Not sure why or what changed with Tubi but the selection is way better than before and it"s got 5.1 sound and good picture quality. I believe it's the best free service there is. My husband is a gamer so that stays. We have Apple TV for steaming in the bedroom but need another one for occasional casting from our phones in the living room. I was thinking maybe a used one but I haven't kept up with the newer models. We got our other one new 4 or 5 years ago. If I look for a used one is there anything I should be aware of? I have to increase the volume on the Sonos Playbar significantly, and if I forget to turn it down prior to selecting a source other than the ATV, it'll be extremely loud. Few qualms outside of the abhorrent hijacking of the controller buttons. for example guide taking me out of the app instead of bringing up the steam overlay. I just bought a few of the new appletv's to replace my nvidia shields (at least for now) and was curious if the handling is the same? If it hijacks buttons to treat your controller like a remote leaving you without the options that the shield has to circumvent that behavior (virtualhere or connecting via usb) [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 12 May 2021 05:02 PM PDT I just moved into my new house, and brought a working apple TV from my apt. Upon plugging it in at the new place (different wifi network obv) it has shit the bed on me. I can no longer power the apple tv on with remote, I have to unplug and plug back in. Once the apple tv is on, the remote doesn't control anything on the screen (eventually it just goes to screensaver mode and then turns off) . I have tried the volume + and menu thing to re-pair it and the light blinks on the apple tv but nothing happens. I read online of a factory reset with menu and "tv' button, and that makes the light blink a lot but nothing else happens. I have tried with an ethernet cord both in and out of the apple tv I can't navigate to any menu items to set up the network or do a factory reset or anything... I'm lost on what I should try next... As the title suggests, I have an offbeat & very specific use for a spare ATV4K I have. I'm intending to strip all the innards & just keep the logic board & power it with a TalentCell 12v Lithium Ion Battery Pack. I'm wondering if this is possible since the ATV4K A1842 model draws 12v @ 1.083A. I'm planning to use this for a portable AirPlay unit to display my PowerPoint presentations remotely in 1080p resolution (or less) TV sets. I will also be using it to mirror my iPhone's video when I fly my DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone. My iPhone & modded ATV4K w/battery pack will always be close together for Peer-to-Peer adhoc connections using AirPlay. Any confirmation or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! | Should Apple in your opinion bring Apple TV+ to Android? Posted: 12 May 2021 07:22 AM PDT I was thinking about which services can Apple bring to Android without hurting their ecosystem and I think that Apple TV+ (just their own streaming service without additional channels) with MAYBE the ability to watch Movies & TV Series purchased from iTunes (without the ability to purchase those on Android) and Apple News+ (exclusively News+ with the free version being locked to those who pay for News+) would be really great and at least in my opinion those two services wouldn't hurt sales of their own devices or their ecosystem. I think that this move could help Apple increase their service department. Maybe create an Apple One bundle which just includes Apple Music, Apple TV+ & Apple News+ and it's exclusively available through Apple website and not available to subscribe through iOS/Mac App Store.
