- Brand new MBP M1: I initiated the update at 4pm, and it’s 10pm now (5 hours later) and it’s still downloading. Even with a fast internet, it’s very slow—at around .1 to .2 mb per second. Is this normal for the initial update of M1 laptops? Is there a way to restart or reconnect this update? Thanks!
- What do you think? Is the MacBook Pro 16 or the MacBook Pro M1 the better one? Do you have any arguments about one of this Laptops?

| Very slow boot on MacBook 12-inch Posted: 21 May 2021 11:46 PM PDT My MacBook (12-inch, early 2015) boots very slowly... it takes approx a little over 1 minute to show the login screen. On boot, the Apple logo comes up fast but progress bar is then stuck after maybe 10 sec at 30-35% for another 20-25 seconds, then it continues to the login screen. I have tried all the usual suspects like save-boot (same issue), resetting PRAM, SMC. There is also no login item (they would start later anyways)... Any idea how to identify the culprit? The pictures look promising, the device looks to be in a great condition, it has only 140 battery cycles... But it seems too god to be true for me so I'm looking for your advice. I know Parallels released an update that lets you run Windows 10, but do all applications / programs work correctly under Windows? Reason: I ask mainly because I have an old Intel MacBook Pro that I use Windows 10 (under parallels) for some critical work applications that are Windows only. I have a Macbook Air Ver 10.12.6 and I have a very little storage left on my laptop. when I was creating a new note earlier today, all the sudden this message, "The file "NoteStore.sqlite" couldn't be opened because it isn't in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format." popped up and all my notes disappeared... I tried restarting the laptop and all but the notes wont recover. When I type in some key words in the Notes search bar, notes do show up but I can't edit the notes or anything. The "Recently deleted" notes do show up though. How can I restore all the notes back? I looked at this solution already but since I don't have another laptop I need to try another method..I'm not very tech savvy so I"m pretty lost. (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251134833) . But the main thing that is annoying the absolute shit out of me is that when I use my mouse which is all the time you have to triple click to open things and it is soo damn annoying. | Siri not working when headphones are not being used (MBA M1 - Big Sur 11.2.3) Posted: 21 May 2021 04:21 PM PDT When I'm not using any earphone/headphone, my friends can hear me over video calls, my video recordings can record sound, voice memos are being recorded finely, but Siri is not able to hear me. Essentially, there is no hardware issue. And I have enabled all settings so that Siri should work. It does work when I restart, but somehow it stops working. I don't use it that much and that's why I haven't been able to figure out what is wrong. What could be wrong? Is it a glitch? Edit - I thought my Mac was on auto update. | Bent Macbook: a problem unable to be averted Posted: 21 May 2021 07:31 AM PDT I have the Macbook Air, 2020, with M1. It has been months since I first realized that my device was not balanced. It's bottom right corner is above the ground — what seems to be a rather common issue. And what's wrong with that? Every time I try to write something — which I do quite often — the whole laptop wobbles, which, overall, gives a terrible writing experience. Not to mention that it irritates me to even think about this. So today, I have visited the apple store where the technician there tested my macbook for any defects. According to the technician, my laptop, tested on an absolutely flat surface, was completely fine. When I asked her why it wobbles on almost every single table it has been on, the blame was on the table. It even wobbled on the tables at their store; the desk at home; desks in school; and, literally, the ground. In my point of view, it's hard to imagine that every single place my mac was in was somehow not flat enough. I decided to experiment with this. When I turned the mac to different angles on my desk, the result was as I expected: the bottom right corner of the laptop was always mid-air. If it was the problem of the desk's surface — that it would be bent — then the point which seems to be in the air should change according to the angle at which the laptop was turned. But this wasn't the case. This two-month old buddy seems in need of desperate help. But with the time period for replacement elapsed, a possibility for a fix is neither here nor there as of now. Really, the only solution I was provided was to physically add things beneath the laptop to balance it out. But that solution is pyrrhic with aesthetics and comfortability (maybe economic substantiality) permanently ruined. Sticking folded pieces of tissue every time I go to the next day of classes just doesn't seem viable. It would be great if I could get some tips from you guys. Reeeaaally reeaaally. Please.
