Posted: 18 Jun 2021 02:20 AM PDT Hey all, As per the title - are they allowed to do this? I paid for a specific version of a calendar app which I've been using for a couple years. The creators have recently removed a basic function which allowed you to click on a URL from the notes section of an appointment. This is incredibly inconvenient for me as I used my calendar app and I particularly like this one. It seems that creators shouldn't be allowed to roll back a function if you've already paid for it? I know I could look for another app, but I'm also wondering a) if this is common (in your experience), and b) what the procedure would be through apple / the App Store for reporting what seems to be a violation of the basic terms of a contract for a paid product (I paid for a specific function which has now been removed unless I upgrade, which was not the initial agreement). Huge widespread network latency issues while nearby devices use Airdrop Posted: 17 Jun 2021 10:01 PM PDT I've been trying to find the root cause of this for days. It started off when I noticed stutters during a WebRTC video session, so I started an internal ping to my main router (note: I use Unifi with a UDM-Pro). Once in a while I'd see huge spikes in latency, like this: https://imgur.com/a/2nBOQGX It was extremely random, though I noticed that it wouldn't happen while I had bluetooth turned off which was extremely weird, since I was connected over a 5GHz network, so there shouldn't be any channel interference there. Anyway, after a couple days, I noticed it happen again when my friend airdropped something to his Mac from his phone, so I asked him to do it again and it actually happened when he just opened the share menu on his phone, not even needing to actually airdrop anything, so I assumed it must be something to do with the airdrop protocol over LAN, but nope! It even happened while he left the wifi network (disabled from control center). I've uploaded a short 10 second video of it happening in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQC1YR1NG_0 (same video but with wifi disabled on an iPhone 12 Pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRHtnVRmLB0) My test environment is using an M1 MacBook Pro, tested with an iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro (2020). After chatting with a few friends from around the world, they've managed to reproduce the issue on Intel Macs, and also getting the latency issues on the actual iOS devices too (tested with iPhone 7, 11, 12 Pro). You can try reproducing this by:
This is seriously the weirdest issue I've experienced - I originally thought it could be to do with the U1 chip, but iPhone 7/Intel Macs don't use the U1 chip so it can't be that. I'm confused as to why I can't find anything online about it. Would love to hear any ideas or reproducibility in different environments. [link] [comments] | ||
