Posted: 31 May 2021 10:36 AM PDT With only a week away from WWDC, we will soon get a new version of macOS that will possibly include a new location in CA as its name. Big Sur was a big upgrade, so I would guess it would be a "Tock" year with more minor updates with possibly a couple of bigger changes to keep up with the new version. However what do we think the name/location might be? In the past the Tock years have been around locations based on the year before. Yosemite -> El Capitan, Sierra -> High Sierra, but what about this year? Thoughts? [link] [comments]

Why don’t Apple make their own displays? Posted: 31 May 2021 09:35 AM PDT Hi Reddit, would love to know why Apple don't make their own displays for iPhones for example. They seem so keen on making everything in house and not rely on external manufacturers for innovation and cost purposes and I'm wondering what's stopping them? Just have a genuine interest in knowing, if anyone can help! Thanks [link] [comments]
Apple, please make a way to prioritize Contact Addresses!! Posted: 31 May 2021 09:36 AM PDT As the title says it's pretty clear, I have contacts with multiple address, and when I enter the most recent it goes to the bottom of the list on the contact card. This means when I'm typing in the contact name to have the GPS route me to that contact, it never pulls up the most recent address, it brings up the older address which can be annoying. If Apple made a way to prioritize addresses then you could set which address should pop up first in contact searches. What do y'all think? [link] [comments]
Would you buy an iPadOS 2-in-1? Posted: 31 May 2021 12:39 PM PDT I'm talking about a legitimate dock that fully turns your iPad into a laptop. Something like the surface laptop 2-in-1s, except being actually good tablets. Properly weighted. Additional ports, like more usb-c, sd card reader etc Extra battery that increases device longevity and keeps the iPad at the perfect charge level to prolong battery health. Backlit keys. And a magnetic dock similar to the current magic keyboard so I can easily remove it. I just recently got my first iPad and if I could turn it not just into "a" laptop, but a "good" laptop, (you know something I can actually use on my lap without it being too heavy and falling over) I would do it in a heart beat. I can almost do everything work related on it now super easily. I say almost because an actual laptop dock that isn't trying to also be a carrying case ain't working for me how it was dreamt up as. I would legitimately consider selling my new M1 MBP to someone that needs a more fully fleshed out operating system if I could get my hands on the above mentioned dock. I don't care if it's twice as thick as a MBP, the versatility it offers is more than worth it. Most people don't need all of macOS or windows I for computing, but they do need an actual clamshell computer that isn't just a fancy kickstand with a keyboard attached. Although tbh, I can see my wanting to get rid of an apple product as a reason as to why this accessory, no matter how expensive, may not be made. What do you think? [link] [comments]
any research or link for airplay delay technology? Posted: 31 May 2021 02:59 PM PDT I've always wondered why airplay differentiate, or distinct audio and video. If you could help me to understand this, I would be very appreciated. This post is not about 'help me, what should I do, or what should I buy' kind of support-me question. This post is about asking for a knowledge. In my knowledge, video takes much more data to transfer than the audio, causing the problems for anything like zero-latency, lagging, loading, etc. So it is understandable if video(screen) gets a lag because of its visual data. However, airplay works the other way. video(screen) works great, whereas audio takes serious delay. I really don't understand why it works the other way, and why it takes so much delay. When we talk about latency or delay in video(screen), we talk in milliseconds. Hitting a second is out of the topic for latency, or delay. Then is airplay a bad technology? No. If you look at the video part, you can't feel a delay. Airplay for video works great, which brings back to the first paragraph. Why is airplay differentiate the audio and the video? Please let me know If i'm getting something wrong or missed any. Huge thanks in advance to the people who explain this well or link to great explanation. [link] [comments]
Will there ever be a good reason to opt in to tracking? Posted: 30 May 2021 11:01 PM PDT So far i have been just denying all apps their requests for tracking but was thinking of just enabling the toggle in settings to block all tracking. Will there ever be a good reason for an app to track you? The best case i ran into so far was McDonalds asking for tracking to offer better deals but even then i dont really see how it needs it.
