BlackSight: Computational night mode camera app Posted: 06 Feb 2021 11:23 PM PST Hello everyone, I am proud to present my first Appstore app BlackSight. It is a computational photography app designed to take better low light photos. It supports iPhone 6s and above and work on all cameras including the ultra-wide camera of iPhone 11. It makes use of long exposures by capturing several images to reduce noise and smartly merging them to enhance your low light images. All these operations are done on device itself, completely offline thereby protecting your privacy. The app is free, so you can try all the features in the demo. The only limitation is a watermark on the photos in demo version which can be removed by a one time in-app purchase. Below is a list of all the features available: - Compatible with all cameras (front, ultra-wide, wide, telephoto) - Manual focus - Timer - Soft torch for illuminating super dark scenes - Photo format (HEIC/JPEG) - Shoot lower resolution image for faster processing - Grid - Mirrored selfies - Front flash - Smart white balance correction to reduce yellowish tint - Tripod mode for taking brighter and noise free images for very dark scenes -Manual white balance selector (coming soon) Do check it out and send me your feedback: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/blacksight-night-mode-camera/id1544295544 [link] [comments]

I made a free, clean, ad-free unit/currency converter using SwiftUI Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:51 PM PST Edit: Happy Promo Sunday! It's called MiniConverter! In case you wanna search on the App Store. Link: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id1546357720?pt=95873805&ct=Reddit&mt=8 Hi everyone! I'm an indie developer that made a unit/currency converter for iPhone & iPad. You can convert 24 categories of units (temperature, length, weight, etc), as well as many currencies. The user interface is clean and modern, and it's incredibly efficient to use. It supports all the modern iOS features. Dark Mode, Dynamic Type, Split View + Slide Over, External Keyboard, Apple Pencil Scribble, and VoiceOver. Your privacy is important, which is why I did not include any third-party advertising and analytics frameworks. It was made using SwiftUI, which was really fun to use, and I used SF Symbols for the icons. Translating the different currencies and units took a really long time though. Let me know what you think! What other features should I add? Any questions about how I developed the app? Any feedback is appreciated. Edit: It works great on Apple Silicon Mac! [link] [comments]
Learn guitar from your Apple Watch! Posted: 06 Feb 2021 09:14 PM PST Hi r/Apple For the past two years, our team has been working on a new app that redefines how we use and develop for Apple Watch. Using an inner wrist position and rotated watch screen, we've been able to create a hands-on learning experience like never before. Kind of like a very basic form of AR, on your wrist. I'm proud to announce that our MVP has been accepted on the app store, and is now available to download for free! Please check out Chords & Scales for Guitar by our startup Wristruments. This is our first version, which we will be updating soon with a song library, before expanding to other instruments. Please consider checking out the app and I promise you won't be disappointed :) Here is the link to download. Here is the link to download. Thank you and we look forward to hearing what you think! How to spot a $5M/year scam on the AppStore, in 5 minutes flat Posted: 06 Feb 2021 06:51 PM PST Up to now, I've been in the "Apple wants to do the right thing" camp. But my viewpoint is starting to change. Here's how I spotted a $5M/year scam on the App Store, in 5 minutes flat: First, the ratings of this app: 4.6 stars, with over 83,146 ratings, and a glowing 5-star "featured" review:
Now let's slide over to the next review in the carousel:
Hmm... maybe that was an outlier. Let's check the next one:
Ok, this definitely warrants to keep scrolling:
Now I'm starting to see a pattern here:
Last one:
Let's dig in with AppFigures and look at the star breakdown of just the reviews - there's only 835 of them (!): ★★★★★ 109 ★★★★☆ 6 ★★★☆☆ 9 ★★☆☆☆ 31 ★☆☆☆☆ 680 Their average stars? 1.6 stars ONE. POINT. SIX. In these reviews, people are desperately trying to warn others not to make the same mistake they did:
Let's look at their ratings over time. Blue line is new positive ratings per day. This is a completely unnatural pattern here, when overlaid with their download numbers. The featured 5-star review is there because the scammers made sure to also long press on it and mark it as "Helpful", alongside submitting all their fake, bought ratings. This scam has been operating from Indonesia for years, although "operating" is giving it too much credit. The app was last updated in 2019, so they are literally sitting and collecting the stolen money. When you download and open the app, you HAVE to start a $10/week subscription to proceed. UNREAL. Apple is doing nothing. In fact, they're even sending the scammers a cool $400k per month. The scam: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/star-gazer/id1474038335 Their "website": http://textystories.com Another image from their support website reads: "Life is wonderful, let our games be part of it!" This is some utter BS. Honest developers are getting fooled by all sides. I am furious. [link] [comments]
