I created an app to instantly identify a bird by image or by sound using machine learning . It's called SMART BIRD ID. Let me know what you think!

    Posted: 08 May 2021 09:09 PM PDT

Hi everyone! As a bird enthusiast, I've been working in my spare time on an iOS app that can instantly identify birds using your camera or microphone. It uses multiple frameworks from CoreML (Apple's solution to on-device machine learning), and I've been fine-tuning my algorithms to make the image and song identifications as accurate as possible.

It's starting to work fairly well, so I've started adding more features, such as:

    • Attach images, video or audio to your identifications
    • Add identified birds to bird lists (life list, year list and backyard list)
    • Browse nearby birds submitted by other users
    • Filter birds by region, type, size, shape, and colors
    • Browse photos, watch videos and listen to bird songs and calls
    • Play fun quizzes to learn more about birds in your area (image and song quizzes)

It's available for both iPhone and iPad in North America, Europe and Australia. I welcome any feedback you have, and I'll be happy to share more about my developer journey. Just PM me 🤗.

You can download the app here:

    Smart Bird ID (North America)

    Smart Bird ID (Europe)

Smart Bird ID (Australia & NZ)

    Thanks r/apple for the support!

I created a new app called MemoryMaps to put memories on a map ️ and share them with your friends! Thank you for your support!

    Posted: 09 May 2021 12:50 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I have always enjoyed browsing maps for as long as I could remember. Whether it be for food, different places, new attractions, or places I wanted to go, I oddly have always enjoyed browsing maps.

When I casually discovered the photo map that was in the iPhone (you can reach it in your photos app), I thought it was pretty amazing that I could just browse all of the photos that I took and their locations. I did however find it a bit restrictive in the following senses:

    1. I couldn't share my map with people I wanted to share it with
    2. The photos clustered together too fast and I couldn't see most of the photos even if I wasn't even zoomed out that much on the map

After years of not knowing how to code or make something software related, I finally put my head down during quarantine and started my journey. The photo map app is something I had always wanted to recreate and improve from Apple's default app. There are a few apps out there that attempt to do his, but I personally didn't find any of them (I downloaded hundreds of them) super appealing to use.

So in February 2021, I finally started making it! Here are some of the improvements I was able to conjure up and implement:

    • The images don't cluster up unless you zoom out super far
    • Added followers/following so you can follow your friends' maps
    • Added a public feature where you can see memories around the world from people who decide to post publicly
    • Sharing capabilities to instagram/email if you want to share your map or photo you created!
    • You can share the memories you choose to make public from a website link! Copy the link in your profile in app and paste it anywhere to share =)!

It is now released on the app store and is an ongoing project of mine if you would like to try it out. It's called "MemoryMaps" on the app store. You can search it up or click on the below link!

    MemoryMaps

I also have a small subreddit if anyone wants to follow the progress r/MemoryMaps.

Thank you for all of the support r/apple! This app is turning 3 months old soon and I have already seen some of my users super happy with the app. It will of course improve in the future as well!

    Looking for Guess feedback

    Posted: 08 May 2021 11:25 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for feedback on my app, "Guess".

It's a set of minigames, around the theme of "think of a number, add this, minus that, here's what you thought"

The idea is to use this app without your friends knowing, and amaze them when you guess the number they thought of. Try it! I'm looking forward to your feedback.

WWDC 2021 is coming in 1 month, what features in iOS, iPadOS, watcOS, macOS and tvOS are you excited to see?

    Posted: 08 May 2021 02:59 AM PDT

I'll go first. 1. I want a keychain app on iCloud.com and generally a keychain app on iOS that has not only passwords but credit cards saved, network passwords etc. 2. I want to see Activity and Health on macOS, i want to be able to see more charts regarding my health on my mac, come on Apple why does it take so long? 3. I want to see a better continuity between products. If I listen to a song on my iPhone, I want to be able to continue that song on my Mac or iPad and also the problem with AirPods Pro switching from iPhone to Mac needs to be fixed ASAP 4. I want to see more apps on the Mac App Store that I use on the iPhone, isn't this suppose to happen now with M1 Macs? 5. I want to see an improved Mail app, to be able to send scheduled emails, cancel sending emails within 10 seconds. 6. An improved Siri, be able to have a conversation with Siri and to be able to fully understand what I am saying
