Posted: 01 May 2021 09:30 AM PDT Out of curiosity, I got an M1 Mac mini yesterday. The hype is real. In many tasks, it smokes my i9 MacBook Pro. So how different is the M1 from the A series chips apple has been making for their iOS devices? It's is just new branding on the evolution of the A-series chip, or is the M1 a radically different beast? How is it different from the A-series chips like the bionic? [link] [comments] |
Will updating from ios 11 to ios 14.5 cause issues for my Iphone 7? Posted: 01 May 2021 09:23 PM PDT Basically the title. I am currently running ios 11.2.6 on my iphone 7 but am running into issues with lots of apps requiring a newer version of ios. I have held off on updating after a big software update basically bricked my old iphone 5 a few years back. That and the "ios updates slow down older phones" fiasco makes me wonder if updating my phone now will cause issues/ is it even worth it in the first place since I down use the apple watch or airtags. sorry if this is a bit of a ramble [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 05:03 PM PDT I have airtagged the cat. However, I'm the only device that can find her. Is it possible to make it so the roommates can look for her without me having to put her in lost mode? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 May 2021 09:06 PM PDT I have my own apple id that I have used for myself for awhile now, but recently my parents got me a new phone but put me in one of those family groups and set a bunch of restrictions for me. I want to be able to sign out of this account and sign back into my other one without losing the cellular data plan they set on it. [link] [comments] |
Need advice for my iPhone 11 (won’t power on) Posted: 01 May 2021 06:00 PM PDT Hey guys, my iPhone 11 Pro randomly just powered off and will not work. I tried charging for a couple of hours still no sign of hope. The phone is not responding to the buttons for a hard reset or recovery mode. How do I power this phone on? [link] [comments] |
I'm having difficulty transferring iMessages using iCloud Posted: 01 May 2021 08:07 PM PDT So here's the problem: I have iMessage convos on my old iPad mini (1st gen late 2012) that runs ios 9.3.5. I want to transfer these convos to my iPhone 8 that runs ios 14.4.2. Im wondering how I can transfer all the iMessage data from my iPad mini to my iPhone 8? Net Transfer: iPad mini (ios 9.3.5) ----------> iPhone 8 (ios 14.4.2) I don't want to reset my iPhone 8 from an iPad backup because I have a lot of information that I don't want to lose. If it helps, I have a iPhone 5s that runs ios 12.5.2 that can sync messages to iCloud. I am willing to reset this from an iPad backup. Possible transfer: iPad mini (ios 9.3.5) ----------> iPhone 5s (ios 12.5.2) ----------> iPhone 8 (ios 14.4.2)? Any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |

How do I erase Mac Pro early 2008 using windows keyboard? Posted: 01 May 2021 04:53 PM PDT Lol this shit is so whack. I have tried I feel like every button + R to boot into the recovery mode so I can erase it, but it just doesn't go into that mode for some reason. Keyboard works fine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 07:02 PM PDT My iPad turns on fine and everything seems functional, but once I input my password I am greeted to a blank screen. Everything else seems to work (Siri, the camera, widgets, etc.) but I cannot access any apps past this or get to my Home Screen. Also, the power button does seem to work and turn the screen on and off/ locking and relocking, but when it is held down there is no option to force shutdown. I haven't updated my iPad recently, so the iOS is on whatever the previous available one was for the Air 2. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

How to export calendar on Outlook for Mac (2016) to Apple Calendars? Posted: 01 May 2021 04:41 PM PDT I've been looking online but none of the information I've found has been very useful. One source says to export the OL Calendar as an ICS file, but I don't have that option in Outlook. Another source says to save the Calendar with the "Save as..." command from the "File" drop down menu, but "Save As..." is all grayed out. Any other tips of tricks on how to export/transfer an Outlook Calendar (Office for Mac 2016) to Apple Calendars (either on Mac or on iCloud)? [link] [comments] |
pop up bug that won’t stop popping up Posted: 01 May 2021 03:06 PM PDT my mom got a new computer (MacBook Air M1 2020, it's called the macOS Big Sur) and since she's properly put all the old files and stuff from her old computer into her new one she keeps getting a pop up that reads: "uysir.app can't be opened because the developer can't be verified" another text under that is *"macOS can't verify that this app doesn't contain malware" * it gives us two options in the pop up "show in finder" and "cancel". both options removes the pop up for a couple seconds and then pops up again. it's strange because my mom never installed anything relating to the name of this app. it also doesn't exist in the app file (which is why i can't force quit the pop up) [link] [comments] |
Why can't I access my Safari bookmarks on another computer (when signed in to my Apple ID?) Posted: 01 May 2021 05:35 PM PDT I've had an iMac for about a year and have a list of bookmarks on Safari. I just bought a Mac mini and, after signing in to my Apple ID on Safari, am show a blank list of the bookmarks tab. Why aren't my bookmarks transferring even though I'm signed into the same Apple ID on the same browser (just on a different computer)? Is this normal? Thanks [link] [comments] |
imessage voice memo sounds fuzzy and can barely hear my voice but every other app sounds normal Posted: 01 May 2021 11:34 AM PDT Voice memo, facetime, snapchat, phone call, everything sounds normal. How do I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 01:43 PM PDT Hey so I have a 2018 MacBook Air that is still running Mojave 10.14.6 that I got new direct from Apple Jan 2019. Over the last month it's started to sporadically type 2 E's. It doesn't do it for every E and varies in how frequently it does it. It's also occasionally started happening with the T and L key as well. Is this a common issue and is there anything I can do to fix it? NB I know it's not that I'm accidentally hitting the key twice because it happened when I was editing an essay and only adding in a letter or two at a time. [link] [comments] |
Not sure how to recover this text conversation Posted: 01 May 2021 05:01 PM PDT Hello! I wanted to know if anyone knows if it is possible and how I can recover a text conversation that I accidentally erased from my iPhone. The problem is I haven't backed up my icloud because my storage was full, but is it permanently gone if not through the backups? They were important so I'm willing to try anything to retrieve them to my phone. Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 04:50 PM PDT So, I never purchased games or spent money, but last Fall, I stumbled onto a home design app I fell in love with. I spent a lot of money on in-app purchases, but suspected more than what I purchased was being tagged on. I wasn't keeping track at first, so couldn't prove it. But, when I started actually logging each purchase, I got proof that I would purchase two things and a third would be tacked on. I reached out to Apple for a refund, they gave it to me. I loved the app so much I decided to keep playing and logging purchases figuring if it happened again, I'd just get my money back, but I guess that first refund was merely a courtesy, as they refused me when it happened again. I challenged the charge with my bank and deleted the app. Of course, the day after I deleted the app, another fraudulent charge came through - and not a delayed charge either, it said I made the charge the morning after I had deleted the app. Still couldn't get a refund even for that one. I deleted my pymt info from my account. Months later, decided to add pymt info back because I needed to upgrade my iCloud storage. I also happened upon another app and decided to give it a go again. Maybe it was just an issue with the other app? Tracked all my purchases, but I finished a particular game and then decided to delete the app on 4/28 because I was bored with it. Today, on 5/1, I see a fraudulent charge from today (in-app purchase, not a subscription). I haven't even had this app on my phone for 48-hrs. Contacted Apple yet again and was told (of course) that it is impossible to be charged fraudulently because we have to approve every purchase. I told him this is the internet and charges can be put through on the back end by any method, this isn't impossible and not the first time it has happened. He put in a request which I am sure will be denied, but I told him I would just have the bank reverse the charge and delete my payment method from Apple again and if they lock my account, so be it. I will use my devices without iCloud, but they can't just take ppl's money and lie and say there is no way for a fraudulent charge to be put through online. There has to be others who get fraudulent in-app charges. All I see online are people who had subscriptions and deleted apps without deleting their subscriptions, so they get charged. But this has to be a larger issue. Anyone else have this issue? No, I don't have kids or anyone else using my account/devices, and no there is no other suspicious activity on my account. New Old iMac , Any {nothelp}Appreciated Posted: 01 May 2021 04:15 PM PDT Ive picked up a mid 2011 iMac from a donor who wants so badly for his wife to not find out about what virus that he bricked the hard drive with (presumed issue, dead hard drive) that he's willing to give me the computer for proof that I've destroyed the old hard drive. Wild i know, but hey I'm kinda handy and i for some reason want this 2011 Mac. So I've done some research about how to take it apart and it doesn't seem too bad. But I want to secure a new drive, and a way to put macOS on it, before I take it apart. So from you guys I need 2 things, any tips or tricks for doing the swap, and to point me in the direction of where to get an os or how to do that or whatever. Thanks in advance, Red [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2021 03:55 PM PDT Hello. My sibling has time limits on their phone and that restriction doesn't let them sign out of iCloud to escape the restriction. Is there any possible way to sign out? Or we will just get them a new phone with a new iCloud if we don't find a way to sign out of iCloud. Thanks! (P.S. the "parent" is an ex, not an actual parent. I don't know why they put each other on the same family iCloud and have the ex as the "parent" or something.) [link] [comments] |
Can batteries survive for a long time? Posted: 01 May 2021 03:54 PM PDT I have this late 2015 MacBook Air. I want to buy an original battery from Apple in case its battery ends. But I am not sure if it is logical. Can original batteries survive without using for years? [link] [comments] |
