Safari download queue from Google Drive. Posted: 08 May 2021 09:09 PM PDT Is there a way to queue downloads one after the other using Safari when downloading from Google Drive? Are there any apps that can do that? [link] [comments]
How well does finding keywords in PDF's with Spotlight work? Posted: 09 May 2021 02:05 AM PDT Hello, im thinking of buying a mac because I desperately search a good tool to find keywords in PDF's. I thought Spotlight search may do it but I don't have a mac to try it. When Spotlight searches PDF's, I know it can show the right PDF that contains the word. On screenshots I can see that it shows the preview next to it, but does it show the page within the PDF that contains the word? Can somebody upload a screenshot maybe? Thanks for your repiles. Posted: 08 May 2021 10:40 PM PDT I get really annoyed by that 2x screenshot sound that comes every time I take a screenshot (and I take a lot of screenshots on my Mac because of my study). Is it known if it will be fixed soon? [link] [comments]

Globe key triggered when using FN key Posted: 08 May 2021 09:39 PM PDT I switched the FN keys with the F1-12 keys so that the FN key needs to be pressed together with them to access the special functions. However, the globe key, which is on the same key as the FN key, now gets triggered every time I change sound, brightness etc. and opens the emoji window. Is there any way to have the globe key/emoji window only trigger when the key is pressed alone? [link] [comments]
Backup/Sync system settings and configurations? Posted: 08 May 2021 09:15 PM PDT As I'm setting up my new MacBook, is there any way to backup or sync those changes I make, so whenever I have to do a fresh install I can just restore those changes? I guess one way would be to create a full disk image. But is there something more lightweight such as a configuration file that I can save in the cloud? [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 May 2021 12:17 PM PDT Standardization/Compatibility - Most programs I need are compatible with MacOS. My devices and software work fluidly and smoothly with each other. Intuitive - I find MacOS to have a more intuitive interface and workflow compared to Windows, GNU/Linux, and other OSes. Privacy - I trust MacOS with my privacy more than other operating systems. Customization/Freedom - MacOS gives me the level of customization I want better than Windows, Linux, and other alternatives. Efficiency - MacOS runs more efficiently on my hardware than other operating systems, allowing me to make the most of my hardware. Forced - I'm forced to use MacOS, whether it be for my job, school, or because my hardware doesn't support other operating systems. [link] [comments]

Switch input source by keeping default keyboard layout Posted: 08 May 2021 05:52 PM PDT My 2020 M1 MacBook Pro has a french (AZERTY) keyboard. However, French isn't the only language I type in. I added English and Portuguese as input sources for spelling and auto-correct, but every time I switch input sources the keyboard layout changes to QWERTY. I'm wondering if there's a way for me to switch to other input sources by keeping AZERTY as the default layout. This is so easy to configure on a smartphone but so far very frustrating on Mac... How much storage does BigSur take up after the update? Posted: 08 May 2021 05:18 PM PDT Title. I'm currently using Catalina, and have roughly 40gb free space. Will updating to BigSur decrease the 40gb of free space after the update? If so, by how much? Also, is it worth updating to BigSur rn or should I wait? [link] [comments]
Screen won't wake up - need help please Posted: 08 May 2021 04:43 PM PDT I updated to Big Sur 11.3.1 two days ago Since then, whenever my Mac Pro 7,1 enters screensaver mode, after a few minutes, the screen goes black - I can still hear audio and system sounds but the screen will not turn on I am on the phone with Mac Pro tech support now but this guy must be really new as he is basically putting me on hold to grab manuals and reading to me what the Apple site says to try Started in Recovery Mode.Disk Utility and ran First Aid on Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data -- no issues He then told he wants to walk me through deleting everything and starting from scratch - that does not sound like the right thing to do!!! Then, he changed his mind and told me to hold SHIFT+COMMAND+OPTION+POWER BUTTON for 7 seconds - did that and nothing happened -- I am ready to hang up and try back later when someone who knows what they are doing can help me -- I even asked him if this was the dedicated Mac Pro support line and he had to think about it and said "Yes, we handle Mac Pro too" *** Apple??? Naturally, after finally being patched through to a "senior tech advisor", the issue went away That is, until a few minutes ago when, after putting the Mac Pro to sleep, the screen would not wake up so, I powered it down and then powered back on - logged in and, upon the desktop appearing, was met by a spinning beach ball - after 10-15 minutes, I powered the computer off again and am now giving it some time before I power it back on again This is not a good situation, especially since I have work to do [link] [comments]
The use case for Mission Control Posted: 08 May 2021 04:23 PM PDT So I've been doing some reading on Mission Control and multiple virtual desktops. Most of the articles are about how to set them up. I'm more curious on more the use case of it. I know Windows added similar functionality, but as I've always had multiple screens I'm not sure I've ever really understood what the purpose of it is. I was hoping someone could help me understand what using it over 2 or 3 monitors would benefit me (if at all). [link] [comments]
