    So basically I am looking to buy a new phone. Due to the current state of the android updates and the problem with the battery optimization I am starting to consider buying an iphone 12. So I will be switching to iOS after 6-7 years of using the android. I would like to hear from each of you that have the time to discuss and were using androids for more than 4 years , what are the pros and cons that you noticed , what you miss from android , whats easier etc.

    Also is there a way to download youtube vanced on iOS or an alternative?

    My Apple ID is causing performance issues with all of my devices.

    With all of my iDevices, when I'm logged on to my Apple ID my devices are vey slow and unresponsive on certain apps, along with som other weird glitches, with my iPhone, when I'm logged in with my Apple ID, it loses cellular connectivity and gets stuck say "searching" and when I log out the cellular connection returns and the phone performance returns to normal, also FaceTime will NOT load up on any of my devices, it's just a blank screen, on my Mac FaceTime and iMessage don't even open at all. I have another Apple ID and when I log in to it, I don't have ANY issues at all? What's going on here?! Could my Apple ID be corrupted? All of my devices are on the latest versions of iPad/iOS and MacOS. Anyone else having similar issues?

    Shortcuts and hacks

    I'm a recent convert from a windows laptop to a MacBook Pro. I'm really enjoying it so far but dont really know any shortcut or hacks to really maximise the potential of my new laptop.

    iOS’s built in scanner saved my grandparents potentially hours of frustrating scanner driver issues.

    My grandparents needed to submit various personal documents for employment purposes and needed a scanner. They called me because they were pretty worried about messing with printer/scanner drivers on their new laptop and wanted some help. They were visibly stressed as they explained why they needed the scanner.

    I said "I think we can cut out the scanner entirely!" and showed them their iPhone's built in scanner in Files and how that will sync with their MacBook Pro. It was great seeing the relief on their face with how much easier it was.

    Turn off Safari Lite for Opening Links

    I don't know what the feature is called but I want to turn it off. When in apps like Twitter, or YouTube, or even Mail, you open a link, a version of Safari opens. I want to disable that an open the full Safari app for all links. How? iOS 14.6. Thanks

    “find my network” is a suspect for lag on older iPhones

    Under Find My settings; there's an option called "find my network" which is basically the feature for AirTags. The iPhone also uses this feature while the phone is offline, if there's an Apple device nearby you can find your phone. But if you won't lose your device, it'll just serve for Apple's Find My network and it always will be searching for Apple devices which you can imagine what a huge pain it is for older devices.

    I tried disabling this feature and now my iPhone 7 stops lagging weirdly after boot up and it hasn't done the touch id unlock lag either. I think this feature should be considered disabling for older iPhones if you don't have AirTag products. I also heard the newer iPhones have weird bugs and maybe this is the solution.

    Heic image quality downgrades on sharing!!

    when i send images from my whatsapp to any android user than the quality downgrades very much...is this because of heic format?..should i switch to jpeg format for the better.. pls suggest!!

    I can’t get my iPhone to display the big pictures when someone calls me!

    Hey guys,

    I just can't seem to fix this. Whenever someone calls me it shows the picture in a very very small circle. I can't seem to get the big picture from the contact to show on the full screen.

    I've tried changing the photo from the contact, I have my contacts syncing with iCloud, nothing seems to fix it.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Sorting Images in Album (People)

    In Photos, under Albums, when I choose a particular person to view their photos. It shows me the photos from oldest to newest. Is there a way to sort it from newest to oldest. It's not the photos inside the album but inside the options of people ( under albums ). Tried searching for more details everywhere but to no avail. Any advice TYIA

    Volte and wifi calling

    I am going to purchase my first iPhone. I've used Android forever and tired of my unlocked phones not having wifi calling with certain mvno's like cricket etc.. I would like to confirm that my main reason for switching is legitimate. If I purchase an unlocked iPhone 12 from Apple would it work with any carrier in the U.S. And specifically would I have VOLTE and WIFI calling on all carriers?

    iOS 14.5.1: Airpods Pro issues

    Yesterday my Airpod Pros were working perfectly. Today I noticed that my right Airpod doesn't work, and it doesn't even register as being there. The same happens when I open my Airpod case: it doesn't register nor show the prompt. I tried resetting but that doesn't work either with multiple tries. Even resetting network settings didn't work. My left Airpod (the working one) had a LED inside that was flashing amber. I can't find anywhere that acknowledges this so it could be fake but nonetheless, the Airpods were working fine before. I feel like the recent iOS 14.5.1 update is to blame.

    New parameter to define its gender. I don't know if it's new but since for this parameter to be taken into account you need IOS 14.5 I suppose it's new.

    Hi all! First time asking question, just wondering, I have AdGuard pro but I didn't add in their vpn as I already use nord vpn as my vpn. Will not using their proprietary vpn with the app affect the security benefits they offer? I do have their DNS vpn active for browsing just not their actual VPN app also. Thanks in advance!

    iPhone 11 cellular data problem

    My iPhone 11 experience randomly in some apps will have no cellular data while the signal bar are full, I need to on and off airplane mode in order get cellular data back. Anyone?

    Recently I bought an iPad 8th gen and I'd like to know if it's possible to sleep/wake both screens simultaneously.

    My iPad is connected to the iMac by a lightning cable. Pressing spacebar and waking up both screens would be awesome, but can't find relevant info on Google on how to do this.

    Please, hit me up if you know how this is done. It doesn't have to be spacebar, alternative ways to wake up both screen simultaneously would be great too.

    Files in iCloud do not open?

    I recently had to change my Apple ID on my iPhone, but all the info from my old ID is backed up to the cloud. I needed to retrieve some screen shots that were locked in Notes. I accessed my old iCloud on my laptop (I also tried this via Safari on my phone), unlocked the specific notes, and attempted to download the photos, however they are just a series of numbers/letters with no extension and are no longer photos. I tried to rename with .jpg but that didn't do anything. Is there no way to retrieve these now? I know that when my old Apple ID was on my phone I could open and view them no problem. Any suggestions?

    Doubts: Switching to iOS

    I just ordered my first iPhone (12) (coming from OnePlus 7), and before that delivers, I was reading up on potential problems that I might face. And, these are a few that I am unsure how to solve. (P.S. I have iPad Air 4 so I am still somewhat familiar with the OS, just not on as much usage).

    1. Backing up to iCloud. I currently use Google Photos and although I can continue using that on the iPhone, I do wish to switch to iCloud for better sync with all my devices (iPhone, iPad and MacBook). But, I am not sure if and how I can select which albums to sync to iCloud on iPhone. Such as, I wouldn't want all photos that I download from WhatsApp or other apps to be synced (since it's only 5 GB storage + too messy). Can I select which albums to sync, the way I can select on Google Photos? And if I continue to use just Google Photos, what problems can I face?
    2. Syncing my contacts. That's easy because everything is on my Google account, which is the same ID that I use for my Apple account. But if I add a new contact, will I be able to sync it to my Google ID, or it will just stay limited to my Apple ID?
    3. Calendar. I use Google Calendar quite heavily, with multiple IDs managing multiple calendars (professional/personal/work). I make a lot of tasks on the Google Calendar, but these do not show up on the Apple Calendar on my iPad, unlike the events. Any workaround for this (except sticking to Google Calendar)? I would want Siri to be able to access them.
    4. Credit Card. So, I live in India and I study in Hong Kong. I also have a Hong Kong credit card. My Apple account presently belongs to the Indian region, and I do not wish to change it (purely because of the cheaper price of Apple One here). Will I be able to use my Hong Kong international VISA card while keeping the prices in INR. I could do this on my Android, but not sure if it is possible here.
    5. Will I be able to use Google's hum to recognise the song feature? I've been failing on iPad to use it.
    6. Any other problems I expect to run into? And any advice for someone coming from a strong android/ google history? Any problems you faced during the switch, I'd love to know!

    Purpose of AdGuard pro VPN DNS protection?

    I installed AdGuard Pro and enabled the VPN but I'm still seeing ads in Firefox and other apps (eg Pinterest in-app browser). Does AdGuard block these kinds of ads? If not, what is the benefit of having the VPN enabled?
