- My Mac’s battery settings are restricted for some reasons after I upgraded to the newest OS. There seems to miss a lock icon in the bottom left corner as it appears for half a second every time I reopen the battery panel. But these settings aren’t greyed out in safe boot mode. Anyone has same issue?

| Posted: 17 May 2021 10:29 PM PDT i spilled water on my macbook the other day. i didn't see that much got into the laptop but there was some on the keyboard. i immediately dried it off, turned it off, and then put it in rice, but i left the macbook open and set the rice on top of the keyboard part. i covered up the little charger holes on the side so rice wouldn't get stuck in them, but i'm not sure if i was supposed to leave them uncovered. after sitting in rice for a day and overnight, i opened it to see if it worked. it came on. everything works fine. the screen looks fine. the audio is even fine. it charges. everything seems to be working fine. does that mean it's alright? or has the damage not been done yet? it's currently off, but it's not longer in rice. should i let it sit for a few days? i don't want to use it until i get advice [link] [comments]  | ||

| M1 MacBook Air stopped sending video signal to LG 4K UltraFine monitor Posted: 17 May 2021 07:40 PM PDT Bought both about a month ago and everything was working perfectly. Out of nowhere the video connection between the two stopped working and I have no idea how to fix it. Using a standard USB C cable. Have tried different cables, rebooting the MacBook, doing weird things with the SMC/PRAM, etc. This is a known issue with the new M1 Macs and I am unable to find a solution online anywhere. The monitor is working just fine and will still charge my MBA when plugged in, just doesn't show a video connection and I think it's an issue with Mac OS or the new M1 chips. Please help me fix this. Transferring about 400gb takes 3 hours on the 2019 and about 1 hour on the 2013. I've searched online for the details but no bueno I need to know how to access the printer selection tool where you can select print to pdf. I've selected all files and gone to file to select print but the option to select print to pdf does not ever pop up. Can anyone guide me to figuring this out? I've previously used a Dell UltraSharp UP2516D but wasn't very impressed, it might have been due to the anti-glare making things dull but the colours were no where near as rich or saturated as a mac display. What would be the best option for replicating a mac display as accurately as possible without spending a fortune? I think approx 25" would be more than adequate. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Bluetooth issues between Beats Solo Pro and Magic Trackpad Posted: 17 May 2021 11:53 AM PDT OK, here's a weird one, i'll keep it brief... when my Beats Solo Pros and my Magic trackpad are both in use, the magic trackpad intermittently freezes. I'll include any relevant info below that I can think of. Behavior: Every 5-10 seconds, it just stops sending input for about 2 seconds. Nothing else freezes- I can still hear, I can still type, it's just as thought the trackpad has been turned off for a sec. Most similar problems I have read about implied bluetooth bandwidth, but the audio here is just fine. It ONLY happens when the beats solo pro are on and connected via bluetooth. NOTABLY, I had this setup for several months with no issues, it just started happening one day for reason I have not been able to pinpoint. It is not 100% of the time, but it is closer to 100% than 50%. Other info:

| Is this the best time to buy a Macbook Air? Posted: 17 May 2021 11:49 AM PDT I've seen the leaked renders of the next-gen MacBook air and honestly, the colours and white keyboard are not my thing. I love the premium looking silver/space grey models. Also, the possibility that the next Air might not be starting at $999 makes me think the current M1 model is the way to go in terms of overall value. I've used a MBP 2012 for quite a long time, I code/type a lot and truly wanna check out how the wedge design of MBA makes a difference in that. But the renders are showing a flat design. I can push my current MBP for another year or so, and get a MacBook Air with a next-gen Apple silicon processor but I really don't want a change in design. If apple don't discontinue the current design and just replace the processor with next-gen apple silicon (Like a MacBook SE), I'll be so happy. What are the chances? If not there's no point in waiting, I better gotta buy the M1 MBA now and start experiencing it. Because I think it'll be $999 next year as well, or will there be a price drop if I wait? | Macbook mid 2012 not working anymore Posted: 17 May 2021 11:11 AM PDT Hi, I got this mac recently and it worked alright (except for the L and K keys, and the battery indicator button.). I have the 13-inch. I tried reseating the ram, with no battery, all resets, and nothing By the way, the white light that is on the front turns on, stays for half a sec and turns off abruptly. Absolutely nothing on screen and fans turn on for about the same duration as the white light. Charger is alright, and it just turned green as well. HDD has been switched for an SSD (that worked a few hours ago) by the former owner. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]  | ||

But what about the MBA with the M1 chip? Should I sell my MBP with an Intel i7 for a MBA with an M1 Chip ? What about the Benchmarks between my MB and the MBA with M1 Chip.
