What makes AppleTV look so good? Posted: 08 May 2021 06:55 PM PDT I just picked up a Chromecast 4K and compared to the Apple TV, the colors and picture just looks kind of … off. I mean both support HDR, Dolby, and 4K etc. on paper they should look at least comparable. I've noticed that the picture also looks better than the same on Roku. Is there something technical that separates the Apple TV? [link] [comments]

Horizontal lines across only certain apps Posted: 09 May 2021 12:16 AM PDT We were watching Netflix on our Apple TV and when we switched a show, the picture started showing many white horizontal lines across the picture. At first I thought it was my tv but when I backed out, the Netflix menu looks fine. I went out to the main menu and everything was fine. We tried Netflix again but the video wouldn't load. So I tried other apps, and with further checking, the issue is only happening within certain paid apps and not others. It's happening in Disney +, Prime, Apple tv and Netflix when I worked. The issue also shows on my purchased iTunes shows. However the issue does not occur on YouTube, CBC gem, Telus Pik TV, knowledge kids, tubi etc. And it's only when I play a show, not in menus. I've unplugged the apple tv and back on but no luck. It's something wrong with the Apple tv? Is this a known issue? [link] [comments]

HBO max constantly having issues. Posted: 08 May 2021 03:11 PM PDT Every time I turn the Apple TV off after watching a show on HBO, the app is frozen and won't let me use it when I turn the Apple TV back on. Forcing me to delete, redownload, and re-sign in every time I turn the TV on to watch. Has anyone else had similar issues? Or is there a way to "force quit" an app on Apple TV? Kinda like you can do on the iPhone when you swipe up to quit an app? Let me know. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 05:31 AM PDT I am having an issue. Every time I watch Apple TV (currently just use it for HBO Max) and exit out of my show and come back the next day to watch, I am having to power cycle the device (unplug) to get any show to work. If not, it will just infinitely load and I will not be able to use it. Anyone else having this issue or know of any solutions? TIA. [link] [comments]
How to permanently turn off the “Keep watching with Apple TV” pop-up? Posted: 08 May 2021 09:27 PM PDT We keep getting the "Keep watching with Apple TV" pop up that only allows you to select "connect" or "not now." We select "not now" but the pop up returns in a day or two. How do we stop this from returning. Online searches aren't helping at all. [link] [comments]
Dead Cells for AppleTV updated to include Rise of the Giant and the Bad Seed Posted: 08 May 2021 10:00 AM PDT I just saw that the AppleTV version of Dead Cells was recently updated to 1.7.2, which finally includes Rise of the Giant and The Bad Seed. It's been out of sync with the iPhone and iPad version for months, but now you can play across all those platforms again and sync your game progress. Even better, the DLC seems to be compatible as well, sp you don't need to re-purchase for different platforms. I know this is probably concerns a very small number of customers, but count me as one of them. It's great to be able to play this on a big screen again! [link] [comments]
Which apple tv 4K should I get older or newest one? And what capacity 32 vs 64gb? Posted: 08 May 2021 02:57 PM PDT Hi everyone, here is my case, I'm debating in waiting a couple more months to get the newer 4K HDR, still no date of arrival to my country (simply because it is newer, thus more "future proof") but I'm seeing the now older a10x atv4k getting some discounts with the touch remote (which has gyroscope). now it's on deal, like 20% off I'm going 4k because I have a 4K display, not HDR tho. Main use will be streaming and Apple fitness+. I have a 3rd gen that doesn't support that. I've read that a10x vs a12 is not a big leap, buy what is your real world experience? And lastly, is 32GB really enough? Considering I might play some arcade games, but I mainly use my ps4 for gaming…. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Are there Dolby trueHD source from apple tv 4K ? Posted: 08 May 2021 02:35 PM PDT Other than the native dolby demo app (I am guessing is actually playing truehd codec, but I am not sure if this is even true), is there any source that outputs dolby atmos in its loseless format from apple tv? All the itunes store movies, netflix/disney+...etc streaming source play atmos via digital plus. And it turns out that streaming movies via plex with the apple tv only plays in PCM 5.1 or 7.1, which is nice since it is loseless but it loses the height channels even though the source file has them. (I just realize that only nvidia's shield can stream trueHD codec with plex). Does anyone know if there is some way to play trueHD codec source from ATV4k? Thanks, [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 02:32 PM PDT Hello, i'm wondering if there is any way for me to use my tv speakers and airplay at the same time. I don't have any fancy sound setups but i figured if i could use my airplay speaker aswell as the tv ones sound would get a bit better. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 07:35 PM PDT Hi, I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times before but I'm genuinely wondering. Given the demise of the Logitech Harmony, are there any ways to get an Apple TV 4K to play nicely in a Google ecosystem? Lets face it, Homekit is both expensive, and secondly it sucks... Is there any way to get web hooks out of an Apple TV that I can use with IFTTT or am I stuck with the fact that I may just have to buy a Chromecast instead? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 10:11 AM PDT Hi ! Is it possible to add more screensavers on the Apple TV, like I thought of a kind of simiar screensaver as the famous labyrinthe one from ~1995, it would be really cool to have that on the TV since this one is really nostalgic. [link] [comments]
How long do you expect Apple TV 4 (2015) will receive tvOS updates? Posted: 08 May 2021 09:48 AM PDT I have an Apple TV 4 in my bedroom and ATV 4K in the living room. I was going to sell the 4 and buy the 4K (2nd Gen.), but I might keep the Apple TV 4 for the time being if I'm confident that the Apple TV will be supported for at least a couple of years. I'm aware the Apple TV 4 is now being sold with Siri Remote (2nd. Gen), so I don't expect Apple to drop support anytime soon. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 09:47 AM PDT If I say "fast forward 2 minutes" the thing works as expected. Doesn't matter the app, if I say "skip 2 minutes" now, it does as the title says, and I've been saying this for years. Just updated to latest tvOS last night and this hasn't gone away. My Siri has gone dumb? Can anyone test this out for me? It's weird because the tv displays the "skip 2 minutes" text correctly so it's not like it's not listening, totally puzzled here [link] [comments]
AppleTV- HomePod Remote Set Up Posted: 08 May 2021 08:20 AM PDT Hi all I am trying to program my LG OLED CX magic remote to control the volume via AppleTV for HomePod. I can't for the life of me find a way to work this. The magic remote keeps only controls the TV volume. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
PSA: If you cancel an Apple One sub, it also cancels an existing Apple TV sub Posted: 08 May 2021 10:35 AM PDT Last year I picked up a new iPhone 12 and took advantage of the free 12-month Apple TV+ sub. Then, in Feb this year, I was curious about the Apple One sub, and gave the one-month trial a shot. Due to some technical issues (couldn't connect Apple Watch to TV and couldn't connect game remote to TV) I cancelled the service. This in turn also cancelled my previous 12-month sub to Apple TV+. Speaking with a rep just now there is a no way to reactivate the free sub once cancelled as they were bundled together. On a smaller note, this was the first time I realised you can't stack Apple TV+ subs, I was under the false impression that as long as you picked up a new Apple product it came with a free 12 months of Apple TV+. Does the Apple TV app on smart TV’s have the Computers app? Posted: 08 May 2021 06:16 AM PDT I have lots of music and movies on my Mac that I'd like to continue streaming over my home network as I do with my Apple TV HD. [link] [comments] |
