Note-taking recommendations needed! Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:54 AM PDT TL;DR: Macbook user considering a switch to iPad, primarily for note-taking functions for work. Hi there! I am a long-time MacBook user who gave their poor MacBook an accidental bath about a month and a half ago. It's still chugging along by some miracle, but it's definitely showing some issues. It's also about six years old at this point, so I feel okay about replacing it if I need to, and I'm thinking that I WILL need to sooner rather than later. I am thinking about replacing it with an iPad Air or Pro, so that I can use the Apple Pencil and note-taking features at work and use it as a laptop at home (I don't currently bring my laptop to work). I am a huge note-taker for work purposes (I like to put it as, "I think better with a pen in my hand") and the handwriting-to-text conversion appeals to me since it will make it easier for me to send notes to my clients. I'm an event planner, so being able to make sure I'm on the same page with the client is super important, and I like the idea of being able to quickly send them my notes at the end of a meeting, rather than having to go and type them up and maybe not get them sent over for a day or two. I went to the Apple store yesterday to mess around with an iPad and an Apple Pencil and to be honest...I didn't love it. But I didn't really have a chance to use something like Notability, which seems like the gold standard of note taking apps. I did use GoodNotes a little bit and liked it better than the Apple Notes app. I have a couple questions that I'd love to get your perspectives on:
Sorry for all the questions! I appreciate any and all answers :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jun 2021 03:03 PM PDT Does anyone know of a good MySQL app? I've looked through the App Store and they either require a subscription or they look pretty janky. I prefer a one time purchase as I only need it occasionally. [link] [comments]

Logitech Anyangle-equivalent case for 2021 ipads? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 03:05 AM PDT Hello, all. I'm a big fan of AnyAngle cases from Logitech (which they've rebranded in the past, hence my question today) but can't find the equivalent today. I used their AnyAngle hinge (which allows for free positioning of the stand) for an iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro 2018 (for the latter one, the stand and the keyboard cover were two separate parts, so the stand could be used standalone). Now it seems their 2021 models only have the combo touch as equivalent (anyangle hinge back cover and detachable keyboard front cover) but for iPad Pro 2021 I can only find the Logitech Folio, which has the keyboard attached. The anyangle stand is similar to a surface pro stand, and the keyboard+trackpad is nice if optional. Having the keyboard permanently attached is a bother, though. Do you know of any equivalent manufacturers or Logitech Back cover products that could provide the same functionality? To clarify: These are not fixed-positions stands. They can be placed in almost any position (so the iPad can lay on either side and even vertically). They're also very thin and lightweight. [link] [comments]
Apps for live annotation sharing? Posted: 29 Jun 2021 09:40 PM PDT Looking to do some remote tutoring. One of the biggest challenges has been sharing the material I write by hand (either on paper or iPad screen) with my students live in real-time. Are there any platforms where I can write directly on my iPad with Apple Pencil as I teach—and have my students remotely access a live stream of my annotations, with minimal lag? I know FaceTime is implementing screen share in iOS 15, but this is not quite what I'm looking for. [link] [comments] |
