| Dad's IPhone 11 Microphone Issues Posted: 11 May 2021 10:55 PM PDT When he makes an outgoing call or tries to sound record his microphone is Very low. Steps: Went through software volume options. Removed his plastic screen protector. Cleaned bottom of phone with toothbrush. Bought replacement mic and charging port and spent a few hours tonight replacing the OEM one. Now: Phone is working perfectly after I put it back together but still without his mic working. You can barely hear him when he has his phone set to speaker, but when he turns speaker off and puts phone to his head no sound. Any other ideas guys? I haven't used an iPhone since 2010 and can't think of anything else. Just trying to make it so my dad doesn't have to wear headphones at work all day. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 11 May 2021 03:30 PM PDT My phone gets really hot really quick. Not to the point of a warning but hot. The battery also drains really fast (I've seen it die at a rate of 10% every minute). How can I keep my phone cool and make it last longer? It's an iPhone 7 btw on iOS 14.4 and I've turned off background refresh to preserve battery life and remove my case while using it. Since writing this post (currently 5 minutes ago) my battery has dropped from 55% to 43% [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 11 May 2021 09:24 PM PDT Hi, I woke up this morning and my iPhone is not connected to Wi-Fi, it's sort of a strange issue so I'll try to be as clear as possible: In my Settings -> Wi-Fi, I'm connected to my wifi, sometimes it shows "Weak Security" but this isn't different than previously. In the top left it only shows that I'm connected to "LTE" despite being connected to the wifi-- typically if the wifi didn't work, i wouldn't be connected to wifi in the "Wi-Fi" settings section. Beyond this, some apps aren't working due to a "lack of connection" namely Telegram, Discord, and loading youtube videos (although I can load the youtube app and see comments, but the video won't load at all.) Other apps such as Instagram and Facebook messenger are working fine, albeit a bit slower than usual. I've tried resetting my phone, turning it off and on, turning airplane mode off and on, updating to the newest software update. I am pretty confused and frustrated by this, has anyone encountered anything like this? If I remember any other specific details I'll update the post. | Posted: 11 May 2021 09:15 PM PDT Will someone help me please. I've been having issues with my iPhone 12 Pro (Verizon) for months now. I keep dropping calls (however the icon shows that I have full signal strength on LTE). It also loads webpages at DSL speeds. It's so slow. I keep getting static on phone calls and no so great FaceTime calls even though I have full signal. It also though happens on WiFi as well. DSL speeds for websites on WiFi as well. Even though my wife's phone is blazing fast. My other problem is there are times I go to make a phone call and it goes straight to call failed screen and I'll keep trying and it keeps just saying call failed. I'm really getting irritated cause I've called Apple and Verizon to no avail. Ive spent countless hours on the phone troubleshooting and nothing has worked. There is nothing they can do for me. Verizon said signal looks good and everything on their end is good. LTE Speedtest 2mbps LTE Speedtest Wife's iPhone 50mbps WiFi Speedtest 100 Mbps Here are the troubleshooting steps I have tried: -Restart the phone -Reset Network Settings -Factory Reset -Factory Software Reinstall -Airplane Mode toggle -New Sim -New iPhone 12 they sent me -new router -new modem Please please anything will be appreciated. I know it's the phone, because I tried it on two different wireless networks, both of which worked for laptops. I also did basic troubleshooting, restarting the phone, taking the SIM card out and putting it back in, resetting network settings, all that. I have an appointment at Apple Store tomorrow. So does anyone have an idea what this might be? I can't even erase and restore factory settings, because I need to enter my Apple ID to do that, and I can't enter my Apple ID because I have no internet. Please help. Posted: 11 May 2021 05:56 PM PDT EDIT: Forgot what phone I have… 11 pro max, not 12 Cracked my screen the other day and brought it in for a repair - thought it'd be a quick ~1 hour fix, and the phone was passing all the tests on the technician's analytics, (everything was working fine, including FaceID) but he said that it was telling him it would need to be sent away to a service centre, and he had no idea why. Got given a loaner in the meantime, and I've just now got an email telling me they're just replacing the phone outright. Curious as to what would cause that? | Iphone XR vs Iphone XS at similar price point? Posted: 11 May 2021 02:06 PM PDT i have the chance to get a refurbished either an XR or XS for the same price (both pretty cheap). I'm kind of debating which to go with. You would think the XS however the XR supposedly has better battery life by a couple hours (and my current iphone 7 plus has been getting a tad annoying with dying quickly despite having 88% battery lifespan) and i do genuinely like the "feel" of larger phones, which is why i returned the 7 and grabbed a 7 plus instead when i first bought it a year ago due to not being able to afford a cutting edge model. I don't use the phone for media all that often since i have a curved 3440x1440p gaming monitor and custom PC, ps5, laptop etc.. for most of my needs; but i do tend to watch youtube and such on the bus or when walking around and at friend's houses. This makes me wonder about the OLED screen being worth it. I had a chance to compare an XS to my 7 plus and while it was DEFINITELY a better screen i wonder if it's worth losing some battery life and extra size. Any opinions on this? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 11 May 2021 05:21 PM PDT Hello. I have an Iphone XR running 14.5 I believe. It was a phone I refurbished and sold to my brother. My brother states that he had the aux cord plugged into it from his car. He was listening to music, paused the music, went into a gas station, came out and it was completely unresponsive. I have tried a new battery and screen. I have tried force restarting, and going into DFU mode. I can successfully get into DFU mode in itunes, but it gets stuck on waiting for iphone. After a bit, it says Error 4005. From what I can find, this is a connection error? I cannot see anything on the screen. I cannot even see a backlight around the frame of the screen when i open it. You think the hardware issue? It says No Service on the status bar so when I remove the sim from my iPhone it says No Sim when I put it back on the iPhone it says No Service What's the problem ? To my astonishment, the front camera of iPhone 12 Pro is giving results like a Samsung camera. I don't know how to explain it but the pictures have that forced smoothness 'beauty effect' which android cameras offer. | What takes up the most storage space in Safari on iPhone? Posted: 11 May 2021 12:36 PM PDT Hope this is the right sub, phone is super low on space & it says Safari takes up 1 GB. I have 500 tabs open, MANY things on the reading list, many bookmarks, & have not cleared out the cache in a long time because last time I did, it deleted ALL of my bookmarks & I could not get them back. I was hoping to find out which of these are probably taking up the lion's share of that 1 GB so I can deal with that part first in order to clear up space, or if possible, which of those take up space in order from most to least, so I'm not worrying about clearing up things that'll only make a negligible difference.
