My MacBook Pro has been having the sticky key issue along with a failing battery that won't hold a charge, so I thought I'd send it in for the keyboard program. However, I once remember spilling a bit of soda on it. Posted: 17 May 2021 03:17 PM PDT For various reasons, be it using a new computer, sometimes an iTunes or iOS update, the "manually manage my music" box gets unticked. I can go ahead and re-tick it, great, but in the process with absolutely no warning it will erase your entire music library. Twice this has happened to me now since becoming an iPhone user. Old Mac -> New Mac: iCloud and Photos Library Posted: 17 May 2021 08:52 PM PDT Hello, I recently purchased a new M1 MacBook Air (highly recommend) to replace a 2015 iMac. I had the iMac backed up with Time Machine as well as everything (drive, photos, etc) shared to iCloud. I've wiped my old iMac and traded it in. Now on my MacBook I have access to all my photos on iCloud and I have also transferred over the old Photo Library from my old iMac (currently just copied to my documents and not being used as the library file on the MacBook). I noticed that none of the 'people' face recognition data has carried through in the iCloud photos and I assume I would need to start using the saved Library from my old iMac to carry over all the work I did to get that done on all my photos. My question is - what will happen if I start using my old Library file in Photos? Will there be some conflict or duplication with what is currently in iCloud? I'm not looking to have multiple Libraries, I would just like to have all my photos now stored on my MacBook as well as the cloud (with all the data associated with like 'people' from my old iMac). Issue Recovering Data from old Macintosh HD via Disk Utility Posted: 17 May 2021 06:48 PM PDT I'm currently trying to help a family member to help recover personal documents from their old MacBook Pro (2011, Core i7, 15" 2.2). After finding the right charger, powering it on, and entering the password it booted to a gray apple screen with a loading bar. The bar would load for a long time and then turn off. Booting into Disk Utility I noticed the drive Macintosh HD is grayed out and mount point says "Unmounted". The parent Macintosh HD drive shows that the capacity is almost entirely full with only 16.8 mb available. I was hoping to "Restore" and clone the contents onto an external so then I can pick through and get the files I need but the drive appears to be "locked". Upon trying to unlock the drive it asks for a password but when I enter the same one as earlier it denies it. Trying others denies it quickly- but trying the one that works during boot takes a second to try but inevitably still denies it. At this point I'm wondering what my next step/options are for getting the drive contents. I have a newer USB C MBP myself and was wondering if a Target Disk Mode was an option though I doubt I have the cables/adapters necessary to attempt. iPhone 11 battery suddenly draining Posted: 17 May 2021 11:03 AM PDT Hi! I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have any experience with their iPhone 11 battery going bonkers? Yesterday my battery went from 72 to 49 to 16 to 10 literally as I was looking at the screen after not having used it for a couple of hours. The same thing happened again today. Ive checked the battery quality and it says I'm down to 85% capacity. Up until a month ago, it had been at 99%. I came across this article https://www.ikream.com/battery-draining-issue-on-iphone-11-11-pro-and-11-pro-max-37449 where it suggests that there may have been battery issues related to the latest update but I can't find anything about it elsewhere. Since this is an issue that has started this weekend, I'm wondering whether to go to the store that sold it to me and complain, or replace the battery, but if there is an issue with the update then I'm sure what to do. How to pair a single AirPod? As an example, a friend of mine wants to use the DoorDash Dasher app (only iPhone app) on one half, and a map on the other side.
