| Latest update doesn't let me select correct monitor resolution. Posted: 30 Apr 2021 03:44 AM PDT After the latest update (14.5) my Apple TV won't show me the correct resolution for my monitor anymore. Before the update it was absolutely fine I could select exact resolution for my monitor (it's an odd resolution something like 1536x864) now it only shows 1080p, 720p etc It's overscans like crazy and doesn't let me adjust that either. | Bring back the Optical Audio out port! Posted: 30 Apr 2021 02:48 AM PDT While this is a special use case, I do lament Apple removing the audio out port from the AppleTV years ago. I have an older AppleTV that I use to stream music to from my iMac's music library or from Apple Music. The AppleTV's optical out port is connected to a Cambridge DAC which connects to my stereo amplifier. I love being able to control the music from my iPad or iPhone and have it play over my great sounding home stereo. At some point, however, support for that older AppleTV is going to disappear or it will just die leaving me in the lurch. When this day comes, what options do you suggest? I am not sure Apple will ever bring back the optical audio port on the AppleTV. Thoughts? [link] [comments]  | ||

| ESPN App Issues since 14.5 update Posted: 29 Apr 2021 06:56 PM PDT Anyone else having some weird issues with their Apple TV while watching live streams on the ESPN app? Seems like I'm getting boxes around the perimeter of the screen accompanied by occasional flickering of them. Odd part is non-live streams/past events don't seem to be doing this and I can't replicate the issues on any other app. I tried restarting the Apple TV, and my Samsung Q80T TV but it still persists. I got so frustrated I plugged the Apple TV into my other TV and sure enough same issue. Relieved it doesn't appear to be a problem with my actual tv but still disappointing. Any thoughts? Posted: 29 Apr 2021 02:50 PM PDT Love Plex and all but tend to use the computers app on the Apple TV, since the last update I am seeing loads of audio sync issues, was flawless before apart from the pause bug which they have now fixed ironically.
