What is left for the iPad Pro (hardware-wise) to improve on?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:20 PM PDT

I was considering whether I should wait for the next iPad Pro or buy it now and then I realized, what's even left to improve outside of iPadOS?

What do you guys think? All I can really think of is a slightly better processor, OLED screen, and waterproofing. Is there even any reason to wait for the next model at this point?

PSA: Widespread sound quality issue that affect Apple Music only on Apple audio hardware since 14.6 (confirmed to me by Apple Support)

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:06 AM PDT

First of all, excuse my English.

    Let me explain.

Recently I´ve been noticing a sound quality deterioration on my Homepods (both OG and Mini) when playing music. Lower maximum volume, and distant/veiled background elements in the mix. It also affects video content from Netflix and such when I link them with an Apple TV.

But thanks to the suggestion of a fellow redditor here, I tried to Airplay the same music from youtube Music and to my suprise, the homepods sounded great. Louder, fuller, detailed.

Tried my Senheisser´s HD 599 with my Ipad/Iphone... and the same music (Atmos OFF, lossless ON) sounded great in Apple Music. Tried my Airpods... and the music sounded much lower, muddy and distant again.

Mmm... this morning i finally called apple about it. To my surprise, they acknowledged the issue right away and said that they are working on it. In happens in all Apple Music content, but only when played trough Apple audio hardware. I don´t know if its a sound processing issue or what. Very strange.

Anyone suffering lately from the same or similar issues?. If so, please consider leaving Apple detailed feedback about it here:

Is anyone doing anything useful with the Back Tap accessibility setting?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:30 AM PDT

There seemed to be a lot of interest for it in last year's beta cycle but it doesn't seem like it's been talked about much since.

Best I've come up with is tapping a couple of times to start a new entry in Drafts.

    Anyone else still using it?

    M1 Macs Update Speed

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:35 PM PDT

Does anyone feel like the M1 Macs are slower to update (OS patches). Hard to a direct comparison for me as the latest Intel chip I have is the 2012 Mac mini (which is retired in a box now).

I also work in the IT field and scheduling updates is now frustrating a lot of Apple users on new M1 hardware as they report 30+ min updates.

What will Matter do for existing smart home devices?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 01:31 AM PDT

I switched from android to iPhone this past year so I still have a lot of android based smart home equipment, so I still need to use the google home app on my phone. Nest mini, google home mini, chrome cast, and some smart outlets.

How exactly will Matter help to unify google home based devices with my apple ecosystem (MacBook, iPad, iPhone, watch, AirPods) and would the speakers and chrome cast I already have also be supported?
