Any recent model with replaceable battery and RAM? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 06:45 PM PDT I still use a 2011 MacBook and haven't upgraded because of those models that came after with soldered RAM and batteries. Very important things to me because the computer can improve so much. Has Apple changed this? what's the newest Macbook with replaceable battery and RAM? If not, what Windows PC got a comparable touchpad? 50% of the reason I use a Macbook is the touchpad. [link] [comments]

MacBook Pro 15 late 2008 Leopard Disk Posted: 27 Jun 2021 11:15 PM PDT Hi, so I just got a MacBook Pro 15 late 2008. But it's installed with El Capitan and so laggy, so I want to restore it to Leopard instead, just for the sake of nostalgia. However, I couldn't manage to find the restore disk anywhere on the Internet. One is at Macrepository but it asks me to donate, which I don't have the money for right now. Anyone here can help me with that? Thank you. [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Jun 2021 08:15 PM PDT Thinking of getting the M1 Macbook Air with 16GB RAM. I only plan to use it for browsing, casual coding, and the occasional word doc and excel spreadsheet. I don't plan on recording videos or saving huge files. Would 256GB suffice or should I shell out $200 more for 512GB? I will probs have chrome, VS code, MS office suite, and my run some virtual environments. [link] [comments]
Stupid question: How to drag and drop items MacBook Pro? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 06:00 PM PDT I just bought the M1 MacBook Pro. Ive always used PC. Anytime I want to drag and drop anything I just click, drag and drop. Simple. However whenever I try to do this on my MacBook it doesn't work. Whenever I try to drag and drop any files, folders etc. it just opens them instead and doesn't allow me to actually move them. Pretty annoying and I can't figure out why this is happening. Should I get a MacBook Pro (M1) or Air (M1) for university? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 11:43 AM PDT I'm looking to renovate my laptop before I start university, with normal use, should I go for a Pro or Air? It would be just for casual tasks and maybe some gaming (mostly civ6). What advantages does the MacBook Pro have that would make me prefer it over the Air? [link] [comments]

Best new(ish) OS for a well cared for Early 2016 rMB? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 12:09 PM PDT I am still running El Cap on this beauty. Working as a charm, however, most of the apps is starting to get deprecated, and I need to move on. I tried Mojave, drains my batt x2 than on El Cap. Anyone have experience with Catalina or other OS that doesn't kill the batt? I have taken extremely good care of my batt so I know it´s not it. It lasts A LOT on El Cap, and I am expecting at least a little bit the same on some ohter newer OS. Thanks a lot in advance for any advance, it´s much appreciated! [link] [comments]
How to set a switch for dual monitor setup? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 02:45 PM PDT Hi team, I got to MacBooks and I want to physically stack them on each other and connect both of them to a hub or switch to only click the switch without needing to reconnect the wires is there any solution? PSA - new M1 owners, first thing to do is upgrade to OSX 11.4, it fixed the ssd write issue. Posted: 27 Jun 2021 02:43 PM PDT first week of using, i was on 11.3.xL 1.3tb read/~300gb write.. after upgrading to 11.4, the read and writes barely moved... [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Jun 2021 01:22 PM PDT I am having problems with my M1 MBA latest version of Big Sur when closing the lid in hibernate mode. When I do so, my computer gets a error message when I open the screen lid up forcing me to re-enter my password. Apparently it seems to crash during hibernation mode. It would be nice to open the screen lid and use my finger print to get back into my laptop. So I went to the official Apple support and text chat them about this problem of mine. I wanted to know if this was a hardware defect or software bug that maybe be fixed in the next version of MacOS coming this fall. She said the M1 MBA wasn't designed to go into hibernate mode for long periods of time. If I wanted give my laptop a break longer than half a day or longer, I should shut it down. Hibernate mode is only for if you will be returning to you laptop in a brief time. So my question to this forum who seem to know a lot about MacBooks.....Is this true? If if am done for the day or two with my MBA, should I shut down the machine and the MacOS is design to do so? Or is she bending the truth so Apple don't have to replace my hardware if there is some kind of issue? I bought my device last spring and still under warranty and have Apple plus on this device. What is the advice from some of the people on this forum. Thank you very much in advance! [link] [comments]
Do MacBooks come with any other keyboard layout apart from English? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 01:05 PM PDT Title. I'm in Portugal currently on holiday staying with me parents and want to buy a brand new MacBook Air with M1 chip. However, I'm concerned that it will come with a Portuguese keyboard layout instead of English. [link] [comments]
Anyone else have this issue, and if so did you contact Apple? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 11:13 AM PDT So when I use the trackpad my cursor randomly stops on the screen as I still move my finger. It's like it gets stuck randomly. Just seeing if anyone has this issue and if anyone has contacted Apple and received a repair or replacement. I have the MacBook Air M1 [link] [comments]
MacBook Air 2017 terrible battery life Posted: 27 Jun 2021 10:46 AM PDT hi all, the cycle count is 205 and coconut battery says capacity is at 90% is there anything to be done aside from reinstalling? I've done that more than once and I use it lightly for writing and browsing. should I just replace the battery? thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jun 2021 10:43 AM PDT I was attempting to make space for a update and deleted something I shouldn't have. I am attempting to re-download the OS X El Capitan 10.11 to be able to fully log into the computer but do now have a spot to download to. The USB I connected does not have enough space. If I get a bigger USB should that do the trick? [link] [comments]
Just done something extremely dumb. Posted: 27 Jun 2021 12:44 AM PDT Had to disconnect the keyboard (at the Apple store) bc it was water damaged, so I was using the on-screen keyboard. I turned the brightness down via that but accidentally went all the way. Nowwww I can't turn the brightness up again. In fact I can't do anything. I thought closing it/plugged in my iPhone/unplugged/reconnecting the charger might trigger it, but nope! Any ideas?? [link] [comments]

Airplay with 2 monitor options? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 08:52 AM PDT I just got airplay setup and working beautifully with our Roku which is pretty sweet, but.... It occurs to me that it would be nice if it were possible to stream/mirror ONE of my MacBook displays to the TV while the other MacBook display remained usable to do work on while my kids watch whatever I'm streaming at the time. Maybe I could work on the built-in screen while my external monitor mirrors to the TV? Other way around perhaps? Something tells me this may be wishful thinking, but thought I would ask since it would definitely come in handy if it's possible. Thanks much in advance! (It's a brand new MacBook Air if it matters) [link] [comments] |
