's not forced by the business). But mainly, I've always wanted to become an indie developer... And this is my chance! If you wanna help me I would love to hear your feedback (good or bad). From the app there's a way to give feedback, through pile's website, replying here or sending me a private message. I promise I read & answer everything!! Good reviews on the Apple Store help me immensely if you liked the app. They make my app appear first in Search, so other users find the app easier. I don't have money for marketing, so it's vital for me. If you have an iPad that runs iOS 14, send me a PM and I will make you a beta tester for the iPad version :) Thank you very much and I truly hope you end up using Pile just because it's a well made app :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:35 AM PDT Hello r/apple! My name is Sergey, I'm an apple indie dev. I have made many applications and often my clients have asked if they have the capabilities that ActiveDock provides on the Apple Dock. I decided to implement DockView. Perhaps you will find this little utility useful. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jul 2021 04:23 AM PDT Hey! For the last almost four years, I've been developing a writing productivity app called WriteMapper, which aims to help you turn ideas into text documents using mind maps. I designed it to be simple and approachable, yet comprehensive and feature-rich. In brief, it'll help you:
Website / Intro trailer: https://writemapper.com/ Download link: https://writemapper.com/download I've been adding features, improvements and refinements to the app over the past 3+ years since originally launching the first Mac app, which I posted a few years back here on r/Apple (that received a response I'm still to this day really grateful to this community for). I recently launched a big update to the app, WriteMapper 3, which was well-received over at r/macapps. The version 3 update contains a bunch of new features and improvements, including support for M1 / Apple Silicon Macs! So, who is WriteMapper for, who uses this? Well, it's best used for any sort of longer-form writing that requires some structuring to help make better sense of. Some applications I've come to hear about from users of the app include:
Beyond that, I definitely also want to port this over to iPadOS some time in the future, like I previously did with the older version 2 of the app. However, from my experience it is rather involved work and will require a non-trivial amount of time for me to develop to make that happen, so you'll have to stay tuned for that for now. During the past years I've been working on WriteMapper, quite a fair few people have sent me messages of thanks, telling me how effective the app has been for their writing productivity and workflow, so if there's some writing work you can use this app for, I'd really love for you to also come check out the Mac app! It comes with a 7-day fully-featured free trial; for continued use, it's a one-time payment (not a subscription) of $49.95, and you can get 20% off and up here with code "RAPPLE" if you buy within the next 14 days. Lastly, as always, your feedback about the app would be monumental, as it's what helps guide me in deciding what to include in updates and make the app experience better for you. Thank you! :) [link] [comments]
Personalized productivity Calendar App Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:41 AM PDT Launched a Personalized Productivity Calendar App Tl;dr- I have recently released a calendar app for individuals who seek to make the most out of their time, or just simply become a better version of themselves. Considering the low quality of time management apps for individuals(not companies) on the app store, I wanted to build a tool for people and myself to use and make their day more productive. You can download it on the App Store. --- --- Hello, there r/apple! I am a 20-year-old developer who is currently studying at university(CS of course) and would like to share my invention that I strongly encourage students and people who want to make the best out of their time to use. The idea started when my workload began to pile up in and outside of high school, and I could not really procrastinate, because I would not be able to do everything in one day like I used to. Therefore, since I was currently reading some biographies of people such as Benjamin Franklin and Elon Musk, which were very keen on the idea of how planning their time increased their overall productivity, I gave it a shot. Planning my time on paper was fine, but the action itself took away from what it was supposed to make faster. I had to write down repetitive activities(such as lessons) every day and I would often be late to switching tasks, as I was not reminded when something was starting/ending and I did not keep track of time. Therefore I decided to give some Calendar apps a try. My experience was pretty bad, their design was suboptimal and it took me way too long to plan my day compared to planning it on paper. Additionally, I thought there will be a lot of advantages, such as detailed statistics of how I spend my time or some recommendations to what I should spend my time on(regarding my previous planned days). Therefore as a consumer, I tried to solve all of the issues and create the ideal time planner for pretty much anyone, so I created Calendar Buddy. It has an intuitive and nice design(although now only in dark mode as the dark mode is correlated with productivity - light will be coming soon), a fast way to plan your time(probably as fast as on paper) and also very detailed statistics(compared to other calendar apps). What else would you want? I think this app can be useful for anyone whether it is that you do not want to forget about your meetings or make the best out of your time, planning with Calendar Buddy is a good way to not be BUSY but PRODUCTIVE - As often people confuse the two. I hope it can help you in some way to become a better you, Have a great day, and do not hesitate to ask anything! Martin [link] [comments]
I have developed camera app with cool effects Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:57 AM PDT Hello everyone, I have developed camera app with realtime effects that are based on movement detection and people silhouette detection. With a combination of ARKit person segmentation, optical flow algorithm and metal shaders I implemented a dozen of interesting effects that help to make unique video content. The app also can apply effects to already recorded videos from camera roll. Here you can see a video-demo how one of effects works https://www.reddit.com/r/swift/comments/k4mc9i/when_you_mix_swift_and_metal/ And the link to AppStore (it also has video preview): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reflex-camera-and-video-maker/id1456159174 15 promo codes for 1 year free subscription, enjoy!
UPD: Sorry if some codes were expired, I just updated all of them, should be good now. [link] [comments] |
